- Trader Joe's has finally released some NEW items after weeks off. My pantry was getting rather bare so I loaded up on fresh produce items, whole foods, fruits, vegetables, beer, all the new items and everything else I needed to feed my family for the week.

I have really been enjoying the recipes posted on Instagram! I am so happy to have some dinner ideas that are on the healthy side - its so hard to know what to cook.
Yay so glad you are liking them!
@@KatieHespeHi!!!!!
With the Korean Rice balls…..I heated it in microwave 1 min and then in a hot skillet with a just a smear of oil to get it a little crisp!!
Then a little sriracha ( or like a spicy mayo)
Katie, a warning. You said you were going put that mint in your garden. That is a very invasive and prolific plant. To say it grows like a weed is an understatement. It will grow so fast and take over your whole garden I’d like to suggest you keep it in a pot or a planter and you will absolutely have more mint than you could ever use. Best! ❤
Yes. Be warned.
Yes I always pot my mint. 😀
YES, It’s very, very aggressive!!! Heed the warning!!!
I was just about to post the exact same thing.
Potted is the only way to go. ❤
I haven’t paid attention to the comments but your videos lately seem like you are spending a lot of time justifying what you are doing/buying to your audience, which you totally don’t need to do lol. My humble suggestion is don’t worry about it and don’t feel any need to explain away guilty pleasures (which we all have!)😜 on the flip side it’s awesome you are also emphasizing your healthier choices and it’s always nice to hear tips and ideas on how to incorporate healthier ingredients(especially any way that is simple/fast). My issue is I’m terrible at cooking at home/cooking from scratch and I end up getting so much premade stuff, that gets terrible for you after awhile
I think this is the first time in a long time I’ve addressed negative comments. I do feel like I’ve created a community here so when I was sick and MIA for a little while I wanted to let everyone know what was going on. I do appreciate the sentiment and where you’re coming from but I’m totally comfortable talking about my lifestyle and how I approach certain things here on my channel. Enjoy your weekend!
To princess, don't feel bad about not cooking. This small frozen meals really help me take the hassle out of what to feed my 91 yr old mom once in a while. Moderation.
People have been drinking alcohol for thousands of years and you are right - it's about moderation. When people go crazy with a new lifestyle, they often fail. You are doing it righ!!
Thank you ❤️
It's all about balance, right?!
I eat so healthy.
red wine has my heart. ❤🥂
Yes exactly! Same 🍷
You are doing great! Life is too short to give up all the things you love!
I agree!
You do you. People need to zip it more often. ❤
I was about to say the same thing. People have a lot of extra nerve to be rude when they are hiding behind a screen. It takes courage to put yourself out there and for people to judge and comment on every little thing is annoying and snarky!
Thanks girl!
As another comment below stated: "you do you". European countries don't have a stigma about wine/alcohol and they still (*gasp*) eat bread and have skinny people!! (military person here). We all have various physical makeups so do what's best for you! Judgment is NOT the way. Thanks for welcoming us in with your vids.
Love this and totally agree!
My Italian parents said it wasn't unusual to dip french bread into wine. Once in awhile, I dip day old garlic bread into cafe latte. ❤
Katie! Do not defend yourself to these ppl criticizing your ‘diet’!! I enjoy you and your family so much!! Cheers 🥂
To save $ get the big bag of garlic from costco and freeze it. Peel it and chop it and leave some whole. I store mine in chinese soup takeout containers. Ready to go any time!
What’s good for some may not be good for others. If you’re getting negative comments, they belong in the trash! You do what’s best for YOU and YOUR family!
Red wine is very healthy! Mental health is important too and a lovely glass of delicious red wine is the perfect pairing with a healthy, wholesome meal.
Couldn’t agree more!
I love your balanced approach to eating, alcohol, etc. Enjoy your life! ❤
Have you tried the frozen spicy Mexican style riced cauliflower mix? It's not organic, but there are ZERO junk ingredients. I just tried it, and it's so good!
Yes I have. It’s really good.
It is SO good. But shockingly spicy
The reason jams and jellies have sugar as a main ingredient is because the sugar is what helps the pectin to set up. It is the main star in preserving your preserves. :) I always view jams as a sweet addition and don’t fret too much about the sugar because most kids don’t eat an over abundance of jelly. You’re doing a great job making healthy swaps! And it sounds like you’ve got some great recipes that you’ve been making. I need to hop over to your IG stories and get some more inspiration. Thanks for sharing your haul!
Enjoy life 🥂 I agree !
Katie, 100% love your attitude about your lifestyle changes. Moderation is KING (or Queen) and it has to be sustainable! Keep it up! You go girl!
