- Bike touring through Iran was a controversial decision, but the country or rather the people continue to surprise us. Despite difficult weather conditions we feel extremely welcome. Camping in the wild turns out to be a challenge, but not in the way one would think. In this episode we continue our Amazing World Bike Tour from Tabriz in the Eastern Azerbaijan province all the way to Saqqez in Iranian Kurdistan, where we get an unlikely invitation.

Every time that I watch your videos and see people embrace you with smiles and hospitality, I am reminded how much good there still is in the world regardless of location.
Absolutely! It's the same for us. Despite all the problems we see, we believe the vast majority of people are truly kind and good in their hearts.
Of course we are heartland of the world, we know how to communicate the best@@AmazingWorldBikeTour
ایران بهترین مردم های دنیا رو داره تمام ایران زیباست مردم ایران عشق هستن ❤❤❤❤
Thank you, Iran looks like it is full of wonderful people.
It is indeed! We’re in love with the Iranians met 🫶🏼
Another amazing episode from the both of you!
I thought of you today and here it was, the latest installment!!
Love the Jumanji reference!!
I deeply appreciate how detailed and full of fun anecdotes your videos are. Thank you for sharing your adventures :)
I cannot wait to go on my own long cycling adventure and visit Iran, every single video I see about Iran tells the same story about how awesome it's inhabitants are. I would love to live it myself.
Once again a thousand thanks for all your hard work and your beautiful film 😊
Dear Ashley, thanks. It means a lot to us, that the little details get appreciated. It is not easy to capture those moments on camera, but they really are the essence of our journey. You're gonna love the next episode ;-)
We hope you experience something like it yourself not too far in the future. Many situations will remind you of our journey, however, everyone has a very unique experience, as we are all unique.
If you should go solo, be aware that this changes a lot, in every country.
Thank you guys. Iran has a lot of verities. Every part of the country is amazing and diverse. Iranians are kind, hospitable and patriotic regardless of their ethnicity and political & religious beliefs ❤
That is indeed the impression we got!
Aww what a beautiful interaction , with the old gentleman you shared the tea with. Just beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing 😊
Yes. Definitely one of the moments we won't forget!
I would rather go to Iran than America
America is big :) we would love to visit South America one day.
I rather go to Iran from America where I am. Tiered of suburbs, corrupted Gov.,bad rude no manners, disrespectful young people and major crimes. I did live little bit of my American dream now getting ready to restart or continue it in Europe,Brazil and Iran.
Penny and I absolutely loved this episode. Fantastic job (as usual) Arev and Mathias!
You're too kind! Thanks for your ongoing support!
That was AMAZING for me to see my hometown Miandoab from thousands of miles away in Amsterdam. Hope you had a great time there. Enjoy the rest of your journey in Iran
You guys are amazing!
I am an Iranian and really enjoyed your video from Iran. Thank you!
Thank you so much. We got the impression that most Iranians are pretty amazing people as well ;-)
Iran! Wow, I never thought anyone would ever dare set foot in there. And this is an "amazing bike tour."
It certainly blew our minds 😀
Great to see you interacting with normal people in Iran. And how welcoming they are to you both - just goes to show, we're all proud of our home areas and appreciate welcoming visitors.
Absolutely. However, most Iranians are next level 😅
This is the best episode so far . Loved it soooooo much. well done guys. enjoy.
Thank you for letting us know!
Never have i seen such a contrast between a government and the people who live there. Ik makes me hopefull and positive for the future generations ♥️ Thanks again for sharing your extraordinary adventures over here. And I will add it once more… Stay healthy and stay safe!🙏🏼
Thank you Don!
Yes, Iran we definitely learned to differentiate. We could write a book about it!
As an Iranian, that kissing was so unnecessary and rude! It's not part of our culture to kiss a stranger lady. That man passed all boundaries.
Guys, we also have chai!
We believe you 🥰
Brilliant, just brilliant, guys!
Glad you liked it!
Thank you for sharing. I love following your adventures. I hope to cycle through Iran one day and experience the culture and wonderful people.
