  • Video view of my swing is not optimal as the client filming is one of my young ballplayers who came in before his lesson. I asked him last second to film my velocity off the tee. Point to is read below and see the flight of the ball. Again, see explanation below.
    Here are some hitting tips for maximizing your exit velocity on a tee. Even though we want to (and I preach and teach all of my students and players) to hit line drives gap to gap with power and backspin; if you are being tested in a cage off of a tee in a mass group showcase, the best way to maximize your exit velocity is to hit hard low line drives or even ground balls! AGAIN, we do not want to practice hitting like this in the game or BP as this is not the goal as a hitter, we want to hit the ball in the air for line drive gap shots in the middle third of the field! However, by getting on top of the baseball for this specific instance and drill, it shows the difference in exit velocity. The first two I hit were line drives and the ones I "miss-hit" or hit hard on the ground/low line drives put me in the upper 90s and topping at 102mph!
    Measured with the Ball Coach Pocket Radar!
    By hitting on top of the baseball on the tee, you are hitting less of the rubber piece of the tee itself. Therefore, by hitting more baseball, and you are hitting with a higher exit velocity!
    Keep this in mind next time you are being asked to hit into a net or in a cage at your next showcase for exit velocity off the tee!

    Maybe try moving the radar so we can actually see the dude hit the ball?

    Very helpful as my son has a PBR coming up soon. It’s almost as if u could pull a Linebacker off a football team who could effective swing a bat & he would post an impressive exit velo despite below avg mechanics. But this video is appreciated!

    Should I have the tee lower or higher?

      Adam Tedesco Lower, this will cause the bat to travel longer and cause faster bat speeds. Hope that helped

    How do you know that's exit velocity versus bat speed?

    • @sethiken1969
      @sethiken1969 4 года назад +5

      Bat speed is a lot less than exit velo. Top MLB power hitters have an average bat speed in the high 60's to mid-70's, but an average exit velo of mid to high 90's. Almost no one on Earth (maybe no one at all) has a bat speed of 102mph.

      I remember McGwire and Griffey swinging 100 mph when they showed on TV before. So yeah I am guessing he is not
