Genuinely, thank you for speaking up about Powerless. Inspiration is one thing, copy and paste is another thing all together and there were far too many Red Queen and Hunger Games to be considered even close to original. I’m glad people enjoyed it, but I couldn’t for the exact reasons you mentioned.
same for me! i couldnt get totally into it either because it was too similair to HG and the world building was a little bit lacking for me. I loved Kai, he was my favorite part of the book, and even then, i wasnt into it like everyone seemed to be and i thought i was the only one who didnt give it a 5 stars
If He had been with me was immature to me so I DNFed it. I've read books regarding younger characters but that didn't felt like this. Maybe the author is not for me. I'll check out her other books to see.

I have heard so many people recommend Magnolia Parks and no one has said anything about a controversy until now. Before today, I have never heard of Magnolia Parks and have not yet read it. But I'm so confused as to what the controversy is. What was said that caused controversy?
