Had the original M7 back in 2005. I would walk into a room and leave a mark of greatness. It was brilliant.

The box you showed is the reformulated one.
The original from 2002 has only 4 ingredients listed on the back: alcohol, aqua, parfum and benzophenone 1.
The strange thing is that the sides of the bottle you showed are brown and not transparent like the reformulation from 2008.
I haven't seen this so far.
I freak'n LOVE this fragrance... I have a bottle of the 4 ingredient original version of it and I HATE using it... I need to get my nose on the Oud Absolu version of this so I can have a more on an everyday wear type bottle and save the original for special occasions... My wife hates the way the bottle looks but loves the fragrance as long as she doesn't know it came out of 'that' bottle... LOL!!! Thank you very much for giving us you take on this one Steven...
Great review, as a fragrance collecter, I personally owns ALL versions of this(3). There is not much difference between the first version and the reformulated one. Sometimes reformulated last longer than the original. Oud absolu is a lot different than the first 2. Patchouli is very prominent in oud Absolu. You need to try M7 fresh. It is damn good also.
I actually own JV platinum also. It is totally different than the rest of them. I think the best from the line of JV is the vintage one. It last 8 to 10 hrs.

Interesting, I have come across several comments and reviews about M7 being „powdery”, which I do not get at all - for me this is basically a smokebomb (and you don't mention smoke at all).
I own both vintage-M7 and Oud Absolu. I agree that M7OA is a bit more versatile, but also has a more varied development, it's warmer, offers more interesting details, while the original is a bit bolder and more aggressive. Both last on me quite the same with the same strong projection. They are a bit different, but both feature that exact same aroma of dried fruits, moldy wood and smoke.

Excellent review! M7 is a great fragrance and I really like it....but it's over-hyped within the fragrance community, IMO, and M7 Oud Absolute is just as good as the reformulation.
M7 doesn't generate a lot of compliments, but I enjoy wearing it for myself. Hopefully someone will come across a Middle Eastern fragrance that smells very similar to the original (four ingredient) formulation since I don't feel it is worth the $250 asking price. It's very but not a Classic.

Hi Steven. I came across M7 yesterday on a local online reseller similar to Ebay here in Switzerland. It was listed as "M7 Oud" 80 ml. for 50 dollars. The label only says M7. But the bottle looked more like the M7 absolute bottle design. And the box was square, black with the M7 in a red square. Is this a later version? The reseller has over 2,000 positive reviews and the product is listed as unopened. I love woody and oriental fragrances, as well as resins, especially amber. I've tried J. Bogart's one man show oud edition and can't stand it. But this sounds amazing 👏😍. I love me a good cold weather, powerhouse frag. If it's real the price sounds good to me. What thinketh thou?

This was my first frag about 15 years ago - i smelt it on by brother in law and loved it so he got me a 50ml bottle for my bday. Still love it and one of my all time favs. Tried the M7 oud Absolu a couple years ago - really not as good; the scent is nice but not as intense or high quality as the OG, also performance was far worse, hardly got 4-5 hours. Currently got a 100ml OG formulae bottle, but because it is discontinued and becoming rare, I hardly ever use it! I might pick another one up on eBay for actual use!

Not being gay here, but you look so much better without that awful beard, man !! Great review. I definitely get the artificial synthetic cough syrup cherry vibe from old M7. Therefore I actually prefer the new M7 Absolute. Which is why I own the new one and sold my old bottle. Cheers, Claus

I don't get it, I have a bottle of m7 our absolu which to my understanding is the reformulated version of the original m7, but the production date on my Oud absolu is 2002. So how can it be a replacement if the original was still around that time ?