It is probably clear by now, but we highly recommend traveling Iran. Hopefully one day everyone can do it!
lol old iranians struggle to greet everyone by kissing! :)) it gets worse in Nowruz when we see each other for first time in year!
We can imagine 🤣 It is similar in Armenia!

Ryan van Duzer calls this 'Trail Magic' - meeting people and experiencing spontaneous things! Paul
That's a way to put it. We've got plenty of magic and plenty of trail.
You've had a good run. The next episode is almost ready. Release is in one week, and this is a very special one 🤯😉
I really look forward to your videos. You really tell us about the countries you visit as you meet such interesting people. Oh, and you look so much younger these days.
Thanks. The next episode is "just" 3 weeks away ;-)
We get a lot of fresh air, sun and workout, so we can recommend cycling!
The Jumanji bit was the most German joke I've heard in a while haha hope you two have a fantastic adventure in Iran!
Well spotted. Mathias wrote that joke 😉
Iran is an incredible country, especially for bike touring!
Love all the beautiful interactions with so many people!
Among the most beautiful things about Iran for us too!
Another excellent installment.
Thanks for spending the time to talk about multiethnic Iran! It was great to learn a little more about Kurdish language and culture too.
What an amazing tour ;)
Thanks Nigel! We'll tell a bit more about Kurdish culture in the coming two episodes ;-)
I am so happy to see how well your journey to Iran is going. Million thanks for sharing your journey with us. I can't wait for your next video, I became addicted .
Thanks! ☺️ We bet you’ll have fun watching the next one 😅
haha kissing on the cheek is a common greeting in iran
Iran calendar the most accurate.
We didn't even know that. Thanks!
Less than 1 second per year is really impressive 👏
Just fabulous! Thank you for sharing your journey ❤
Glad you enjoy it!
Wow! What an amazing experience. Loving your videos.
Thanks so much! We wished everyone could do something similar. It certainly changed our world.
دوست دارم برم ایران دوچرخه سواری کنم..
I would like to go for a bike ride in Iran..
Where are you from?
@@AmazingWorldBikeTour Sri Lanka
We hope you can manage to cycle in this wonderful country one day! :)
Hi from Shiraz❤❤
Come to perspolic
(most of iranian are not muslem but we have to be cause our government)
Hi! Of course we visited Shiraz and Persepolis, and we loved it.
It was also our impression that a large part of the population does not agree with religion being forced on them.
This is absolutely amazing!
It was! 😉
really nice!
Glad you think so! 🫶🏼
Wow. Fantastic. Safe trip guys. Jay
Thank you Jay! So far so good 😉
Very well fun video 😁
Thanks. We've had a great time!

اواخر بهار و تابستان فصل مناسبى براى سفر به ایران نیست، بهتر زماندسفر به ایران اول بهار و اول پاییز هست.
امید وارم سفر تان لذت برده باشد😊
Absolutely! Our initial plan was indeed to enter Iran in autumn 2022, which had been perfect for our route.
However, because of the tense situation during the protests we delayed. We speak about that in detail in our last episode about our time in Armenia.
are'nt they the nicest people ever !!
Absolutely!
So happy to see you in Iran ❤
How long you are going to stay??
Thanks! We cycled through Iran for almost 3 months but left the country already.

Why did you allow Rustam to kiss you 3 times😅😂 Rustam was a crippy part of this video!
Well, why not? It is a normal thing to do in many regions of the world, including where we are from. He is a very kind old man, and he kissed both our cheeks when saying goodbye. It did not feel creepy for us at all.
In Iranian culture, it is not very strange - kissing is a sign of happiness😉
In our culture an old man kissing chicks of a young woman for greeting is normal
Ok. I'm Iranian but kissing a stranger woman is not our costume. Only close female relatives is ok.
بیا نیمه پر لیوان ببینیم بگیم پیرمرده خیلی مربون بوده😂
You lost me when you associated Persian hospitality with Islam and prophet Mohammad’s teachings
to correct you there are over 22 million kurds in rojhalat iran and they are second largest population and everything else you heard is fake to undervalue kurds
Do you assume a Kurdish organization is underrepresenting the number of Kurdish people in Iran?
