Hey Evan, you’re videos are very helpful… I’ve been watching your videos for a while now … learnt about the pro mist filter here first and I don’t know why but I’ve seen a lot of videos but this morning I watched two of your videos with respect to editing and getting the colours right and suddenly it just clicked. Thank you for all your efforts man. Wish you the very best in life! I just want clarity in one part of photography - how do you go about whiteblance ? - what’s you’re process Do you leave it in auto and then adjust it to the way you saw the picture in person or just mess around the kelvin numbers in camera to what matches closely to what you’re seeing or use a whibal card? How do you go about ? The only thing that seems like an issue is that if don’t match the white balance exactly on scene and then later forget what the scene looked like in person - otherwise it’s not an issue But would like to know you’re process and what works for you as I assume you would have had to process a larger number of photos from various shoots/lights / conditions all at once. Thank you
Hey. I plan on doing night street photography when I heal. I had my gallbladder out last Friday (4/16/2021). It was an emergency surgery, had a gallstone attack. Your videos have been my entertainment since I haven't been able to go out. I am hoping to go this weekend (depends on how I feel). I appreciate the hard work. Thanks for the content.
Can’t tell you how much inspiration you give me. I have shot more since discovering your channel. Trying to work up the guts to make my own channel but I hate being on camera and can’t seem to get over that hurdle!
Try making practice videos, just make the kind of videos you want but make them only for yourself to watch back and critique until you feel like you’re ready
Really nice tips. It’s been so upsetting to feel intimidated to go out at night to shoot lately since here in Los Angeles we’ve been having a huge spike in armed robbery, especially in downtown which happens to be one of my favorite places to shoot. It’s getting to the point I have to be on my toes in broad daylight which is frustrating when you are just trying to enjoy the city. Keeping your camera in the bag up until you shoot is good advice for sure but at the same time it can be the reason you miss the shot that happened in an instant. I guess this makes getting those shots all the more satisfying and meaningful.
Dopeness as usual. I watch the channel a little extra because it gives me great ideas for video and photo locations here in Atlanta. If you ever need a extra set of eyes for a night shoot, or any help shooting BTS I would love to link and maybe do a collab. Anyway keep creating and looking forward to seeing more shoots this year.
Another safety tip is to have a spotter with you to warn of traffic hazards.. I do alot of storefront night stuff and cars can really sneak up on you while you're framing and shooting a shot!
one really important thing you didn't mention is water (yes at some point you say reflections) just carry a bottle opf water with you everywhere to help with reflections, in nearly all your photos there is a wet surface or a puddle to make the reflection another tip might be just to carry water with you
Hey Evan love you're channel bud! I'm just starting out and you're channel is so helpfull and informative. I'm trying to soak up all the techniques, tips and tricks I can, and you're tutorial's and video's are a wealth of really sound advice and inspiration for me. Thanks bud, and keep up the great work!
great tips man! I have a question about your first tip. When using a camera that doesn’t have a full frame sensor (an APS-C in my case) do I have to apply the conversion to full frame? for example, if i’m using a 35mm lens on my APA-C camera (around 50mm equivalent) my shutter speed should be double, so around 1/100 of a second?
This was great, really cool to see the environment footage and what it looked like to just anyone, then with your artist eye, what you captured out of it in your final photos (before and after kind of).
5:50 You didn't mention it, but using an umbrella during rain photography is such a simple tip that I didn't even consider -.- I should be ashamed of myself xD
first of all i love your videos and your work, one question about hack number #1 about shutter speed, does the same apply to aps-c cameras since they have a crop factor of 1.5?
Awesome tips! Great to hear someone talking about the safety of street photography. It's definitely intimidating in a new area if you don't have anyone with you.
My question is why do night street photography? Other than for being a hobby, is there a way to make money from it? Other than stock websites of course
Always great content Evan!! I have a Nikon D5300 Red edition with tampon 18-270 glass, as well as the stock kit lens, I like this camera, because it’s my means of capturing , then I edit, I am looking to go mirror less, but am on a budget... what do u recommend? Thx
My city is dark because of Corona. People are doing home-office and all buildings are empty and dark. Not the best times for street photography at night 😂.
Bonjour.
Love your content. One favour to ask. Can you talk a bit slower? I have to rewind some of your clips to keep up. Is it just me? I understand if your audience can keep up. You're still dope! But talk slower if you can afford it :).
That image at 3:03 is sooo good!
Been turning into one of my favourite photographers/channels, always giving me inspiration to get out and take some shots 🤙🏻
Love to hear that, thanks for watching!
I've never seen a video deliver so clearly on what the intention was in the title. Thank you for the "hacks!"
That diner photo with the car roof reflection was insane!!!

