Ok Mustache...I have been tying for 25 years now and I have learned a lot over the years but I have never seen this method by combining the schlappen with the flash. This technique I have never seen before. It is basically making a dubbing rope. Really nice and I just learned something new. Great jig and fantastic method. This might be a good trout jig but I guarantee smallmouth will eat this thing up. You need to start tying silicone bass jigs. With your skill, I can only imagine what you would come up with. Great job Mustache and one of my favorite if not my favorite. Outstanding.

Dude that thing looks awesome, wish you threw in some underwater footage. But I'm diggin' it. I've never tied a fly before and I'm gonna order some stuff online, definitely adding the things needed for this.
I'm fishing for bass and using casting and spinning gear, any tips/advice for patterns etc?
Any cheaper alternative materials you recommend?

I do most of my fishing on spinning and casting gear as well. These fish well that way, but you could go heavier if you prefer. I like craw patterns and Ned-style patterns for bass too. Check out my craw jig video if you haven’t. As for cheaper alternatives, I haven’t really ventured into that area.
