- The Gary Ablett show will have a final act.
A Grand Final act, to be completely accurate, after the champion Cat helped steer Geelong to a commanding 40-point win over Brisbane in Saturday night's preliminary final.
It means although this year's flag decider has been shifted to Queensland, in what is the starkest example of COVID-19's impact on football, the 2020 premiership will head back to Victoria as the Cats take on fellow powerhouse Richmond at the Gabba next Saturday night.

Yeah they said that on the channel 7 coverage and they also said this is only the third time ever that the top 2 teams have missed the grand final, and it's the first time ever that the 2 grand finalists have both had a loss in the finals on their way through. There hasn't even been an all Victorian grand final since 2011. Both prelim home teams losing is probably pretty rare as well.

Dangerfield throw was a reminisce of Dusty’s throw the year before. It must be a Lion’s or Gabba curse.
It was pretty funny and I'm sure many people will carrry on about it as if that was the reason they lost, hahah. But when people do that they forget there were other bad or missed calls which went the other way too.

It hit the post. The fact that the 3 cats players were looking at the goal umpire before he called it was the giveaway. Furthermore, it wasn’t a drop punt that can swing. It was mongrel kick that was clearly tracking one way and then it took a right turn at the last second. Mongrel kicks dont do that. Yes They don’t spin correctly but they do track the one and float the one direction. That mongrel kick defined physics. It’s BS. It hit the post. They just didn’t review it due to the arrogance of the goal ump thinking he knew it

That evened it up for the earlier shocker but then the umps gave Brissy another free later on.
Umps gave brisbane plenty of crappy frees early that gave them shots at goal. AFL only seem to care about the Dangerfield throw for some reason 🤔

Man, Geelong finally broke their preliminary final curse after 4 prelim losses in a row, and an all VIC grand final since 2011. What a year.
Brisbane already thought they warranted a grand final position because it was at the Gabba, and we beat them!

they are not going to be easy to beat. As good as richmond are, they won't be smashing them like they did to adelaide and GWS in the 2017 and 2019 grand final. If richmond win, this will be at the death. Geelong are the most experienced team in the comp in both age and finals played. They wont be going down that that easy. I'm so sick of Richmond being afls teachers pet for many years. I really hope Geelong wins it
I think the qualifying finals and the chance in the finals do not make any sense. I mean, in the end all four clubs that played the preliminary finals won one and lost one.. but two of them were eliminated. I understand the qualifying finals are played with a lot less pressure and hence are easier, and the preliminary finals are much more decisive, pressured and challenging, so it's what really counts. But it feels like the win in the qualifying finals is pretty much useless and even makes the winning clubs lose momentum for having a bye. I believe the appropriate formula would be:
- Week1 1st x 8th, 2nd x 7th, 3rd x 6th, 4th x 5th. Then the four winners advance to the preliminary finals and then grand final. no semi-finals anymore.
Nah the double chance is great, but the pre-finals bye ruins it.

what's the point of playing a stronger opponent and then giving you a chance? better play a weaker opponent first and then the stronger one in the prelim final, as it would be anyway with the chance.
I am so happy they won. They missed a lot of goals and the score could have been bigger, but I also wonder if they actually did better getting behinds because it seemed like the Lions couldn't get out of their own end for most of the second half.
Otherwise I was nervous everytime they would get in our end of the field.

All this talk in previous years about the disadvantages of being an interstate team travelling to the MCG for the grand final. Basically the entire season took place outside Vic and two Victorian teams take out interstate teams on their home grounds to make the GF 🤔

That’s the thing, Geelong has such a big forward line, it will be interesting how the forward line takes Richmond’s defences. Also Brisbane isn’t to experienced and they are really young so they aren’t the greatest with high stakes finals.
