  • This is a film I put together in Windows Live Movie Maker. This is a collection of home-movie footage someone from Paramount Pictures(evidentally) shot while DeMille was on location in Egypt, October 1954, filming scenes for his masterpiece THE TEN COMMANDMENTS (1956) I know there is more rare film footage out there. If any of you have more rare film footage that is not included here please contact me through my RUclips channel and let's do a trade in high quality video. I have extensively researched the making of this film for over 30 years. I have a personal super-huge rare memorabilia collection dedicated to this film worth several thousands of dollars that I have bought and collected for many many years. Thanks for viewing. Please check out my music here on my YT channel, as I'm primarily a singer and promote my music videos - subscribe, rate and comment - add me as a friend today.

    This is so cool, one of the greatest movies ever made. And to see how they filmed the parting of the sea is incredible. No CGI back then, so they really had to be imaginative.

    So beautiful and marvelous in her looks and acting in this 🎥 film Anne Baxter. So great this wonderful actress first as princess "Nefretiri" and then as queen "Nefretiri". She was one of the main assets of the movie. I always remember and love her performance in this great film.

    Most of us know every single frame of this film, so it's very fun getting different perspectives on it. Interesting to note the moment DeMille carries his own director's chair forward, when legend holds that he had always specifically employed someone to hold his chair ready at all times.

    • @UltimateBargains
      @UltimateBargains 4 года назад

      You can see that guy run over to get the chair, but DeMille had already placed it.

    I know Yvonne De Carlo had some wonderful "home movies" that she and her husband took while shooting TTC's... saw them years ago. Not sure how you could get your hands on them. I would love to see them again.
    My best to you.

    Wow! Had always assumed the parting of sea was totally fake, cartoonish effect maybe. The huge tank of water and sides on studio lot built for this important sequence was absolute incredible movie making.

  • @dukeofhaas

    Anyone who takes the Paramount Studios tour in L.A. will see the "tank" used for the parting of the Red Sea sequence. One would never know it's intended function unless it was pointed out because it's really just a four foot depressed area of a parking lot, painted light blue, used as studio employee parking when not filled with water (Zoom in on Google Maps Earth view of Paramount and it's easily spotted about left of center). Many TV shows, motion pictures and adverts were filmed at this spot when a scene required the appearance of open water or the sea. The "tank" is rented by many other Hollywood studios and production facilities because it's the only large open air "tank" among the big studios in and around Hollywood. The final water scenes of the Truman Show were filmed at this Paramount Studios location.

    The Mike Douglas Show, an afternoon variety show from the U.S. from the 1970's did a story with interviews on the Ten Commandments with the highlight being how they filmed the parting of the Red Sea for the movie and it's pretty much identical to the clips we see here beginning @ 3:52.

    Unimaginable how they managed to create this movie with all the set up, the crowd, the costume and all the details. No words to admire the creators. But was the film made with 35mm or 70 mm film?

    My dad would've loved to have seen this footage, though I think he did see some snippets of it on the DVD special edition, which he bought specifically so he could listen to the audio commentary by Catherine Orrison. I suspect the shot where the chariots are rushing out of Rameses palace was the take that's in the actual film, as I doubt they would've gone back to do another take with all those horses, unless there was a gaping continuity error or crew in shot. Take these historical epics for what they are as pure entertainment.

    Hi Steve,
    thank you so much for this rarity. I wonder if you know about the existence of the footage of the frog plague which was actually filmed with Baxter but not included in the final project.
    Any footage of Miss De Carlo visiting the set in Egypt?
    Thank you so much

      @fabulousfrance 6 лет назад +2

      there wasn't audio back then, you had to shoot the images and the sounds separately, no camera could take audio at the same times than images, it's nearly at the end of 70's and even beginning 80's if i'm not wrong that you had the cameras making image and audio at same time

      Yes, they shot some there, but they also shot extensively in Egypt. It's one of the many things that give the film credibility is that you're seeing some of the real places.