They say 8-10 million: www.kurdishinstitute.be/en/who-are-the-kurds/rojhelat/
Some other estimates go as far as 12, which is less than the Turkic population of Iran. In any case, we did not intend to suggest that Kurds are not important.
Dont mean its your fault and i know you just go after what they say, but the organization you talk about works for ayatollahs and its fake, the german knows best their population just like kurd do and in iran it history change to undervalue the kurd , 8 to 10 million was for 40 year ago, very strange that the populations is same and the rest of worlds population increase, its 81.5 million kurd in kurdistan today, keep post videos we like it very much thanks, good luck be careful
I live in Iran, and the statistics you mentioned are part of the problem we face here. Unfortunately, European countries and human rights organizations, by collaborating with Kurdish terrorist groups, are spreading these misconceptions and inaccurate historical information. For instance, you mentioned that Kurds number 22 million, while some sources claim 40 million. These claims go further, even suggesting that the Sumerians, Prophet Muhammad, and the Gutians were Kurds, which is inaccurate information.
In Iran, ethnic extremism and nationalism, or ethnic fascism, have been instigated by Turks, Kurds, Arabs, and Baluchis, who provide false statistics and historical misinformation. For example, Kurds never mention that in the 1980s, in the Qarana area near the city of Naqadeh, 800,000 people were killed by these ethnic terrorist parties, which today are supported by Europe and human rights organizations. They also do not tell you that Kurds beheaded thousands of Iranian soldiers alive during the Iran-Iraq war. However, their leaders and supporters come to Europe, playing the victim and seeking the support of human rights organizations, trying to threaten the territorial integrity of Iran.
When you said "Rojava," this is an insult to the Iranian nation and country. You are using a term that is against international laws, but because of the victim-playing and lies told to human rights organizations by the Kurds and their terrorist parties, people are unaware. The Kurds number between 8 to 10 million, and they are not only in Kurdistan. Not all of them support the terrorist beliefs of Komala, the Democratic Party, and PJAK. Kurds in Ilam, Kermanshah, and Khorasan oppose these parties.
@@hoomanpersian Yes there's a history of this and it's all a result of foreign intervention. Even before the modern era, self serving Kurdish chieftains would ally with the Ottomans and help to loot and massacre Christian Assyrians and Armenians as well as terrorize the Kurdish population as well. I assure you the person who commented the lie about there being 22 million Kurds is not Iranian. They're most likely from Eastern Turkey.
@@hoomanpersian It is estimated that there are over 22 million Kurds in Rojhelat, which is Iranian Kurdistan. The total number of Kurds is estimated to be around 81.5 million, far surpassing the 38 million Persians. Your statements are spreading lies and ayatollah propaganda. The real terrorists are the oppressive regime of Iran. Kurds in Iran are denied even the basic right to use Kurdish names, yet you dare to label us as terrorists? The 8-10 million figure you cite has been used since the 1980s. Are you suggesting that the Kurdish population has not grown at all, unlike the rest of the world? Your claims are not only baseless but also serve as a mouthpiece for the ayatollah's regime.
I really dislike when you say that the Iranian leaders decided to shift back to the 15th century. Islam is even the fastest religion growing in the west and Europe and Islamic lifestyle is getting more fans fay by day, as it’s healthier and more natural than the western lifestyle.
Iranians decided to establish a religious government and this must be respected, as you can see Iran is a modern and developed country so nothing like 15th century i hope its clear?
It is exactly what happened. They in fact changed the year of the calendar back to the 15th century. Islam might very well be the fastest growing religion right now. However, how that is of relevance to us or to anything is not clear to us, as well as your claim about a healthy lifestyle.
We believe people should be free to choose what they think is good for them, without interfering with the life of people who choose differently.
The current form of Irans government was created almost 45 years ago, when two thirds of the current population was not even born yet. The current supreme leader was appointed by tiny group of people 35 years ago. If you are concerned about a lack of respect, this is where some people might see an issue.
We hope that helped to clear things up ;-)
Why didn't you guys visit tehran???🥲
We did, but after Kurdistan. The upcoming episode will cover Hamadan, Saveh, Tehran, Qom, Kashan ;-)
