      @@bridgeidiot262 Amen! The one of the core principles of Christianity is to teach us a proper Fear of the Lord - humility in the shadow of our great Lord and God! And yes of course we are called to Trust our Lord - for everything - to love Him with our whole heart, mind, soul and strength - which means to be willing to serve Him (submit to His will) humble (as I have mentioned) and voluntarily deny ourselves, pick up our cross and follow Him. All of these things are works and all of them are Faith(Trust). There is no difference between Faith and Trust - so to say "saved by Faith alone" makes no sense if you are separating Faith from works.

    Well said - we are transformed by the Holy Spirit by beholding Christ, not looking constantly at ourselves and our shortcomings and not by our self efforts of dead works / behavioral modification to the demands of the Law (the strength of sin). Sanctification is progressive in the sense of our realization of who we really are now in Him, walking in that knowledge and living by the righteousness of faith. Too bad this is really not the reformed church's focus.

    More ministers need to speak on being washed, sanctified, justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6.11). Sometimes it feels like I have this wonderfully amazing Resource who is the Holy Spirit, but I'm not fully aware or educated on how to allow Him to work in my life. In addition, who really wants to deal with the stress, discomfort or pain one has to go through being transformed into the likeness of Christ? Well if we want to take up our on crosses, make our own sacrifices for God's glory... We do. Being in Christ means doing to selfish urges and desires. I recall watching videos of students during the civil rights movement preparing for sit ins. To prepare themselves to remain peaceful in all circumstances, students would subject themselves to people yelling, pushing, intimidating, humiliating them and they would sit quietly and peacefully. To not react, to not respond to moments that would otherwise make us angry and frustrated is hard, to respond in love even harder. Had to have been the Holy Spirit at work, transforming them into the image of Christ. Sometimes everyday life brings lesser testings than those the protesters went through interacting with other people on the roads, in public, and in private with family, friends and strangers.

    In sanctification is it synergism or monogyrsm

    • @bdgdbdgd
      @bdgdbdgd 3 года назад +3

      good question, the bible clearly explains the responsibility of believers in the process of sanctification like Phil 2:12 So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling;
      However, even our efforts put into sanctification are technically from the help of the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. So in that sense, it is really the Holy Spirit who enables us to continue our sanctification process, not our human power. So sanctification is monergism in that sanctification is ultimately possible becuase of the power of God but at the same time it is synergism in that you have the responsibilty to continue to work on it.

      You can read the last verse of romans 7 and romans 6:22. Obey the law with your mind over and over and over again. Sanctification comes about by obeying the commandments. This can deplete the sin that dwells in a believer even after being imputed with the holy Spirit.

      Ok you have verse 14,15 that go together. Here it means that the unbeliever, by virtue of being one flesh with a christian, is not considered living in unlawful relationship. It also refers to the spiritual influence and power the Christian holds over the unbelieving companion. It could not mean that the Christian could save the soul of the unbeliever. Should the sanctification referred to here be allowed, the children would become considered ceremonially unclean, not to be received by Christians are given any rights to privileges of Christians
      Here we have another legal and scriptural reason for divorce and remarriage. If the unbeliever refuses to live with a wife or husband because of Christianity and if he or she determined to leave this relationship the Christian is not under further marriage bonds and is not he'll responsible or punished by requirements to remain single the rest of his or her life because of the rebellion of the other.

    So in the Bible when God asks us to sanctify his name... He wants us to use his name to separate him from all of the false pagan gods, would that not be correct? Because to refer to the father most high as God or Lord or anything else someone could be confused as to which God you're talking about or Lord. Are you talking about neptune, Zeus Aphrodite or Aries etc. Even though there is still a debate about God's name and the Jews claim it's too sacred to say, Yahweh and Jehovah are as close as we can get seemingly. That in itself seems to be an adequate separation from any pagan God names. If you say Yahweh or Jehovah people will know which God you're talking about, the God of the Bible. I mean Yahweh knows every language. It may sound different coming from Mouths all over the world. My name is Jim but someone that has Spanish as a native language calls me Yim. As Christians we have to put forth more effort to do what is asking us instead of doing what we want to worship. Do you recall when the Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus and explain to him all of the things thay they had done in his name, and yet, Jesus told them that he did not know them. Just follow the directions people it's not that hard. Stop trying to make something that's extremely easy too hard.

There is nothing that is still lacking or needs to be completed by God in us for our spiritual perfection. We have already been sanctified completely ( Hebrews 10:14 KJV). The flesh can never be perfected and sanctified. That is why the perfection had to die for the imperfection but we have been sanctified in the spirit through Christ Jesus our lord.

      Justification is immediate upon baptism, forgiveness of sins and the gift of the holy spirit. You are IMMEDIATELY JUSTIFIED JUST-AS-IF-I-NEVER-SIN and therefore saved in that instant if you have believed, confessed, repented and are baptized. You are transformed from darkness to light. Santification is the ongoing process of being set a part and becoming more and more like Christ because we are always being transformed to his likeness. We will always struggle with sin as it states in Romans 6. We are slaves to righteousness verus slaves to sin with our new nature. Santification is a process, purification, and ultimately glorification to Jesus as we (not work, but trust) God's saving work in us as he molds and shapes us to his likeness.

