Just found this video dedicated to my home town. Thank you so much. Bergamo for us is not just a town, is a piece of heart and a way of living. There's a lot of history to be known and a couple of things this video couldn't show.
This brought tears to my eyes, I love my city, I think we don't appreciate it enough here because we've grown up in it, it was amazing seeing it from another perspective, the walls in città alta and the view are stunning and romantic, had a few unforgettable moments there

My sister moved to Bergamo in 2012 to be with her husband who is from the city. It has been lovely to see the city gradually become more popular as it really is special. I feel very lucky to have it as my second/adopted home

I visited Bergamo many years ago and loved it. As i was wandering around I heard the most beautiful music from a church (Santa Maria, next to the cathedral?). I ventured in and discovered a group of singers practising for an evening performance. They allowed me to stay a while as I had to get back to Milan before evening. It turned out to be the Missa Sopra La Monica by Frescobaldi which I purchased as soon as I got home to relive a magical experience.

@@educationforblind6362 I'm from the UK. I was staying with an Italian/English friend in Milan at the time. During his weekend he got friends to drive us to Piacenza, Como, and the Visconti palace, all great places to visit. It's because of visits like those that I decided to read Manzoni's "The Betrothed" which a key book in Italian culture and I would thoroughly recommend if you haven't read it.

I live in Bergamo since i was born and youtube popped up this video randomly. I really enjoyed your point of view. You had a chance to see Bergamo in the best season in my opinion and you spotted some of my favourite place in my town. I don't like polenta e osei too( the little cake )! hahahahaha
You are not alone. I am also from Bergamo and don't like polenta e osei. It is sold as a traditional cake, but it is something for tourists, it tastes nothing like a tradition from Bergamo. Our food tradition is made of simple ingredients and easy preparations, while this is a very sophisticated cake. It does not represent us. Better have some stracciatella as a dessert.

Sure I love my town,we have “Città Alta” and also the whole town is nice,we don’t have only church and story we have a lot of beautiful places in our mountains,Valbrembaba or Valseriana a magnificent places crossed from beautiful rivers surrounded by the Mother Nature, also Endine Lake and Iseo Lake are awesome places for who likes the nature...and we have in my opinion a great tradition for food, for who visit Bergamo have to try “Casoncelli” a special ravioli whit a typical inimitable flavor, another is “polenta con coniglio or some Arrosro/Brasato etc” served with Porcini Mushroom...anyway congrats for the video,is nice to see people around the world that enjoy my hometown, greetings from Bergamo 👋🏻

This is my kinda place. Lowkey and laid back… just like pockets of Hawaii. I have to go here. Is it expensive for 2-3 days just here? New subscriber too now haha love this .😍
It’s very affordable! I had a great little B&B on this trip that cost $45 usd a night and included a great breakfast. Food can be as cheap or expensive as you want. Pizzas for €5 or meals for €10-15 at restaurants.
@@laura-bronner if you can give any tips on who I should book through; that would be appreciated. Expedia doesn’t seem like it for this assignment 😂. Thanks
Consider spending a few more days in the area. The Bergamo province is very good. If you are a believer or just out of curiosity, 20 km away from Bergamo you can also find Sotto il Monte, the little village where Pope John XXIII, "the Good Pope", was born. In the opposite direction, 36 km away from the city, you can reach Iseo Lake and take a ferry to Monte Isola, the largest lake island in Italy, actually in the Brescia province. Taking a bus (about 1h trip) you may reach Clusone, a wonderful artistic city in the mountains hence you can also go for a walk in the nature.

Bergamo, Brescia, Mantova, Como, Varese, Vigevano, Pavia, Lodi, Cremona, Novara, Piacenza... etc. The list could go on, but basically all small to medium sized historic towns of Italy are its best kept secret ;)
unfortunately Bergamo is little known and advertised, it is a small hidden but very beautiful city. The next time you come back I suggest you eat at the "circolino" in città alta! ♡
It’s so much busier than it used to be. Up until about 5 or 6 years ago, Bergamo was so quiet. There were virtually no visitors. It has changed quite a bit & become pretty touristy of late. It’s lovely for the city that it is getting the notoriety it deserves.

What a truly special place Bergamo is. I had the great fortune of visiting this beautiful city last May. Unfortunately did not spend enough time there. I plan to visit again (longer this time) in the late Fall. Very nice video. I am curious Laura as to what time of year you visited. Thank you. 🙂
What a beautiful place. I´ll be visiting Bergamo in 2025, september and looking forward to visiting some beatiful places and eating good food. Will be my first time in Italy :)

Hey, I am visiting my cousin in Madrid at the end of May. We are doing a weekend trip to Italy and flying to BGY. We were planning to go to Milan and see Lake Como the other day. Is it worth considering staying here instead of Milan? I imagine prices may be better here than in Milan. Could we get to Lake Como easily from here as well. Also, is there good public transportation from here to Milan and to a Lake Como village.

Just found this video dedicated to my home town. Thank you so much. Bergamo for us is not just a town, is a piece of heart and a way of living. There's a lot of history to be known and a couple of things this video couldn't show.
My daughter and I are visiting in September!
Can’t wait to see your lovely city!

Laura, next time you hly to Bg get yourself a smal trip to San Pellegrino Terme, the small village in Valle Brembana, where the mineral water comes from! You will love it! Promised!
That sounds wonderful, I’ll add it to my list!
@@laura-bronner Also add Sotto il Monte (where "Good Pope" John XXIII was born), Clusone (a 8000-people ancient village in the mountains, with a lot of art in it) and Iseo Lake, with many wonderful locations on both the Bergamo and Brescia sides (including Monte Isola).

Fantastic video! Thank you! 🧡 Where did you have the 5€ pizza at? 😃
Thanks
@@laura-bronner I’m going there!
