Robert Trujillo joined Metallica in 2003... Jason Newsted from 1986 to 2001..
Cliff Burton 1982 until his death in 1986...crushed by a bus in Sweden during the
Masters Of Puppets tour..

You should check out Anaesthesia live, which is from their first album Kill em all. It features original bass player Cliff Burton, who died in a road accident whilst on tour (their tour bus flipped). He is something else. He was replaced by Jason Newstead, who i got to see live twice and was the bass player when i got into Metallica. He was ultimately replaced by Robert Trujillo, who was playing the last time i saw them. All 3 are excellent. I've seen some good live bands in my time but Metallica are the best...the energy is next level.