    I don’t see any difference between justification and sanctification except that justification happens in day one of your relationship with the LORD.
    In both cases what we are called to do is to deny ourselves, take up our cross, repent and follow Him - in other words TRUST HIM with our whole heart, mind and soul. Even though we may feel like we can do this 100% on day one, as we TRUST Him more every day we see that our capacity to Trust Him more grows every day as WE allow our will to be in submission to His Will. And yes Trusting Him is a work. But submitting your will to His is how we keep from boasting.
    The Catholic view and practice of how to work out your salvation is so beautiful and amazing and logical and is consistent with all the Scriptures without having to bend it and contort it to make it fit this Protestant view.
    Like any relationship WE have a part to play. We choose daily to Trust our LORD or to trust ourselves. Otherwise we have no free will and God is not a loving God.

      Yes, it’s clear that RC theology teaches justification is not instant, it is not guaranteed, and it is not based on the work of Christ alone. Essentially you are left without biblical justification and are forced to mix sanctification with justification but ultimately putting the cart before the horse as the pope would have you believe justification would only come after death. This is not biblical. Read Romans 8: we as believers ARE saved. Paul was writing to people who are already saved and are heirs or God, co-heirs with Christ.

      >> Yes, it’s clear that RC theology teaches justification is not instant, it is not guaranteed, and it is not based on the work of Christ alone.
      The Roman Catholic theology (after 2000 years of painstaking work) is that Salvation comes from the entire economy of Salvation of History since the creation of the universe and most explicitly in God's work of Grace in creating us as free human beings who can choose to follow His Truth and we can deny His Truth. He wants a long term relationship with us. He does not teach, nor did Jesus, nor His Disciples, nor the early church that Salvation is an instant in time and guaranteed and is based ONLY on Jesus' work? Makes no sense - if that is true, then why doesn't he just declare all people SAVED and then we are done... no churches needed, no theology needed, no nothing... it is all his work, so why doesn't he do that? No, he REQUIRES our participation to RESPOND to His Grace and Revelation to begin to TRUST him - Once we do that, we are saved and we begin our relationship with Him. And tomorrow we can decide to continue to Trust Him or to Deny Him. He never forces us.

      Definition is just a starting point..What is the SPECIFIC PROCESS that the HOLY SPIRIT uses to make a person righteous, separate them from sin and changes them to be like Christ/JESUS??

  • @davidrose3737

    It means set apart which bible says we are when we get saved. No where it says its a process. Now perfection is different, its a process. They confuse these 2 terms.Jesus said for their sake I sanctify myself, He was already holy. Its putting yourself apart towards a certain task. Objects, days, were set apart. Were they gradual to?? No..Sanctified is what we are!! If your a Christian!! Paul sends letter to Corinthians 1:2 to those Who are sanctified, past tense, not gradually done.

    One of the biggest lies that flows through christian belief is that all sin every day.

    • @tarapheneger9715
      @tarapheneger9715 9 месяцев назад

      We have the capacity to sin daily and in many cases our pride, selfishness and knowing the good we ought is a daily battle causing us to sin even if we are not aware. This is not a lie. This is the spiritual battle. Our flesh, lust of the eyes and desire for comfort all wage war daily. If you are unaware then Satan can take you captive making you believe you are without sin and thinking you are standing firm. In 1 John 1:10, "If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us."
      "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it" Jeremiah 17:9. Paul was even frustrated with his own sin being a great man of God. "For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, waging war against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captiviy to the law of sin which is in my members." Romans 7 22-23. He cried, "What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death." Paul goes on to claim only in Christ Jesus.
      Santification is the processing of becoming like Christ daily but even just one bad attitude or Godless thought is sin. I am truly impressed if any Christian can get through their day without one sin of the heart. God's grace continously covers us as we actively confess, repent and move on and accept he is changing us day by day. We must HATE sin and know it is in complete contrast to the character of God. Jesus came to destory the devil's work.
      To God be the Glory my friend!

    Wrong! Sanctification sets you apart for the purpose of God. Marriage, Walking in the spirit, not "cleaning" you from sin.

    So we can kinda be like him but not really because not perfect? Lol. That makes no sense. We are imputed with seen as righteous because of him Jesus alone. Spiritual groth and maturity is a real process yes but that’s different. We never become sin free in this corruptable earthly body. We will always battle sin nature in a fallen state of our physical realm. The Holy Spirit can and will help us to sin less and be aware if our depraved selves. But with all do kindness this didn’t completely make sense.

    Thumbs down: video doesn't use scripture once to define the word.

