- I got the time to react to the final performance of Grito from Iolanda and the winning song that will represent Portugal in EUROVISION 2024. After a very long weekend in Sweden and at 2 am getting per WhatsApp the message that Iolanda won made me smile. It was the best option in my opinion... There were some other choices as well. But Iolanda was the best one.

Still my number one this year. I don’t know if she WILL advance to the final but in my world she definitely SHOULD! I’m going to lose my mind if she sings in Barcelona 😂
Watching previous years, Portugal entries always went to the pre parties. To almost all of them. So I guess Iolanda will be this year in Barcelona and Amsterdam.

I am also not sure if Grito is folk, but I think it has a folk touch, I can hear a bit of a Fado sound to it for example.

I get that is not for everyone and it might be thought to get attention from televote. She is on the 2nd half of the 1 semi is a thought one. If she gets to Final I believe that she will do better with the juries vote. Explaining the choreography, the dancers are/represent the flames and her demons and at the end she makes them disappear with her scream overcoming the struggle . Grito = scream . Hugs from Portugal

I feel it is more of an empowerment song, not mental health. i have Portuguese roots too and speak the language. It was more about empowerment, believing in oneself, not giving up on your dreams. I really hope it does well. A lot of foreigners seem to love it.

I was really surprised by the weird jury points for the other songs, and I never expected that the general public would prefer João's song over Iolanda (but she did come 2nd). I guess it was due the crazy amount of slow song FdC had this year 🤔 But i'm really happy with the result.
The song is about over coming your mental struggles / traumas, does the faceless dancers.
But it's still a ballad :P

About the festival yes !! Too many slow songs and I guess the people watching really were captured by Joāo … but still iolanda coming 2 in the Tele also means that people really liked iolanda as well. I just don’t know what people find in the other guys performance he had 5 Tele I think I don’t remember right now how he is called … it’s too early hahaha
I totally agree with you. I also can't call this song a ballad for some reason because it kinda gives me passive-aggressive vibes and is very very intense. It's the kind of song that ends and you just can't stop thinking about it for a while... Which I absolutely love!
