Love the music. You mentioned in the description that you needed to access the healthcare system. Like you state and from all others I hear it is very affordable as is dental work. There are many people from all over that fly in for their dental work. Just make sure the dentist or surgeon is highly recommended. Belgrade is more pricey than some smaller cities, but I think it has some of the best doctors and dentists in the Balkans if not Europe. One thing I won't miss about the States is the suburbs. Did you visit Zemun neighborhood? It's located on the shores of Danube, and has an Austrian vibe, with many baroque churches.. It's definitely more river focused that the rest of Belgrade, everybody in Zemun has a boat... Facades of old Town have been restored recently. Definitely one of the most beautiful parts of Belgrade..
@Laszlo Karacsonyi You must have mental telepathy! We are working on that video right now! We loved Zemun! What a delightful place to live. I feed the swans and we walked up to Gardos for sunset. They had the best pljeskavice right there in the square. Yum!
This is a great video! thank you for sharing. I've done some research into the housing in Serbia and one of the things that stood out to me is the affordable cost of apartments and houses in Serbia. For example, in certain cities, it is possible to buy brand new one or two bedroom apartments for about $50K Euros. In smaller cities and villages, it is possible to buy houses for the same amount or much less, that are in good condition. Serbia banks generally require a 20% downpayment on homes, but make exceptions and reduce the downpayment amount necessary for first time home buyers and many banks also offer mortgages to foreigners. With the low cost of homes and apartments, it is theroretically cheaper to own a home then rent in Serbia. For example, using the example of a $50,000 Euro home or an apartment and a 20% downpayment ($10,000), a 20 year morgage at 4.99% interest rate would work out to only $264.00 Euros a month (or $288.00 US). As a result of the affordable home costs in Serbia, it has some of the highest home ownership rates in the world at over 90% and is a great country for foreigners and expats to own property in.
@@jelenajm1160 Thank you, spoken as a true mortgage broker. We should know that was our profession for 40 years. Thx for your kind comment and watching!

@My Mystical Wisdom What is the difference between a gibanica and a burek? The lady had it listed as a burek. The only thing we found when we Googled it was eggs? Is that right?
I hope that you will stay a bit longer in Belgrade. Maybe you will become a real Belgradians? I am positive that you wouldn't be bored. A lot of people speak English in Belgrade and you will learn Serbian by time. Also, plenty of Americans, British.... are living in Belgrade. And one important rule. People here work to live, not live to work.
@OliverGameplay You are so nice, hvala vam! That means a lot to us! So glad you said that..."you work to live" NOT "live to work"! We envied so many endearing lifestyles Belgradians do. We love to watch everyone having coffee in the cafes. You actually talk to one another without looking at your phone! Just the way Belgradians walk down the street made an impression on us. It's a lot of little things that made us realize your living your life on your terms. We are used to chasing our tails around in circles in the states. Then being to exhausted to take care of the things that make us happy. This is exactly why we are on the. road searching for a better way to live out lives! We are finally taking the time to enjoy of lives! We are headed back to the White City for another 90 days at the end of this month!! Yippee!! We'd stay longer if our visa allowed us. 2:02 Belgrade is home for around 100 000 - 150 000 Bosniaks, mostly muslims. 30% is from town called Novi Pazar in Serbia, it is region of Serbia where are Bosniaks majority. Rest is from Bosnia, war refugees in time of war between Serbs and Bosniaks-Croats in Bosnia. Basicaly it is the war between Serbia and international community, but it is a politics, we will not talk about it here.
Most Muslims in Belgrade identify themselves as Serbs, there are some from Bosnia, Gorani (Muslim Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija) and a few Roma. That mosque is from the period of the Ottoman Empire and the only mosque in Belgrade. In Novi Pazar, half of the Muslims identify as Serbs and half as Bosniaks.
@@amarillorose7810 Yep, but fact is that in Belgrade lives around 100 000 Bosniaks and more then that. Lot of them are war refugees, war in Bosnia. Yes, BG accepts large number of gypsies from Kosovo and southern part of central Serbia.

