    Great video! If you didn't know Charley Crockett is a descendent of Davy Crockett who is a popular American folk hero. That's how his record label gets the name "Son Of Davy"

    My favorite one of his is called "Jamestown fairy"...Its a cover of a real old song about a girl he loved leaving and taking "The jamestown fairy"...Its more sort of up beat but it sounds so good another one is his title track of his new album called "Welcome to hard times"

    True kin to Davy. He’s got an incredible story. I would definitely suggest diving deeper into his music behind this channel.

    These songs on this album have a vintage Country vibe. He has sings that have more Blues, some you can hear the South Louisiana, zydeco vibe, very talented. "Welcome to Hard Times"

    Charley and shakey did really great sets at Willie's 4th of July Picnic this year. It was all streamed as things are over here but great performances by them and Vincent Neil Emerson. They were the highlight of the sort of live streamed portion. A lot of big names did 1 song in the prerecorded tribute section to close the picnic but those 3 were for sure the highlight for me.

    I love the time you give to the lyrics. Even with reaction channels being so popular right now I can say that is what makes you so unique.
    Charley Crockett is the modern day Journeyman. He has spent most of his life playing on the streets and in little clubs from Dallas toNew Orleans to New York and hopping train cars in between. He also spent a few years playing on the streets all through Europe. Hes often called the hardest working man in country music. He's got a really interest story. I would recommend in your own time to check out the Whiskey Riff Podcast interview with Charley.
    As far as music, In The Night is by far my favorite record from him and in my top 5 records of all time. The title track from that record is pretty good and has a cool video he filmed driving around Dallas which is my hometown which might make me a little bias. But Baby 1-2-3 is good and also I'm Workin'. A lot of blues/jazz/r&b influence on this record.

      I appreciate that brother! Some people listen to enjoy the melody, and I do enjoy the melody. But the story is what I’m really here for. Country seems to be the best genre at story telling that I’ve found so far. As for that education on Charley... I needed that! I’m picking up on that jazz influence!

    I think you are the first person that I have seen react to Charley Crockett! Thank you! He has a different sound and classic look! Love it! Can you react to "Borrowed Time"? I love watching your reactions! Thank you for doing what you do! 😊

    Could you please do these two from Charley Crockett as well?
    "I Feel For You"
    "I'm Just A Clown"
    He has simple, but great videos for each. Very rich sounds.

    After looking through your videos, I saw you have not listened to Midland on your channel yet. I think either "Drinkin' Problem" or "Burn Out" would be great choices for you. A little background is that there is a segment of Country fans that don't like some modern country bands and those people have gravitated to Midlands' music.

    I’ve seen Charley live before (he’s very good). I’m not sure I quite see the Michael Buble comparison. I always compare Charley to Marty Robbins, who was a 70s/80s country star. That song is off his new album which he released on the 31st of July. The title track, which he released earlier as a single, Welcome to Hard Times, is also a really good song. Should take a look at it if you have time. Good stuff!

    • @OliWilford
      @OliWilford  4 года назад +1

      I don’t know where I get that comparison for you know. I think it’s like the calmness in delivering his story. I also hear it in a UK singer called Plan B. They don’t sound the same at all. Maybe it’s just the feeling I get when I listen to each of them that’s consistent. I’ll take a look brother!

      Thinking about it. Maybe it’s this slight Jazz influence running through. I’m not a big listener of Jazz, so that may be why.

    Hey man! Love your videos. I'd love to hear you react to some Kip Moore. I'd suggest starting with "Guitar Man" or "Payin' Hard". Those are probably his two best lyrical standouts.

    Could you react to some Radius Rucker of You haven't heard him already? "Wagon Wheel" maybe, or another.
    And are you taking requests from any decade of music?

    • @OliWilford
      @OliWilford  4 года назад

      I would have done that one, although I already know the words off by heart. I'll check out some more for sure. The idea is that we create a big country community and I help push independent artists to people that may not have heard of them. However, in order to build the community and expand my knowledge of country, we need some of the established country music, too. So yeah, any recommendations are welcome and I'll try to fit them in!
