Weier Outta Here ✈️
США
Добавлен 19 апр 2020
Hello, we’re Scott and Shelley Weier from San Diego, California. In 2019, we sold our house and boarded a flight from Los Angeles to Destinations Unknown in search of a less-stressful, more enjoyable life -- and hopefully more affordable too! We are looking for a permanent retirement home -- absent of the drama now so omnipresent in the U.S. We are looking to better understand foreign cultures, cuisines and lifestyle ammenities such as housing, transportation and medical services. To figure all this stuff out, you need to have "boots on the ground" --- so we're going slow -- usually spending at least 30 days in a place (and sometimes much longer). Everywhere we go, we'll answer the question... "but could we actually live here?"
We are documenting our travels to show like-minded people that you can live a very good life outside of the U.S! Follow along and we'll show you what to expect when you live like a local in some very interesting countries! You can do this too!

The church was built on the place where Ottomans burned relics of Sava Nemanjic in 1594 during one of the many Serbian uprisings against the Turks. Saint Sava was a founder of the Serbian Orthodox Church and is now (and was always) considered one of the greatest figures in Serbian history. Also, he is the protector of the Serbian youth and students.

Very beautiful! And something seemed familiar and familiar to me. That's what I also see here. This is not a foreign temple for Russians either. After all, it was Russian artists who created a unique mosaic decoration with a total area of more than 15 thousand square meters. In November 2020, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic awarded the author of the mosaic decoration project of the temple of Academician Nikolai Mukhin with the highest award of the Republic of Serbia - the Order of the Serbian Flag of the first degree. The Church of St. Sava is one of the main cult long-term buildings in Serbia. The decision to erect it was taken by the authorities of the kingdom back in 1894. But then there was a long period of planning and coordination of the project and other historical events. Work on the cathedral was restored only in May 1986. The dome was completed in 1989, and in 2004 the official opening of the unfinished temple took place. Most likely, he had to spend a long time in this form, but in the early 2010s Vladimir Putin visited the cathedral in Belgrade. The Church of St. Sava made a powerful impression on the guest: outwardly almost completely finished giant structure, and inside - bare concrete. The now deceased Patriarch of Serbia Irinej asked Vladimir Putin if Russia would have the opportunity to help decorate the temple? To which I heard a confident: "It will be!" And already in 2014, a competition was held for the right to beautify the Temple and according to the results of it, a project was approved, which was implemented by the workshop of the MMO "UNESс0 Foundation" under the leadership of the People's Artist of the Russian Federation, academician Nikolai Mukhin. Ga*z*p*rom Ne*ft took over the financing of the work on the creation of the mosaic of the dome and the altar church of St. Sava in Belgrade - which is almost 3.5 thousand square meters of mosaic. The mosaic was created in Moscow, in the workshops of the Russian Academy of Arts. Later it was dismantled and sent to Belgrade, where the brought mosaic fragments were mounted on the walls of the temple.
@lanaburckhardt2621 We really appreciate the history lesson, thank you. St Sava is truly an unbelievable beautiful experience. All the best to you. 😊

