When I owned the older FJ-09, I thought this engine would make a wonderful real-world sport bike. This machine is several levels fancier than I expected. Should be good.

Honestly Im a huge fan of the triple motor and sports bikes, combine the two and itll be huge fun i say. Id live a daytona 765 but thats not happening so this is the next best thing. Granted it dies make about 30hp less than it should for displacement but thisll be blistering. Too bad it'll cost a bomb in india due to inport taxes!

Yes, Australia gets screwed every time with new bike prices. Too many import taxes. Aussie riders are correct in thinking they're hard done by, but it's not Yamaha's fault. Talk to the gov'mnt.
@@crypto1300 It's all to do with the balancing rules. If they were able to be let off the leash the Ducati would have 10 more HP than anyone else and just walk away with it.
It's nice but still disapointing HP numbers and you would think that it would weight less than 430 wet that's bascially an R1 weight .. Come on this should be under 400 lbs
Yes, give us the reduced weight or some extra hp over MT09 but we get neither. Yamaha looking at profitability over keeping/existing gaining/new customers. In US just get 150 hp GSXR-750 for same price and better handling to boot
@@royaltyallen1162 Either is fine. Both will be very quick for your first bike. My suggestion would be to go for something a little slower as a first bike but it's up to you.
Considering an R1 now costs $18,999, this is excellent value. Nothing costs the same as it did in 2007. It's nearly $1000 less than the GSX-R750 and has way more tech.
R1 today is more extreme than almost anyone needs. In the real world this will be a great bike. If you have ever owned a triple sportbike you will know it is a great compromise. Brand new bike and still lower MSRP than GSXR-750 which is its natural rival. It will be very competitive in WSS too. Absolutely gorgeous! Thank you, Yamaha!
It's actually quite a spunky little thing. Very pretty

nice a 900 that performs like a 600. a fz with race plastics...so new and revolutionary woo

I feel like a gsxr750 is still a superior bike. The big stick is lack of ABS. Dont really need other tech at this price/power point.
Agree, but crazy that it has a hard time in MotoAmerica against the Ducati V2 and R6.

I meant the bracket holding the footpegs on. I would have liked them to flip up and sit flush under the seat like they do on the XSR900
