Need to build a bunkhouse at the Blaine House. That’s where the problems start, and never get solved. I suggest every state representative take one home, and build them a mini house on their property. They can house and feed them. Or, the protesters can take one home. Like adopting a rescue from the pound.

It was reported to me that Mayor Dion had promised that there would be no more sweeps until April. I understand that this was the consensus by Portland City Hall, but had been changed by former Mayor Snyder. .But suddenly Mayor Dion decided that they had to do it anyway after he had promised it wasn't going to happen. I understand that some of the homeless people confronted a city worker about the issue of the beatings and rapes in the new shelter, and she said she couldn't talk about it. She said this after she said she didn't understand why they were not wanting to go to the new shelter. So the City of Portland is forcing the campers to a place where they are in danger of beatings and rapes and murder, and the city is ignoring all of the complaints. It has been reported that Mayor Dion threatened one of the campers to kill him if he argued with him about this decision. I heard also that the Portland Police didn't want to do the sweep but were terrorized at the last minute and went ahead and did it.

Clear them out without replacing with an alternative? While illegal migrants are gifted ? Freely State corporations have received; freely give. Plenty of property on which to set up a State write off "Tent City" with security?? Matthew 7:12 wouldn't they want to have us, do something in the way of housing ? So they should do likewise to others. Love is so easy. But we have to "want to " love. God may your Kingdom Come soon please - Matthew 6:9,10/ Luke 13:28,29

To the homeless: you are stuck in victimhood. Do not allow this to run your life. You are not to remain a victim of circumstances. You can empower yourself every day through each and every choice you make. Many of you appear to be fully capable of working. Yet you choose not to. You won’t even accept a handout for a shelter. It’s because you want to remain a victim. It’s because you’re stuck in that mindset. You think that’s the only thing you have control over if you have your little tent. Isolating yourself and engaging in self pity is keeping you down. You have no connection to the strength inside of you. You’re always looking outside of yourself and blaming someone else for keeping you in a state of victimhood, due to your circumstances. You are not a victim.
Living in service to others, will give you purpose. Begging for everything from others will take away your purpose, making you weak. You will isolate further and further due to your seemingly inexplicable shame.
To the enablers: shame on you for keeping people down in the gutter! Shame on you for feeding into their illness of the mind! Your mind is ill too. Shame on you for thwarting the actions of those who wish to truly help the homeless.
For each of these reports from news on homelessness let’s see a report for successful transition and recovery from homelessness.
Let’s all try to empower the homeless. And remember that MANY want to live that way.
Success in ending homelessness in Finland: There were 18,000 people experiencing homelessness in Finland when the country first launched its effort to tackle the issue back in 1987. At the end of 2022, the figure had dropped to 3,686 in the country of 5.5 million, though only 492 spent the night outside.

Just a reminder that steps and support had to be taken for the homelessness crisis to be tackled in Finland. I'll direct you to a wonderful article I found on the subject:
      www.huduser.gov/portal/pdredge/pdr-edge-international-philanthropic071123.html#:~:text=As%20part%20of%20Finland's%20commitment,global%20leader%20in%20combating%20homelessness.
You seem very passionate about this issue, and I encourage you to channel that passion into change. Advocate for housing initiatives, attend council meetings, and volunteer at supportive organizations connecting jobs with unhoused folks.
I would love to see you empower the unhoused.

    • @Ricky-mo6mv
      @Ricky-mo6mv 4 месяца назад

I can appreciate your underlying message there, and much of that is true. However, many of these people truly don’t have the skills to successfully transition to a job. But let’s just say they did get hired somewhere which would likely be at minimum wage. They still wouldn’t be able to get their own place.
For one, there are no places
For two, they certainly wouldn’t be able to come even close to affording it
So maybe they get 2 minimum wage jobs? That’s hard on healthy people in the normal sleeping and eating conditions that we are fortunate enough to enjoy.
So let’s say they figure that out and miraculously find a place with their 2 jobs. Do they just pay for their rent, what if they also want to eat? If you work, you can’t get state assistance…so what about utilities? Transportation?
We live in an era of complete corruption, and even the middle class has to choose between paying their utilities and buying food.
Sorry, but none of the above is going to happen for these folks-because it now is literally impossible. The only way these people can get on a different path is if a family member or close friend helps them out significantly. And, they have to really want to do it for themselves as you mentioned.
