    Get a spark plug socket with a hex head and put a wrench on it to loosen, way easier than messing with header and gaskets

  • @dalejohnson3520
    @dalejohnson3520 Год назад +2

    When you have a close fit between the exhaust and the plug you can use a tubing wrench to lossen and tighten the spark plug.
    You are missing the wire hold down that goes on the distributor.

    The spark plug wires are backwards! The pre installed boot goes to the spark plug.

    I use an offset box end wrench same plug location.

    Invest in a 5/8" pass through socket you'll never have to remove a header again.

    Your videos are very helpful. I have a 1989 suburban with 350 and I got a lot of great info from you...friendly tip, turn down the music and turn your voice up. You're soft spoken and the music blasts inbetween you talking...aside from that your videos are easy to follow and I get great value out of what you're teaching. liked and subscribed!

    Where were the AC spark plugs made? I ordered a set of AC R43 plugs from Summit and they were marked "Made in China." There is no way I am going to install Chinese plugs into my classic 1970 Corvette, so I returned them to Summit and went to an O'Reilly's and bought some NGKs. They work great and NGKs are all I use in my classic cars.

    Firing order for LHD vehicles not right for Australia or right hand drive country’s

    • @WrenchAtHome
      @WrenchAtHome  3 года назад +2

      Thanks for the info! The firing order I mentioned is for (most) regular old Chevy small blocks. You should always check the firing order of your own engine before attempting anything like this.

      That's called a tube grill. Mine is a phantom grill on my 82. It covers the headlights as well

      Thank you! Actually, I am from the Netherlands (Europe)! But it rains a lot over here as well lol, and lots of salt on the roads in the winter. I’ll take you not noticing my Dutch accent as a compliment! :D

    iam guessing as you installed the wires 180° off but it runs

    • @WrenchAtHome
      @WrenchAtHome  3 года назад

      You can see later on in the video she started right up! My distributor is rotated a bit, but my wires are not 180 degrees off, more like 10 or 20. Plug wire 1 should ‘point’ to spark plug 1, mine is pointed more to plug 3 or 5. I didn’t touch the distributor yet because the engine already ran great, so I just hooked the wires back up in the same position they were in. Distributor was already like this when I bought the truck. I will pull the distributor and retime the engine sometime in the future and put it all back in straight, but for now she runs just fine! Thank you for watching!

      Every little bit counts, and I like the look! If I really want peak power I should rebuild the old block and replace the 3-speed auto gearbox, but that's not really the direction I wan't to go with this truck right now. Thank you for watching!
