Good morning picked up a clone of this tuner from Amazon works well popped the covers and was surprised with the quality of soldering and quality of pcb and components works down to 5w but will test with my FT818 they clam it will tune @ 1W. All the best Morton Tony M7CVK
What tuner did you get? I ususally find good work with soldering and PCBs in Chinese devices now. It has improved vastly in the last ten years, but there are some not so good products out there as well.
@ Morton it’s the ATU-100 EXT the unit has the 3 push buttons Green for tune /menu auto yellow / white bypass £87 had a play with it and seems to work as per instructions the power display is a little low I know my FT710 set at 25w was showing on the tuner 22w at 98% efficiency but other than that works fine. It dose require a 12v supply but I can deal with that.
I own the other modell of that one, the one without the M, it tunes my Gainmaster antenna from 20 to 10 meter, i have not tested another antenna with that tuner.
Hi Morton, Do you think if you said "Foxtrot India" your call might sound clearer? I've heard you say it on the air on a video and it sounded much clearer than "Fox India". Just a suggestion! Matt M0PTO
@@tincanblower Thanks for the suggestion Matt. Would you believe that I actually say both and vary it a little. Foxtrot India is phonetically tricky for a Norwegian to say, so I am not sure that always help either. That being said, my usual issue is not that people do not get my callsign, but that people don’t behave in pileups. Looking forward to get you in the log!
Thanks Morten for this review of that new variant of the Chinese tuner series that I didn't know. I have the ATU-130 variant, same form factor with 3 buttons and a more basic display and yes, I have noticed too that it sometimes struggles to tune at 10W but does quite fine at 20W, even with a rather high SWR to start with. This one has fancier and customisable display that mine doesn't, and a built-in battery which should be great for portable/POTA. That's less wires around. Does this one have a bypass mode? Just checked my logbook and I've never worked you. Hope that our paths will cross someday! Best 73s. F4LDT - Alain
This is actually a different tuner than the ATU-100/130-series of tuners even though it looks similar. It is by all means a better tuner, even though I still use my ATU-100 for some situations.
Well I have no big complaint against my ATU-130. It works pretty well for a sub-100€ tuner. I like the 3 buttons for easy control. What makes this AT-100M is better tuner in your opinion? the display? the battery? I've recently acquired a second hand LDG AT600 ProII out of an opportunity for a good deal on it. I have yet to be convinced that it works significantly better, besides supporting higher power. Best 73s.
I enjoy your channel. Have you lived in the States? You have a very midwestern accent. Or midwesterners have a Norwegian accent.
I have, and as you might have noticed I drop some Illinois references once in a while. I lived just outside Peoria, IL in the mid 90s. Thanks!

Great review and video, as always. Keep up the good work!
Thanks!

Nice little tuner. Thanks for the video Mort! 73
It is, and it's miles ahead of the ATU-100 in usability and features. Thanks for watching and commenting Jeff.
Thanks for the honest review. I definitely will not be getting one of those.
Thanks for letting me know.
