    Great race Dave. Off topic: would you be willing to do a detailed process video on how you take your recorded races from iRacing, and getting them to RUclips? I've tried OBS a number of times and just can't get it right. Most of the tutorials I've watched on RUclips are out of date or poorly done or not great teachers. Your instructional videos have been great, and I think you could do the same quality of work with this. Good luck with your surgery and have a speedy recovery! See you soon.

    Being new to iRacing over the last week and a bit and still being in Rookie, I have learnt from watching you race for road circuits and another creator for ovals. Sure I still have to get in the car and get used to what they can do and get used to the tracks and actually driving them unlike GT7 using a controller but I am learning. Keep up the great content and have a speedy recovery.

    Great race Dave. I'd rather be lucky that good as they say. The bus stop is my Achillies heel at that track, so I only race the Classic Boot for that reason. I am an AI racer, so it works out really good for me 😄. Hope all went well, and look forward to seeing you back on the track really soon!

    Entertaining race!
    You're losing 3-4 tenths in the chicane because you don't use all the track available on entry. Your right wheels should be on the grass, that makes you avoid the bump and you can carry much more speed through the bus stop.

    Dave, I'm not a racer, just an avid motorsports fan with some 20-odd years' mileage, so perhaps I'm the last person to give suggestions, but watching your videos, I come to the conclusion that you're your worst enemy on the circuit! :) You just don't trust yourself like you deserve to and, in my opinion, you're paying WAY too much attention to what's going on the circuit up ahead and -- especially -- behind you! I mean, I understand this is a very needed thing to do in multiclass racing, but in a race like this I daresay it serves absolutely no purpose. Actually, it serves one: it works up your nerves and it takes your focus off THE SINGLE thing that really counts: "hitting each and every apex" :).
    Don't get me wrong: I understand it adds to the drama and stuff, so it's probably good for the entertainment value of your videos, but I honestly believe that you're a pretty quick driver when you put your mind to it.
    In this particular race: what was all that constant fretting about the Murray fellow?! He wasn't even much quicker than you when his car was in one piece (... okay, he was a little quicker, but extremely messy, which was exactly the reason he damaged his car ...) and after that basically all he was able to do was to barely stay in and out of your draft -- and that only because of the draft's assista. And yet, instead of just driving your proper stuff, you got all focused on the relative to an average, damaged opponent behind you. Dave, you're not giving yourself a chance to increase the distance in a situation like that by driving corners like any line would do. It's the driving that makes gains on the relative, not watching the relative :).

    • @davecamm
      @davecamm  2 года назад +2

      When you've raced people before and know how they drive, how erratic they are and how often they crash into others, that kinda becomes the focus.
      Plus, it's all part of the story. If I got my head down, said nothing and banged in the laps that wouldn't be very interesting for you guys would it? 😁
      How about you give it a whirl? I say that genuinely. If you love Motorsport you'd love sim racing 👍

    • @barsorrro
      @barsorrro 2 года назад +3

      @@davecamm Well, as to the last point, I have disabilities which make that impossible. I used to play some racing games in the past, but they admittedly were not sim-level realistic. So, yes, I'm a couch critic, and I'm ashamed of that, but I really couldn't stop myself... :)
      ... which brings me to the second point. I mean, I love your commentary, Dave. It's your personality that makes me watch you as practically the only sim-related creator regularly. I definitely wouldn't want you to stop talking. But as far as I am concerned, I wouldn't mind it at all if you focused a bit more on the race itself, on the consistency, etc. I mean, there's room for commentary there as well: what's wrong with verbalising your goals at approaching the next corner, reminding yourself what mistakes you don't want to make, talking yourself as well as us through the expected changes in the grip or in car balance due to tire wear and fuel consumption? To any racing fan these are all super-interesting things to listen to and to confront with one's own ideas as a viewer. A race has its own drama too -- whether you keep a constant watch of the relative or just check it out every now and again :).
      In summary: I certainly would love to see you drive to your full potential, Dave!

    Ive noticed most GT3 races always have a lot of Mercs, is it just outright better than the other GT3 cars? Or just the flavour of the month because its new? I only have the Lambo and the Ford and always seem to be the only one using those cars. Nice racing as always

    • @TheOnyxian

      Bit of both I suspect. It's a strong car which is relatively easy to drive compared to others and it's new so, lot of people driving it cos they just bought it. Another thing to consider is, due to it's considerable performance edge in terms of having a bit more hp than other cars, it's very strong here.

    Dave I've noticed over the last 3 videos you've been a lot more passive on track, just allowing people to dive in in front of you. I'm not suggesting start dive bombing people, but I wish you were a little better at keeping positions or trying to gain positions (without wishing on other people to make mistakes).
    Love your stuff, and keep up the great content.
