- The big day has finally arrived. Sam and Citra are going to have their Islamic wedding. But first, Sam needs to convert. "It feels like everything's happening too fast" admits a nervous Sam. But with the congregation, his dad and Citra's father all watching on, Sam recites the Shahada, professes his faith and becomes Muslim. The question is, is he doing this for the right reasons?

As a Muslim, a convert of over 30 years, it is important that no matter your faith that you are equally yoked. Maybe this marriage and having a Muslim father is just what he needs to straighten out his life. I feel sad for him that his mother put her feelings ahead of her son's and his wedding. You can't get that time back. I pray that the couple take their vows to both Islam and their marriage seriously and wish for them only the best.

If there's a situation where the man does not provide for 3 months, as in abandoning a family,
he has abandoned responsibility as a husband and it means automatic divorce.
Also any sheikh/imam can approve a divorce for you.
And Islam has rules for divorce where no man or woman can take any funds/assets/property prior to marriage or bought with their own money.
But anything jointly owned during the marriage is split fairly.

As a revert myself, this is so sad. If you revert to marry someone rather than because you believe in Allah and Islam you won’t be happy. Women have so many rights in Islam which is why are only allowed to marry Muslim men to fulfil these rights. He’s going to be taking on a lot of responsibility and new traditions for something he was unsure about. May Allah guide him and make this easy

What rights do the women have that they're forced to wear the head covering? For the part where in some Islamic marriages there is more than one wife allowed but never of course more than one husband for the wife? If you don't mind letting me know what rights do Muslim women have? Maybe I am very mistaken, but from what I know about Muslim women they actually do not have as many rights as the men. I know Sam doesn’t know anything about Islam and he reverted so he could marry Citra, but we shouldn’t be so judgmental. Watching him take his Shahdah put a big smile on my face. You could see he was trying. The Almighty accepts any sincere act from his servant and forgives the most sinful individuals because He’s the Most Compassionate and the Most Merciful. Islam teaches us to only rely on God, pray, fast, give alms, and be a good person. When I became a revert, I didn’t know how to pray and I didn’t wear hijab, but now I do, Alhamdulilah. 🥰 May God Almighty grant Sam knowledge of Islam, and guide Sam and Citra to the righteous path, don't allow them to get tempted by satan and his devils, Amen. 🤲🏻

A lot of "not the strictest" muslims drink alchohol. In "free" countries. The Quran doesnt actually forbid alchohol per se, but the state of being intoxicated. So an Imam friend told me once. Even in theocracies the black market is huge ... Besides, most christians eat plenty of foods forbidden in the Bible.

Don’t believe these so called liberal Muslims. The Quran does forbid alcohol. However this was done in stages, as the companions of the prophet were still drinking at the beginning and it took time to wean them off alcohol. Remember the Quran was send over 23 years. The last message indicated: ‘’O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone altars [to other than Allah], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful. (5:90)’’. It may be a cultural thing to drink, however remember that Islam does not follow culture. It follows the Holy book and the Hadith.

I think Citra is just an ID muslim since in indonesia you must have a religion on your ID, away from Indonesia and the muslim pressure she'll probably not pay too much attention to islamic rules, much less Sam who probably doesn't even know what islam is all about.

for anyone who are confused about Citra lifestyle as muslimah. In Indonesia, we practice religion as human right. Some practice it very tight, and some are just more liberal. For example if u r muslim but drink alcohol or eating pork in restaurant, most people don't give a damn . Maybe your close friends or family will ask "why u do that? it is haram", as an act of caring.
Last, an advice for anyone who date INDONESIAN MUSLIM GIRL. No matter how liberal she looks or acts like western, once you wanna serious with her, she will EXPECT you to CONVERT before marry.

Or any religion for that matter! Fourthly and finally! I’m bewildered to see how many people don’t realise that Allah is simply the Arabic word for god!
