  • A new poll reveals that parents of K-12 students in Canada prioritize balanced, unbiased education, with 86% of parents advocating for factual teaching free from personal opinion or interpretation. Education policy analyst Paige MacPherson joined True North’s Andrew Lawton to break down the numbers and discuss the need for curriculum reforms that uphold academic integrity and neutrality.

It’s ridiculous that they ever allowed cell phone use in schools in the first place!

I was IT 12 years ago in our schools, it nearly cost me my job multiple times, setting up cell phone blocks and private WIFI students could not access and blocking phones in the schools.
in the end it was all my job on the line because we had one girl who was 16 who had babies that they had to be able to contact her, and beside her IT WAS THE STAFF THAT NEVER STOPPED CRYING THOSE SPINELESS MILLENIAL WOKE TEARS!!!
P.s. this was remote first nations schools that were overrun by white middle aged millennial women who were from places like south Africa or Europe, but the consistency was two fold 1. they never lived in Canada before.
and 2> they taught every student that white people Hate them and wanted then to not exist.

You never see the whole Land Acknowledgment nonsense in Taiwan with the Chinese settlers and aboriginals Pingpu and Gaoshan tribes, you don't see it in Arab colonies like Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Algeria, Lybia, Tunisia etc either. And the native Christian Assyrians and Maronites, the Copts, the Berbers living in those Arab countries, aren't treated 1/10 as well as the indigenous are being treated in Canada. Same story in Turkey with the native Greeks, Armenians and Assyrians, where 3 million of them got wiped out by the Turkish colonizers last century. And I could go on... Japan with the native Ainu, Congo and Uganda with the native Pygmies( 2 million as slaves). You will never find this wokery there, all the woke people apparently live in Canada, US, New Zeeland and Australia.

When I began my teaching career in the early 80s, facts and skills were the focus. However we were also guided to push positive self esteem which bred the millennials’ need to be validated for every little thing they produce or do….participation medal was born. What was key though was that parents were an integral part of the overall community of school and home. Parents had a big voice which kept us in line, but it was key to understand that the school’s role was to educate a child not raise them.

I have no skin in the game at the moment. My children have graduated post-secondary educational programs and are employed however, I have often thought that I would like to sit through various K-12 classes to see and hear what is being taught. I take seriously Jordan Peterson's comments about the teachers being predominantly far left and certified by their far left peers rather than the province. I fear for my Canada when these brain-washed children are leading things and people like me are not around to provide factual commentary.

Years ago when I wanted to get a better picture of what was being taught in local schools, I looked up the resources section of the local teacher's union website.
Let's just say that there was no attempt to hide the fact thst they were programming other people's children to not only be surrogates for their own 'progressive politics, but also training them to be activists. That activism stuff wasn't implied, it was stated openly.
This was probably 7-8 years ago now, so I can only image how the educational material section looks now, years into transgenderism, the residential school holocaust, anti-racism, and covid hysteria.

Cutting phones can be a double-edged sword. Many of those kids were their parents' eyes when it came to exposing the dirty crap activists masquerading as teachers were and continue to be up to. While I agree they are definitely a distraction, there should be strict guidelines about it's usage in the classroom, rather than complete suppression. Besides, the fact kids are addicted to phones is the parents' fault for not adequately guiding them to a healthy usage. Many just use them as glorified nannies to keep them quiet in a corner, seemingly oblivious about the addiction they're developing.

Facts over opinions can be challenging. In my daughters English class they did an assignment on “where are the people of colour in childrens books”. This article was about racial discrimination on the US in the 1950 and 60s. It used language like “white dominated world”. I questioned the teacher and principal on this, and their response was, “well it’s factual history so we can discuss it”. I was like, maybe you should just stick to teaching my kids about hyperboles, oxymorons and irony.

Since the implementation, in 1998 in Ontario, of the “new” curriculum, “new” assessment, evaluation, and reporting guidelines, and “new” reformed school organization, teching academic subjects was consistently reduced and replaced by non-academic social conditioning. Subject oriented expectations were continuously lowered to the lowest common denominator in each classroom. We stopped challenging students and celebrating academic achievement. Instead, we began, often seen as demoralizing, relaxed baby-sitting filled with excitement around sex, gender, and equity (not equality) related issues. This change was preceeded by reformed curricula at reformed teachers colleges and related university courses, ensuring that indoctrination of students was delivered by already indoctrinated new generation of teachers. Older teachers, who were not buying into this nonsense, were harassed and, in some cases, removed from the system. We see the results today, as students subjected to these new gudelines are reaching employment age. Academic competence is increasingly difficult to come by.
