They are that expensive because they don't have competition. We need to wait a few years before there are competitors for waterproof drones, if at all.
Over the pond here in the U.K. CAA said No to drone dropping payloads, illegal but everyone-ish plays with it or I believe legally use it for fishing line deployment, but I’m guessing that bit.
We drop PFD's (life vests) to victims in water rescue scenarios. It works great! Some other use these drones for dropping fishing lures and bait further out than they can cast.

I did get an idea while watching your review and that would be to treat the camera lens with RainX which would probably eliminate the droplet problem. I also fine to keep any wildlife off at 45 degree so s not to scare them. The dolphins and turtles I have encountered are very sensitive to the prop noise.
My first thought at Steve's "wiper" comment was also why not try RainX. I believe when applied properly, it should not leave any residue to distort the lens.
I wonder if AUTEL will sue them for making it look like the X -STAR with the same color. Nice drone with it camera and being water proof, I just think it's too big and noisy. Certainly will create a lot of unwanted attention.

I wish they would make a new smaller quieter pro version with a 1" 10bit 4k60 sensor with high bitrate, but that's asking a lot...lol

Another great vid Steve....looks really useful for search and rescue with the load drop function and the night cam option....also footage looks some of the crispest and naturally coloured of all the drones you have tested. I think its price is ok as well seeing as its a specialist machine....when I buy my yacht I will get one :)

Spry+ is not a drone designed for filming in the hands of a beginner drone pilot. For someone who knows how to film with a drone to obtain pleasing looking footage, then this drone will work. The Splashdrone 4 is designed with a 3axis gimbal and is more fore giving to people with no understanding of filming with a flying camera.
Hey very niice video Captain Drone. I am in Sarnia Ontario i was the first one to get the SD4 back in June. It is a very nice drone. I have many flights with it. I also have the boat kit and the cam gimbal extension bar and the SD4 backpack to carry the drone in. So far the drone is amazing for what it is designed for. Nothing else like it on the consumer market. As for after market sales issues, I have not had any so can’t comment.
Not enough flight time. I live in a forist. You cant see though the canopy. Police had a man hunt around me.. it took them 48 days to find him . They had militarily grade drones up with themeral cameras. . It Was a shocker on how the technology looks incredible but does not really work that good.
@@Zack_Axel seen them work on high grade drones the FD has. They dont penetrate the canopy. Deer, bears, cyotes, horses, create false positives when you spot them..... They have a liquid fulled drone to fly longer and its still very hard.
I do them often. As for having so many drones, I honestly don't have a great deal as I have zero place to keep them so they are given away to friends or sold to friends. Also the drones I do give aways with are BRAND NEW and not crappy used ones.

Mike, I take it you are new around here (my channel that is). When you watched my first video of me unboxing the drone, I mentioned I would take it out and see what it could do. For expensive drones I do that with them and after I have tons of flight time and usage I give my final opinion.

It is automatic out of the box so something is not correct on yours. If somehow yours is messed up then just read the instructions on how to bind the two together.

Picture quality? Great video. I think I like this company's products (except for the price), but I am concerned about the picture quality. They have a fishing version and something that costs $2500+. Does anyone know what the picture quality is for each of their versions? I like how the Captain compared other drones to the Cannon Pro setup.
With the large blades and carbon fiber it would not be recommend to try and hand catch this drone. Always great show. Ty glad your always a pleasure to watch
Hi their , I have a question about the mavic air 2 . When I start my flight a press to record video it records in clips of about 2 or 3 minutes. Why doesn't record straight through the time I'm in the air?
In fact, it is very convenient to take off and land on boat. The flight of the drone is very stable. Some people will choose to hold the landing gear by hand. More people can choose to land directly on the water and then take it up.
Nice vid do you have any lag with the video live feed? I've just been fishing with my new sd4 and the camera to phone was so slow like 5 seconds or more any ideas why cheers
There will be a delay since the drone is using wifi, but not 5 seconds. Unless of course it is above you (these drones can’t communicate well unless in front of you) Interference perhaps? I have found that the advertised range is something I can’t achieve as there is too much interference where I fly. If you are getting lag no matter if the drone is close or far, then something needs upgrading, either the firmware or the app or your phone is the issue. Try another phone or tablet.
Any insight on whether SwellPro will submit an RPAS safety assurance with TC? I emailed them a while ago and they have not bothered to respond, which is sad, Both Autel and Powervision have at least made some response effort to my email questions. The Spashdrone 3 is on the list. If they do, it puts this drone near the top of my short list.
Update - Resent my email direct rather then from their webform. Well land my drone if Eric Hu himself responded! WTF? lol well if Swellpro wanted to make an impression they surely did. So he responded that he just submitted the RPAS safety assurance to TC. So I am assuming since the Splashdrone 4 is better in everyway almost, that it will be given the same assurance, over people rating. As Dr. Evil says "Your stock is rising #2".
I am really excited about this drone, but the finance department (wife) says that we have to save money for our month-long vacation in the US next year. My argument that we could use the drone on the vacation fell on unconvinced ears. She says I will have to be satisfied with my Mini 2. Oh, well. I actually agree with her about this, but I can't help _wanting_ this drone. But I would love to own this drone!
If it should rain during your entire month long vacation and everything is flooded and underwater, she is going to kick herself for not letting you have this drone. :-)

I recommend NOT hand catching also unless ...... The payload drop can carry a first aid kit and perhaps the drone can auto dial 911 !!!

That is how it is designed. It is due to the file system the drone uses.

Perhaps they can design a foldable landing pad which can catch the drone on a unstable boat like the one can catch the helicopter on a ship.

I have never heard of such a phone. Try downloading the DJI FLY APP. If you can download it onto your phone then it may work.
