My take on that is probably because many visitors of the website might be not so tech-savvy and they tend to subscribe in order to get rid of it? But as people get more knowledgeable about it, then they might easily get turned off to the website as there is a distruction (pop-up) along their way? Thanks
Interesting thought but I am not sure there really are that many people who think you need to opt-in to get rid of it. If there are, it's a small percentage.

Hey, how about document sharing websites for backlinks. If I create ppts and include my website link, will I get high quality backlinks. It is like multiple links from single domain but different pages. Because each PPT will have a separate page
It always depends on the actual content you are sharing. If it is amazing then you will potentially get backlinks. You won't get backlinks just for sharing any random piece of content. It needs to provide value.

Without a blog it will be hard to rank organically because you won't have a lot of content. Paid ads will be your best bet for driving traffic.