As a Roman Catholic I would be happy to visit but the sound of my lower jaw dropping to the floor might disrupt the service of my Orthodox brothers. I should probably visit the Vatican first because if I see this first St. Peter will be big disappointment.. This is the most magnificent church in the world, with no competition from any other. Exquisite Exquisite X 10000. Only in Heaven can a more beautiful place be seen.
Madam Vaudelune you will enjoy them both! But, St. Sava will take your breath away. St. Peter’s is worth seeing too.
We have to take back Hagia Sofia in Konstantinopel.
Your videos are great and inspiring me to do this. I’m curious how you find places to live in each location and how far in advance you plan your stays.
John Stiller we really appreciate the kind words. The answer would depend on when you travel. During off season we’d book same day, sometimes. We got burned when COVID hit. We had 28 reservations for lodging, trains and planes. So now we don’t book too far in advance unless there is a cancellation option. We always contact the host before booking. The condo we’re staying in right now, in Alicante Spain, has 160€ a night posted on Airbnb We’re paying 39€ a nigh b/c we stay for a month or more at a time. The fact is that during the last months of Byzantine Constantinople, the Great Church had been avoided by the pious Orthodox, who had concluded that their cathedral had been contaminated by Catholic rites during the celebration of the union between the Orthodox and Catholic Churches in December 1452....... Muslims not only stole Hagia Sophia but you killed thousands who were taking refuge inside the church. It's been truly contaminated since the first "rock worshiper" (Muslim) put his feat on the entrance of the church. You can keep the building, without Christian liturgy and worship it's just walls and roofs. You are the ones praying towards a building containing a meteorite, not us. Muslims stole too the Holy Temple of Jerusalem , which is abomination towards the God Almighty.
Here we go again, turks justifying their crimes as usual

Ne laži turčine
It was not an abandoned building. It was used from December 1452 to May 1453 by the thousands of Uniate Christians who followed the Emperor's lead. The Church indeed did not fall as sn Orthodox Church but, as a Church united to Rome. However it was not abandoned. Indeed, the population fled to the Great Church where they were found and butchered or carried off as slaves by the invading army. So no, it was not abandoned.
@@BessarionBlackrose-be3oh Surely, abandoned. The head of Union church run away to Rome. No spritual activities took place. So, It was in abandoned. These are all documented by Byzantine priest. It is not bluff. If u have any strong authentic evidence, u can provide here.
THIS IS THE SECOND LARGEST ORTHODOX CHURCH IN THE WORLD AFTER HAGIA SOPHIA IN CONSTANTINOPLE IN TURKEY UNFORTUNATELY THE TURKS HAVE TURNED IT TO A MOSQUE. THIS CHURCH WAS BUILT AS A COPY OF HAGIA SOPHIA AT A SMALLER SCALE BUT STILL A GIANT IN AN ORTHODOX COUNTRY. IT WAS STARTED IN THE 1930'S BUT IT WAS FINISHED FEW YEARS AGO BECAUSE YUGOSLAVIA WAS UNDER THE COMMUNIST.

@@zahirhussain5913 What contaminated the Orthodox church was the 4th Crusade of 1204 with the Blessing of the pope the crusaders left Venice supposedly to go to Alexandria and Liberate the city from the Muslim turks but on the way to Alexandria they made a left turn and go to Constantinople there was not even one muslim there, so for 3 days they ransacked the city they killed Priests the race the Nuns inside the churches they stole the gold the silver the books they stole relics of saints and committed other atrocities and instilled a roman Catholic church for 60 years paying taxes to Rome. here we have the western church attacking the Eastern church. remember that the western patriarchate after they left the One Holy Catholic (not Roman) and Apostolic Church they took the name Roman Catholic in 1054 with the Schism when pope Leo sent this German Bishop Hubert to Constantinople and placed the anathema on the altar of Hagia Sophia in return the patriarch did the same Anathematized the Patriarchate of Rome. If the west wanted really a reunification they had a chance after the Anathema but Rome was not interested. For the Following: When Hubert returned to Pope Leo had died and some have said the The Excommunication was not valid but Rome had other ideas and started to invent changes and Heresies. How do you think we had the Renaissance it was the things that the crusaders stole from the east because the east never had the dark ages as in the west. they brought the books the money the gold the silver the schools the architecture and also brought Aristotle. would you believe that today in the west we have the fight between Plato and Aristotle between roman Catholics and protestant. we have Martin Luther who took Plato and later we have Aquinas and Aristotle. so Luther+Plato= old catholic Theology Aquinas+Aristotle= New catholic Theology. Therefore the west has been in Chaos for the past 969 years by taking the Philosophies of men and bringing them into religion. We have the Fights Between Plato and Aristotle who was a student of Plato.
