@@CateSculpts you are very welcome 🤗
The weathering on the sails turned out great, gave the boat some character. Also nailed the blend on the water
Some tips that I picked up that make plaster a bit more reliable:
Apparently the best mix is around 0,7 water for every 1 part plaster
Dont dump water over it. Pour the plaster into the water, then let it sit there undisturbed for a little bit to hydrate it. For that quantity you had I think around 30 seconds would do. Then you start mixing and keep doing it, even if it looks like it's already 100% mixed. Again, depends on the amount of plaster, but I found that mixing for at least a minute to a minute and a half (maybe more) makes it more resistant.
You can also go over it after it dried with watered down white glue, as it's very porous, it sucks up the water and the glue dries inside it. Probably wouldn't prevent it from coming off of the clay like it happened in the video, but helps if the plaster itself is breaking. Some people also put glue in the initial mix.
Extra tip, if you want it to harden faster use warm water (but this also reduces the time you have to work with it)
Thank you! Also thanks for the tips, I'll definitely put that to practise next time! Honestly I haven't worked with plaster very much, so it's definitely good to know what to do. Thank you for the advice!! ☺️
beautiful
