    Hey, I buyed the new S5. The Argument with the A5 50 TDI triggered me , so i configured the A5 50 tdi exactly like my S5. Every single upgrade is way more expensive in A Version so - A5 - 90780€ S5 - 93500.
    Good 3000€ for round about 80HP more and a S Badge - Mild Hybrid and second Charger (electric). its not such the great Deal you think it is. I think the S5 is the better Deal instead of the 50 TDI. The argument is... why you buy a 50Tdi instead of the S5 for only 3000€ on top.

    • @WiZe1972
      @WiZe1972  4 года назад +2

      Amplitude Studios Well, I just did the same exercise and here in Switzerland, the S5 ended up being 7000.- more expensive with the same options (Cars are more expensive over here) for just over 60HP (Not 80 as you wrote, 286 vs 347), it doesn’t make sense to me. I’m not against turbo Diesel engines, I’m against a turbo Diesel engine on an S5 😐

    I really like the A5/S5 facelift, it changed the car and made it look really aggressive yet classy. The TDI isn’t a bad idea, especially not in the S4, but in my opinion the S5 should’ve at least had an option for a TFSI. So the sporty guys get the TFSI and the ones that like a sleek shape but want good fuel economy go for diesel.

  • @quintaessenza5183
    @quintaessenza5183 2 года назад +4

    Ok, it's not emotional as the S5 with the petrol engine. Sound, revs and so on. I agree.
    But the Diesel S5 got 700 Nm of torque. It's a monstrous value!
    In many situations this S5 will be for sure faster than the one with sparks. I guess on short distances, i.g. during overtaking, it could be sometimes even quicker than a RS5 which has "only" 600 Nm. It depends on shifting, as the Diesel is notoriously way more elastic.
    In the matter of fact, with the tdi you don't perceive the acceleration inside the vehicle, because it does not rev up as the petrol engine. But the boost is there and is really strong.
    The petrol engine supremacy comes out if you drive constantly at high revs. This happens on a track; it's not a common driver condition on usual roads.
    Besides, today is the Diesel engine more eco-fiendly than the petrol engine: more efficient, less CO2. NOx and particulate are not a big issue any more.
    Ok, just for fun the petrol engine may be better.

      Audi‘s not at fault there tho, alot of countries, including germany, have retarded noise laws that force car manufacturers to do this.

      @shonc.100 3 года назад

      I agree, their diesel line ups for sedans/hatches are a disappointment in general. We only get S7 TDI in my country and while its not bad I don't see it as a true S model like the one in the US with 2.9 bi turbo. It just seems to me a gimmick to sell more expensive trims and/or get rid of diesel engines by slapping S badges on them before they stop producing them completely

    The sound is lackluster :( V8 petrol is definitely the way to go. Why would you spend this much to save a bit of fuel and less quality sound? The target audience for S5 isn't for a diesel... I personally believe.

    Actually this is a brilliant sales move from Audi. People on the internet say the petrol is better, the petrol sounds good, but they don't actually would buy or have bought the s5 petrol. The people who can actually afford this car like the diesel engine because they wanted an a5 that looks more sporty, has a little more power and also has decent fuel consumption for high mileage they drive. In 2-3 years you will see on the streets more diesels than petrol s5. Also, power wise, the performance is the same, so no complain if you don't hear the engine. If someone wants performance and feel and sound they will go all the way to rs5.