Was so excited to get 2 videos today!!
I’m glad to hear that you guys are trying to eat healthy foods and are doing things in moderation. Like you, I feel that going too extreme when it comes to eating right can deter people from wanting to be healthier. Good for you guys! As you said, baby steps are just fine!
Katie please don’t give the trolls any of your time or energy. And definitely don’t give them the attention they seek.
Sometimes it’s nice to just say something back. 99% of the time I don’t engage. Letting people bully others online can really ware at you, ya know. I said my peace and I’m happier for it 😀
The sprinkles tomatoes look like they are worth gowing. Sprout some seeds on a paper towel.
I love the spicy mango lemonade
Really enjoy your videos, Katie. Sorry that you need to justify your choices on social media. You keep doing your thing and don’t worry about the naysayers and judgmental people. People like that have issues and rag on others to feel superior.
Thank you Katie! Just wanted you to know I really enjoy and appreciate your content. The fact that people judge and insert themselves in your personal life is ridiculous. Just keep doing your thing because we appreciate you and your efforts and there is no judgements here girl !
Thanks, Katie. I love your Trader Joe's hauls. It's nice to hear what you're making with some of the items.
I wish you could film some recipes for RUclips, not into trying to watch cooking on instagram stories personally. 😊
The heavenly Marzano tomatoes are my favorite ❤️! The are very delicious 😊
Agreed!
Fun video! Please keep us posted on your Strawberry tomatoes seedlings! I love to save my vegetable seeds for planting!!
I'm gonna go shopping at Trader Joe's this Sunday so this came just in time! Thank You!
Great haul Katie! Lots of goodness in this one.❤
This is a great hall. Red wine is actually very good for the heart. I do prefer white or rosé, but I have to get more into the red wine because that is actually the healthier wine to drink.
I like the label on the bottle of Magnifisauce, it is like a graphic novel
Can you record the soup when you make?
That wld be great I love soup¡!❤
Thank u. Enjoy
I know this is a TJs video, but next week is German week at Aldi, fyi :)
Oh my goodness how exciting. You know I’ll be shopping there. Thanks for the heads up!
My family is from Germany and I always look forward to German week at Aldi. Yay
Great haul! Do you have all of the tips for cooking rice in one spot or do I need to go back to an older video? Also, do you have a specific recipe when using the spicy mango lemonade when making margaritas?
I’m obsessed with artichokes- I hope they get the purple ones in here in OR! Glad your doing better health wise, Katie. Great haul as always.
Thank you!
Omg I had the pulled pork version, not the chicken. Soooo gud!
Thought I'd drop a comment on how to pronounce "jumeokbap"! You'd break it down as "ju-meok-bap". "Ju" is pronounced like you would pronounce the "Ju" in "June". "Meok" is pronounced like "muck". "Bap" is pronounced similar to how you'd pronounce the "bab" in "babka" except ending in a silent p. Hope that makes sense. FYI, "Ju-meok" means "fist" and "bap" means "rice". I'm not sure if the "fist" part is referring to the size of the rice ball or if it's more about shaping it by making a fist though.
I so hope our TJ's starts carrying the organic Jasmine Rice!!!
I love leeks in soup!
Woohoo! Tgif and TJ vlogs!
Love your hauls. Broccoli and cauliflower have a natural ingredient that repels insects so pesticides are not usually used on them so I don’t buy the organic ones.
Taco Gouda cheese looks so good. Glad to see TJ’S has started to bring in new items. The recipes on Instagram I have in my to try list. The stuffed zucchini I loved. I try to eat as healthy as I possible can. I want to try to make sourdough bread just for fun. Sometimes people enjoy being rude, it’s too bad that criticizing makes them feel better. 😊
Love the rice ball. I ran out yesterday after I saw it online. Yum! BTW Katie I haven’t forgotten about getting you the red lentil soup recipe!
Ok here it is Vegetarian Mulligatwany Soup. 3 tablespoons olive oil, four garlic cloves minced, one large onion diced, 2 sticks of celery diced, 4 carrots, peeled and sliced, 1 pound of dried red lentils, 16 ounces canned whole tomatoes cut into pieces, 1 can chickpeas, rinsed and drained, 8 cups of vegetable stock, 2 cups of tomato juice, 3 teaspoons curry powder, 3 teaspoons ground cumin, 2 teaspoons ground coriander, a half a teaspoon of cayenne pepper or more to taste, 1 can of coconut milk, 2 tablespoons of honey, one and a half cups of cooked basmati rice and chopped cilantro for garnish. In a stock pot add the oil, garlic, onion, celery, and carrots, and sauté till everything starts to get soft, add everything else except the coconut milk, honey, rice, cilantro, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, cover and simmer for 40 to 45 minutes. Stir in the coconut milk, the honey, the rice and season to taste, heat till everything is to the temp you like it. Garnish with chopped cilantro
That jumeokbap looks so good. I can't wait for the taste test.
