    My girlfriend and I watched this last night. The production quality is off the charts in this genre. Amazing spot you found to hunker down.
    It's criminal the algorithm doesn't reward this sort of quality by pushing it to more people. It's strange times when a guy filming himself, sleeping in an IKEA car park gets 10x the views.
    Obviously, it's not all about views. But it must be nice to feel your hard works being validated in some way.
    Looking forward to your next videos. That full frame goodness isn't wasted on me.

    • @JohnaAsh

      Wow, thank you so much. And yeah whilst I'm not that fussed over view counts, It's good to get into conversations with like-minded folk. I really just like to make videos and wanted to mix it with another big interest of mine, Some might see this style of filming one's self as OTT for a camping vlog; but the production quality is really the challenge I set myself, the camping is the joy. Looking at heading to Snowdon this summer so look out for the next one.
      (P.S.: Full-Frame all the way!)

    Rannoch Station (Loch Laidon) is my young teenage memory-bank - 1963-1965. Stayed in the Polmadie Anglers' Railway Club coach at Rannoch Station; introduced to me by my Grampa Brown. Woken up by the delicious smell of fresh trout cooked gently in real butter - the trout being supplied by the night-fishermen.
    After the trout starter, we fortified ourselves with ham/bacon, eggs, potato scones, black pudding, haggis, 'baked' beans and a slice of fried bread ... followed by (for me, a stripling of circa 14 years old) two slices of *well-fired* toast, washed down with some strong, sweet tea, replete with evaporated milk.
    Ramble over.
    Thank you for your own, personal, to-be future memories, Johna.

    • @JohnaAsh
      @JohnaAsh  2 года назад +1

      Aah that's interesting! As someone who makes videos professionally I've always looked with interest at the relatively new appeal of lower quality. Even broadcast commercials are using handheld phone footage quite regularly these days. So when making these videos, even though my instincts are always to get the cleanest, most stable shots I can, and edit them together for a smoother narrative, I did think there might be those who just prefer the raw appeal of a 1st-hand, unedited "Vloggy" style videos. But it's just not my style, A big part of these videos is to test out and make as good a video I can just by myself, otherwise I'd just go out and camp, and only take a few photos.
      (And the DP, Sound Op, Grips and a few Runners all stayed in the hotel 😉)

      Thank you for highlighting an important issue when it comes to modern wild camping attitudes:
      To everyone else reading this comment, don't be this guy. Wild camping can be an exhilarating, relaxing and mentally healing experience, but above all a safe one with good practices. Yes, many people go out on their own for a respite from their reliance on technology and screens, but a complete cut-off from any communication should never be the goal. The ONLY reason previous generations would not update someone back home of their movements/location is because they couldn't. Thankfully we live in an age where the joys of wild camping can be achieved by more people safely due to the fact that partners/parents/friends need not be worried because they know that you are safe and well. My very next gear purchase is a Garmin InReach so that I can have a satellite communication with me even in very remote/high altitude places. Spend time outdoors, reconnect with what matters to you, and always show your truest colours.

    • @JohnaAsh
      @JohnaAsh  2 года назад

      @@madcat1007 I'd offer the counterpoint that I don't think they do think that, nor have I ever noticed a singular taste in music that is particular for "RUclipsrs"; in this instance I went with some gentle, acoustic guitar (from what was scantly available royalty-free) as I felt it lent itself well to the peaceful and still landscape and the energy I felt when I was there.
      If my process is anything to go by I think most people uploading their own creative work to RUclips will create something that they themselves enjoy, and any like-minded audience will tend to find it and appreciate as well. There's no expectation at all that EVERYONE will enjoy it - nor should they - but perhaps there is an expectation that those who watch but don't like it will either pass it by peacefully or at least leave a courteous "Not my cup of tea".