  • @trinnis42
    @trinnis42 11 месяцев назад

    I think there's something missing with this definition. All respect to John MacArthur, but I don't believe it's us being separated from our sins. And I believe in one sense our sanctification happened once, and that we were fully sanctified at our conversion. Look at 1 Cor 6:11 and many other verses with the word "sanctified" - it seems like it all happened in the past. When people think of sanctification, they think of it as progressive - but I would call that spiritual maturity. The degree to which we have advanced in God's sanctification is proportionate to our recognition that he has already fully sanctified us. Look at Romans 6:11 "So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus."
    Even the Shorter Catechism has it wrong on sanctification when it says that we, "are enabled more and more to die unto sin." Paul says we're dead to sin! There's no process there.
    Also, I can't find any verse that tells us to sin less and less - to work on reducing our sins as time goes by. (This is what's implied in this kind of definition like MacArthur's.) The Bible is very straightforward that we are to not have anything to do with sin (not to merely reduce its frequency):
    "PUT TO DEATH therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry." Colossians 3:10
    "But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make NO PROVISION for the flesh, to gratify its desires." Romans 13:14
    "Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; REMOVE THE EVIL of your deeds from before my eyes; CEASE to do evil" Isaiah 1:16
    ...And so on (my emphasis). The Bible doesn't congratulate you for committing fewer sins last week than you committed two weeks ago. That would be Pharisee thinking.
    Reducing the number of sins doesn't draw me closer to Jesus. I can reduce my wrongdoing through behavior modification alone - and that wouldn't get me closer to Jesus.
    My progressive steps of maturity mean that I'm gazing at Jesus - as MacArthur gave us that wonderful verse of 2 Cor 3:18. We are changed into his image by gazing at his glory! (My paraphrase.) It's the other side of the horse's cart. We don't draw close to Jesus through reducing sins, we draw closer to him by gazing at him, walking with him, trusting in him, etc. As I allow the Lord to change me, my sins do diminish because I'm becoming more like him.

      😂 1 John 1:8 If we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves an the truth Is not in us, if we are faithful an just to CONFESS our sins he will cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If you say you have not sinned you make him a liar an his word is not in you. There's 1 verse already showing you how Christ is with us on this path of sanctification an grace an it's a gradual climb take your whole life or else why would you need to confess your sins 😂 you also contradict yourself at the end of your little speech how it's a gradual climb and allow the Lord to change you etc. 😂 but I thought it was instant you shouldnt have to allow the Lord to change you if your not on the Catholic Christians journey of sanctification an grace? Ya right Theres no other way to Christ accept through the Catholic Christian teaching on sanctification an grace. Again in Philippians 1:6 being confident of this that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion in Christ Jesus amen😂 sounds like sanctification an grace to me friend. I can hear in that verse a gradual becoming of this man who God wants your to be as you admit😂. This is why the Catholic Christian Church is the foundation of Christianity only 1 way to Christ through sanctification an grace.

      If I need to show you more verses on this subject concerning sanctification an grace I will. The Catholic Christian Church is clear on the only way to Christ is this way. Otherwise you can just go murder someone an it's ok. Ya right😂 Mathew 18:18 says whatever you bound on earth, will be bound in Heaven.this verse shows you that if your bound on earth as a murderer, your bound in Heaven as a murderer, thus serving the soul or souls you murdered forever being below them in power an authority in the levels of Heaven. Mathew 20:16 Jesus said the 1st will be last, the last will be 1st in Heaven showing rank an authority in Heaven depending on earthly suffering etc.

    He does not understand what sanctification is and means... And you guys gobbled it... Install a software like eSword on your computer, use a decent bible for a word study (a litteral translation, as opposed to a dynamic translation), like the NASB, even the KJV, and search all occurrences of sanctification/sanctified/sanctify in the hebrew and greek. The text will very often tell you what it means... Then research those concordances (for example G37, G38, H6942) and reseach those in the concordances to see in what other words they are sometimes translated. You will see for example that in the old testament, in many translations, sanctification/sanctified has been translated hallowed or consecrated... DO YOUR HOMEWORKS. This explanation of McArthur does not fit a proper exegesis.... and it's not that hard to verify what sanctification means....

  • @jixoye1158
    @jixoye1158 2 года назад

    John MacArthur teaches that babies go to hell, adulterers and murders go to heaven, and that it's ok to take the mark of the beast. This guy is one of wolves in sheep's clothing the Bible warns us about. Turn from your sins or you'll continue to be deceived by men like this that lie to you about sin and its consequences. You cannot continue to do evil and make it into God's kingdom. Calvinism is the devil's first lie to Eve saying when she sins she will not surely die.
    Ezekiel 33:11 Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die?
    1Jn 2:3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.
    1Jn 2:4 He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

    1John 1-8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves an the truth is not in us. If we CONFESS our sins, he is faithful an just to CLEANSE us from all unrighteousness. The word cleanse means a repeated process of keeping something clean. We repeatedly cleanse our body when it gets dirty, if not youll stink of sin. Otherwise We can just say I'm saved i dnt need Jesus, God or the Holy Spirit. I dnt need to do this in rememberance of me the communion. Ya right😂 I'm sure Jesus supports the path of sanctification an grace more than just saying your saved that's it now just ignore God do what you want 😂.
