The micro switches are around $30 each, they are pretty simple to replace if your are a little mechanically inclined. I had an 05 4.6l and i now have an 06 STS+4. I really love these cars. I'm looking at getting an XTS, but I've not completely made up my mind yet. I am too attached to mine.
I have since fixed the door handle, actually turns out that the door lock actuator was bad so I replaced that, I also replaced the microswitch but the keyless unlock didnt work, so im guessing the handle itself that has the antenna is bad, but atleast now I can unlock it with the keyfob and not have to use the actual key again

The xts is nice, execially if you can find the v sport version although it's pretty rare
