That car is really stunning. It literally looks like it was hermetically sealed for the past 57 years, and you just unsealed it and took this video. It isn’t just the condition of the car that is breathtaking, the original design is truly a masterpiece. Enjoy every moment with it.
wow. just wow. I can't even imagine what it cost or how long it took to restore this beauty. This is the car I have ALWAYS wanted since I was a kid. Either black or royal blue.
It doesn't get much better than this one and I love my 64 LeBaron. I bid on this but it sold for way beyond what I could afford. I had no business bidding on it in the first place but I couldn't resist.
Lovely example. In 1965 my 9 year old head thought about anyone could own a Caddy, and our airline pilot neighbor did. But if you owned an Imperial, you were a tycoon. The only car above it, I thought, was the RR Silver Cloud. Thanks for posting.
I grew up in the back seats of a 1964 Imperial Crown and a 1971 Imperial LaBaron. I love these cars. This one is an excellant example of how a classy car is.
I had a 66 4 door hardtop Crown, it was sliver with silver cloth seats trimmed in black leather. I thought these model years were the best-looking of all Imperials. They were originally designed to compete with Cadillac and Lincoln but never sold as well. I can't understand why the Imperial didn't sell better than it did. In 1966 the Imperial was fitted with Chrysler's famous 440. The power, the handling, and the comfort was far better than Cadillac and Lincoln. The Imperial is beautiful and elegant. One of my favorite features of the 65 and 66 was exclusive headlights under glass, a typical Chrysler styling que. The glass had a gold line that framed the headlights. I was always thought that all Chrysler Corporation cars had the headlights installed with a slight angle that gave the cars a look that they were looking up at you in a cute yet confident way. That gave the cars a pleasant personality. I really loved my 66, I wish I still had it, which is what I say about all the cars I've owned. After all I wouldn't have owned them if I didn't feel that way. "To death do I part." Funny how I only feel that way about my cars. I've never felt that way about any human that I've known. These Imperials look like royalty in all black.
Guy responsible for this Imperial's design was responsible for the equally elegant 61 Lincoln Continental. Elwood Engel, Chrysler's chief designer from 1961 to 1974.
And you can easily see it too. One of the better looking sedans for that time. Incidentally though, the French car company Facile Vega made a sedan called the Excellence that bared a striking resemblance to the Continental in many ways, with the same front wheel arche, C-pillar design and get this, suicide doors as well, AND it was a design that predates the Continental by three years so I'm thinking Elwood got his ideas from a French car that nobody in America even knew existed. ruclips.net/video/bZsoyFhee_w/видео.html
To say, "pristine", would be an understatement. One of my all-time Elwood Engel favorites. I drove at least 6 or 7 of these back in the late '70's. I was trying to find the right one as my first car. That was back when they were still considered a used car. But this one is the "Mrs. Drysdale" that I never found. Gorgeous in every way. I would only add the Imperial Performance Package, which included the dual snorkel air cleaner and dual exhausts for the 413.
My very first car was a 64' imperial. It was the last year for the 413ci wedge and the bush button Trans. A few 413s went into some of the early 65s but they were mostly 440ci. I loved that car, it's still the one that got away.
I noticed the trunk lid doesn't open very wide, but Wow these beautys were really built well an luxury throughout adores these timeless classics of yesteryear! NICE!👍
An Imperial LeBaron. Nice. The Imperial Crown was the Green Hornet’s car, and you can’t hardly find ‘65 Imperials like this anymore because of that. And it’s built by Chrysler, but it ain’t a “Chrysler Imperial.”
Truly the pinnacle of American style, understated luxury, and engineering prowess… Epitomizes everything that our Country produced, before the Federal government got involved to “fix” everything. Thanks for sharing!
@@jamesmcinnis208 I would have rather heard him start the engine and give a close up of the exhaust pipes chuggin away. Car enthusiast need to see this stuff.
Really stunning vehicle! I didn't realize the lock cylinder for the trunk was without that apron or whatever it's called, but it's perfect. If it were the other way it would be ugly. 😉
Top of the line Mopar for '65. This is the kind of car people would aspire to when they were climbing the ladder of success back in those days. I have a '65 Belvedere II 4 door sedan that my parents ordered new in April of that year. It's black and looks just like the Imp! [ not really! ] Great video by the way!
I still have a midnight blue one & I love it but I need to down size , l am getting older now. I got the car from my Dad. I am on Facebook. Love the video. Rand Whittemore in Houston, TX USA.
Gorgeous classy car. The vinyl on the roof didnt look like the usual vinyl that we used to see on cars. The embossing looked different. Maybe it was the lighting or whatever. But it looked different. Great...but different.
I took my drivers test age 16 in 1965 chrysler imperial 4 door just like this except it was a goldish color with brown vinyl top. In a rural mountanous town. The Drivers instructor at the local State Police station told me to make next left.... I did! It was the tiniest narrow alley. He laughed. He said oh my i meant the next larger street. You were correct however . It was a street! I went back and parallel parked it. I was 16 female and 5ft tall and weighed only 110 lbs. I had a cushion to sit on! It was to me like piloting a boat. My only other choice was a !959 Lincoln 4 door premier. I chose the imperial. The dual mufflers on th lincoln were "a rumbling" loudly! Great times. My dad liked his big facny cars. I also have a fondness for all things automotive. 8:05
You should be playing classical music to go with this stunning classic beauty. I watch the Beverly Hillbillies & the Drysdales have a beautiful Chrysler limo.
added note: I owned a 65 triple black Crown Coupe Imperial.....see turned heads ....I feel 1965 was one of the sharpest designed Imperial....the Lebaron here is a time machine......awesome car
@@pennise yeah, I actually SAW the problem with that. The smog over San Diego in the 1970s was literally visible. Since catalytic converters have been on cars for decades now, most people are too young to know how much these cars polluted the air. @@michaeljordan9879 Overpopulation is the real problem my friend. These electric cars will pollute far more with the ultra toxic guts of the battery which can't be recycled just thrown in some top secret waste dump polluting our waters.
Beautiful. I feel like this era of Imperials were the closest thing to American Rolls-Royce, without neoclassical styling. The Mid-century modern luxury car.
This car is another American beauty. Imagine taking a long haul from say Chicago to San Francisco, using I 80 as your pathway. It would be fun, even if a bit boring.
When we were growing up in the 80's, the LeBaron was one of the biggest pieces of poop you could get. A rolling embarrassment. This car, on the other hand, is pure coolness.
I had a 64 Crown that was very nice but I was nowhere near this one. I have a 1970 Oldsmobile 98 convertible now that I would trade for this in a heartbeat.
This car is just ridiculously beautiful, I can't even think of any other way to describe it🔥🔥

I read once that some Imperials cost more than a Rolls.....
Elwood Engel is such an underrated stylist. He totally remade the American luxury sedan into his own personal vision
You can see the Lincoln touches in this car, he did the Lincoln and it worked out nicely
Gorgeous car, exquisite leather interior, beautiful, clean understated styling. Like the day it came out of the factory! What a beauty!