Definately keep mint in a pot.
Those margaritas were way too sweet. I liked it better when they sold the Cutwater lime margaritas.
Maintaining a balanced diet is key to sustainability and a healthy food relationship. ~ signed an RD. You are on the right track!
Make your own beer and wine!
Tim is going to turn into a shrimp 😊
😂😂😂 He might
You are doing great. Will look for your recipes. Has Tim found a new job?
Yes, we announced it in last weeks taste test.
@@KatieHespe Sorry I missed that. Congratulations. (I have been looking for work for over a year.)
Dare I say the jumeokbap is better than the Kimbap-it’s so good!!
So glad you are eating more organic and adding it to what you buy weekly. And, that you are eating healthier .
Thank you! We always ate organic mostly, but adding so many more veggies and fruits feels so good for our bodies ❤️❤️
What is the tips that you got on the rice
Tfs Katie❤
Excited to see what you do with the cabbage, cucumber and carrots! I have all of that and love new recipes! ❤ thank-you! I'll keep in eye out on IG!
Whatever you did in this video for audio the volume was WAY better than all the others 👍🏻 for some reason, all the other videos I have to turn up so loud compared to all other channels. I hope that’s helpful feedback!
Nothing has changed on our end for the audio. It’s a select amount of people that watch that have the issue on certain devices. Did you happen to watch on a different device than you usually do? I’m so happy the sound was better for you though! Yay!
I bought those strawberry tomatoes, a couple of weeks ago. OMG.. Those were the tastiest tomatoes I’ve had in ages and unfortunately, I can’t find them anymore!! 😕
But my absolute favorite little tomatoes at Trader Joe’s are the San Mazrano’s!!
Hi Katie, I must get the artichokes. I love artichokes so much! I dip them in melted butter. How do you serve them? Do you use plant butter or do you stuff them?
I just posted my recipe on my IG. Made them last night.
@@KatieHespe Thank you!!
I just returned from a two month vacation in Southeast Asia and those rice balls look good! I'm already a lot of the great food and made a pot of pho!
How amazing! Best that was an amazing vacation with tons of delicious foods.
@@KatieHespe it sure was but I got tired of rice and noodles every day but suddenly I'm missing it! 😆
Hi Katie. I have a question. I bought the chicken chile verde enchiladas from TJs today. Is it ok to freeze them and if so what would be the best way?
Yes I think they freeze really well. I would just keep them in the original packaging and freeze as is.
@@KatieHespe thank you so much!
The shrimp and scampi looked tempting until I saw the incredibly long list of ingredients!
You keep doing you!!! That’s why we follow you!! I guess if I say I’m getting back to nature I will need to chop down trees and build my own house 😂. People are so judgmental!!! Me I have given up meat and only do fish since 2014. It took me a while but I have made that a permanent change. My cancer surgeon was a Vegetarian and was very supportive. Small changes will get you where you want to be.
Is Magnifisauce like mayo and ketchup mixed together?
I've never had it!
It’s similar to thousand island dressing or the sandwich spread in a jar.
Like thousands of island but with chunkier pickle pieces. That’s why I love it. Give me all the pickles lol.
Why are people not also growing their own oats???😅
Huh, interesting!
I meant that rice thing!
Do what u can to become healthier. Everything in moderation. Sooo no supersize fries, sodas and burgers!

Hello Hello
Hi 👋
Let us know if the Jumeokbap is spicy😊
$12.49 for a block of cheese? Prices are up everywhere!
I hate to say it, but the halls are kind of boring since it’s mainly just produce. I love you guys, but it’s hard to listen to just a list of vegetables.
I have to agree with you lol. People used to roast me saying how unhealthy we were because I was just showing new items and fun things at TJ’s. Now that it’s mainly veggies it’s boring. I will always show the new items though and I’ve been making some really fun recipes on my IG. I’m sorry 😞
You are starting to sound very angry and defensive.
Or maybe she is just over the keyboard warriors who say things they would never say to a persons face 😏
If my one small comment, defending myself, after hearing from internet trolls for 6 years is defensive to you then so be it. I hope you don’t let people walk all over you and treat you badly.
Someone gave you permission to judge? You are the reason why she made that comment so congrats.
Angry? I think Katie was far more diplomatic than most people would be when they're attacked about choices they make.
😅😅😂😂😂 go to bed!!!
I am watching your recipes on Instagram thanks so much