I will have to check out your other videos. It's nice to see a couple our age still traveling around. : ) Are you still in Belgrade? We are thinking of moving there in October. Take care.
@MarcoPolo Yes we are! That is a great idea, so excited for you! We have lived 6 out of the last 9 months in Belgrade. We have to leave in a few days, we're at the end of our 90 days. 😢 We are thinking of obtaining our residency on our return visit. All the best!
Wow, loved it! Thank you for making great videos like this, you loving it here really makes my heart happy 🥰😘💖

Thank you for the suggestion and for watching our video. We will be posting more often. We had a bit of a learning curve to figure out how to work our equipment and edit videos. lol! Thx for the support!
@@WeierOuttaHere Amazing! I hope you actually found the main square with the catholic church! Weirdly, many tourists never reach the market square, cause it's kinda tucked in... Looking forward to your video!
@@laszlokaracsonyi4884 Yes! We found the beautiful church and market! Great market, btw! Zemun is adorable! The swan took some of my skin off my thumb. 😂 I figured out how to present their snack to them right quick! We went to Zemun a couple times. I’m sure we’ll go back again.

Who is one idiot giving negative comment for this beautiful video???
@Slobodan Kasapinovic Thank you ☺️
Lady is gold
The pink stuff is " urnebes salata ", "hilarious salad" which contains young cheese and ground hot pepper. An unavoidable addition to a "pljeskavica"and "ćevapi".
@Marko Lav Thx for letting us know the name of it. Hilarious salad! That is funny! Totally agree, it is a must on ćevapi & pljeskavica! Soooo good! We have just been pointing at it up until now. lol
Just great

@Goran Šuković Totally agree! We can't stand ourselves! We are on diets! Waaay too much good food.... and a.... cold winter.... bad combo for us! We are on it! Probably too much pivo too!
When was this filmed? Looks like the weather is already pretty tolerable!
@Well Researched Person We filmed this video during September/October 2020. We will be back in Belgrade next month for another 90 days. We hear the spring in Belgrade is amazing. The weather was even pretty tolerable through the end of November. Thx for watching!
You were eating gibanica, dude!!!
Belgrade is on the top of our list of places we'd like to live permanently! The people such as yourself... have made us fall in love with your country! There is no way we'd get bored! There is so much to do! We have so many delightful stories about our unforgettable experiences while in Belgrade. Our hearts are so full! We can't wait to land in Belgrade!! You guys serioulsy need to consider buying a property somewhere in central Serbia, Šumadija or south part where everything is much cheeper than Belgrade, but also not far from it, so you can enjoy the diversities of nature and cuisines..
@Capo dii tuti Capi Wow! We just looked up Šumadija. What beautiful area and countryside! Šumadija is now on the list! Thank you for the suggestion! We did take a day trip out of Belgrade to Smederevo Fortress. We had an amazing day! We also saw Golubac and Ram Fortresses. Thx for watching! 😊

What did you like more about Dorcol - the dog crap on the streets or the smoke filled cafes and restaurants?
@Franz Josef When was the last time you were there? We never found either to be a problem. We spent 9 months in Belgrade off Knez Mihailova Street during all seasons.
@@WeierOuttaHere Maybe you were only outside then, so you did not notice that smoking is rampant in the cafes and restaurants there. Or, maybe you don't mind. Tell the truth, how many times did you step in dog crap while you were there?
2:02 Belgrade is home for around 100 000 - 150 000 Bosniaks, mostly muslims. 30% is from town called Novi Pazar in Serbia, it is region of Serbia where are Bosniaks majority.
Rest is from Bosnia, war refugees in time of war between Serbs and Bosniaks-Croats in Bosnia.
Basicaly it is the war between Serbia and international community, but it is a politics, we will not talk about it here.
@Hypatia TV Thank you for the comment and the information. We hope there is peace from here on out. We appreciate your support!
@Binsr Why?. What is wrong with my comment?. Around 100 - 150 thousands of Bosniaks lives in Belgrade, whats bad in that?.