Evan it’s impressive how your process seems so natural, so clean, so clear👏🏼

I’m local in NYC and can hang with you while taking night photography. I can also learn from a pro.
Can’t tell you how much inspiration you give me. I have shot more since discovering your channel. Trying to work up the guts to make my own channel but I hate being on camera and can’t seem to get over that hurdle!
All you can do is start and ease into it, sometime getting over it is just doing it. You never know where it will take. But I do understand.
Try making practice videos, just make the kind of videos you want but make them only for yourself to watch back and critique until you feel like you’re ready
@@mylegsasleep1934 good idea.
NY pics were absolutely amazing!
I love those night photography days honestly. Specially with some rain. Loved the video man!
Never heard of the pro mist filter before...definitely going to pick up one of those...thanks!

Sick of skillshare and squarespace gang
one really important thing you didn't mention is water (yes at some point you say reflections)

another tip might be just to carry water with you
You're amazing bro

Man you're looking like B J Novak aka Ryan from Office 😂 Anyways great video 👌
Good tips. I find night photography easier myself. I like being left alone when I’m shooting haha

Inspiring as always. Thanks Evan.
Great vid! What’s your cutoff point for iso range? 6400 or would you go higher? Thanks
Any quick tips for photographing neon lights? Not sure what camera settings are correct for getting the most realistic, true to life photos.
Expose for the highlights
Great practical tips mate 👌

Great this really enjoyed it
That Shutter Speed = Focal Length 2x trick, is it the same for crop cameras? How does it work with APS-C?
great pics of atl bro
The nice thing is that you didn't tell me anything I didn't know. Love from Florida/Taipei.
Next video including long exposures?:) awesome already a new video after yesterday😍🎉

Dopeee great job lad where is this location at ? 3:50
Calm york
hey man nice video! about the iso let in Auto mode, and let the noise pump?
I live in South Africa 🇿🇦 and you need to keep you head on a swivel when out shooting in or near the city.
Your population should start making better choices at election time then
Oh, sorry. I thought this was a film channel. Is there something difficult about shooting digital at night?
Hurr hurr hurr
Are you in Miami? I would love to shoot with you bro it would be a pleasure
ARE WE BOTH IN NY?!?!
+1 subs for you brother
Personally I’m way more comfortable shooting at night. I find daytime stuff in busy cities much more intimidating.
I can relate heavily to that, although I live in a small village in Germany 😜😄
My city is dark because of Corona. People are doing home-office and all buildings are empty and dark. Not the best times for street photography at night 😂.
Did you ever give away that Fuji XH? I never saw who won it. Or maybe you were joking...or maybe is was April fools day?
50mm prime = 1/100s 😄😄😄 that would take me to 12500 ISO
👍🏾
Hey
What’s good!
It doesn't hurt to carry a pocket knife when out taking photos. Makes me feel more safe if someone was to approach me.
I would suggest a pepper spray, a knife can really make a dangerous situation even more dangerous
@They Caged Non so you can brandish a weapon? carrying a gun is similar, you have it to show it more than to use it.
@@VibingTacos doesn't hurt to have both
@They Caged Non can't say thats the case in major american cities
@They Caged Non So, them attacking me without a way to defend myself is the better option? Okay bro lol.
I Carry A Hatchet In My Back Pack
What if they steal your backpack?
Simple. You want to feel safer during night time photography....take a heavy metal tripod with you. That is your defence.
Or live somewhere where proper self defense tools aren't illegal and they don't treat robbers better than robbery victims
