Im no expert but you should leave a lead acid battery to settle before checking the voltage. Also a good voltage doesnt necessarily mean a good battery.

Lead acid batteries will show the transfer potential of the ions between the negative and positive posts. A volt meter will measure the electrical potential difference between the two leads.
But in 15 years testing charging systems and electrical diag I've never heard of having to let it settle before testing in fact to test the battery a main check is to test with vehicle off then while it's running to see if it goes to 13.9-14V from a healthy voltage with alternator charging, a healthy voltage of 12.6V is desired
@@CameronDC-Grimes put a voltmeter on the battery straight after it's come off charge. The voltage will be higher then measure again in 5 minutes. I can pretty much guarantee a different voltage.

After owning an '88 Renault Cherokee 4.0 it's likely a worn out, minimally-bladed electric fan that would cause over heating not the water pump 1000%. Stock mechanical fans do not suffice.

That jeep is a decent one with that 4.0 but the newer ones with the 3.8 then the 3.6 are junk I lost so much money on a jeep jk I had to work on it every other week I'd ride a bicycle on the side of the interstate before i ever own another jeep
