Well, the reason that the best phantoms aren’t from the US is, when those upgrades were sold to be retrofitted to foreign phantoms, the US was balls deep in 4th gen fighter territory, in fact often using 4th gen tech and applying it as a phantom upgrade package (hence the already famous „this phantom has an F-16 radar” phrase). Still, in the future, there are better phantoms to come… like the german F-4F KWS, which carried AMRAAMs, and actually scored a simulated kill on multiple rafales in training
The u.s phantom was still used even in the 80s and was still upgraded even then with the dmas upgrade, the u.s phantom had everything the kurnass 2k has and even the kurnass 2k never used sparrows. The phantom scored a lot of kills against f15s and f16s in dogfight training and simulated scenarios
Except here’s something really funny, the US Marine corps used the F-4E and F-4S until the early 90s, both were equipped with Aim-9L/M, the F-4E was limited to the Aim-7F, but the F-4S could carry the 7F and the 7M. I can understand that Gaijin doesn’t want to give a rank 7 premium, rank 8 capabilities. But there is no legitimate excuse for the F-4E not receiving the Aim-9L and the Aim-7F. The F-4E would likely only go up to 11.3, that’s not impossible to win a dogfight. They could also add an early variant of the F-4E (one without agile eagle).

The F-4E was manumfactured all the way from the 70s to basically the end of phantom production, being the "Main" phantom variant, and the base for all foreign upgrade packages. It is possible, that late block F-4E had AiM-9L, or that they had this capability retrofitted as part of some life extension programme. Still, the F-4E in game might just represent an earlier iteration of the impressively large F-4E family. Saying the F-4E has some capability is like saying the F-16C has some- some variant at some point likely did, but if production spans over literal decades, it is neither certain nor absolute that any given plane with that designation is the same thing
As an American main I completely understand this, but adding the F-4S as a premium is just insulting. Would've been so much more balanced in place of the F-14 and a meaningful upgrade from the F-4J.
The F4J when it came out in game had the leading edge wing slats, but the value was changed to like 10000 or something so they would never come out. IRL I believe only the F4S had the agile eagle package out of all USN Phantoms.

Not mentioned because it isn't really in your wheelhouse, but this plane also gets vastly superior air to ground armament than any US plane of comparable performance. AGM-65D mavericks (IR, usable at night) only found on the A-10 Late, and laser guided bombs only found on the premium A-6. Trying to use either of those planes in top tier ground RB is essentially suicidal, especially with the addition of the Pantsir.
It does make sense, when the Kurnass was in service, USA already moved on to more advanced vehicles which carried these armaments. We just haven’t gotten those super advanced planes yet.

I actually think flying this kind of jets are good training I fly a lot of EJ Kai and F-4J,and I notice since my airframe isn't that great,so I quickly learn how to pick fight,how to read the battlefield,how to pick out the easy kill etc When I fly F-14 or Migs I know my airframe can carry me out of trouble so I play a lot more careless, running head first in to battle and just start blasting
Well to be fair nations (Israel in particulal) have keep flying the older airframe long after the US has moved onto the next airframe this example being the F-15.
People seems to not realize that, why doesn’t US get an EJ Kai, F-104S ASA, etc, of their own, because they have F-16 and F-15. Us is rich, the can afford to completely replace their planes.

Just because good players get good matches in bad vehicles doesn't mean they are not significantly worse than the other vehicles you could be using at the same BR. Even if you are in a less capable plane if you use it better then you opponent in a more capable plane you can still get kills.
If you look closely, the slats on the F-4J do cover the entire wing area, since the wingtips also fold down. You can manually deactivate them unlike the Agile Eagle Phantoms, which can be helpful in certain situation. At high speed they should perform exactly the same, since the slats on the F-4S don’t deploy above a certain speed, because they would make the plane turn worse. The slats on the F-4J improve its maneuverability and make it pull noticeably more Gs and AoA below 1000km/h IAS. The F-4S might still pull a just little more but it’s not really that noteworthy. Maybe someone can actually thoroughly test the difference, since I could only check the maneuverability by comparing the G overload numbers of both aircraft, because I’m on console, so that’s a skill issue on my part. So if you have the F-4J you might want to just talisman that instead of getting the F-4S. For Sim players the F-4S does have a modernized cockpit so it might be worth it for some people.

In your upcoming mig-29 germany video, can you talk a bit about the Radar Mode (SRC PC/SRC PD HDN)? I am struggling to get locks often times on planes directly in front of me, close range and 30km+.
With the Gun pod or without the speed lose isn't high enough in my opinion to leave the pod off, after 6 missiles if you have no pod your returning to base and the Pod helps you more often than not. Just my opinion but we all have are own opinions and preferences, but great vid as always.
As far as Israel is concerned, last I checked their F-16 doesn't have access to AIM-7s at all so for them you're kinda stuck with the Kurnass if you want Fox-1s

man idk i go high alt in the f4j, in the gr2, always do well (2+ k/d usually), i find low alt gets you much more attention and you have to fight your teammates for kills. Maybe I'm just trash at low alt, I also am more of a DCS player so I like to play the radar dip in dip out game way more than this missile jousting trash gameplay.
I also prefer high altitude, though I am usually in the Harrier GR7. I tend to get to the battle after everyone has dropped altitude and can throw AMI-9s at them when they think they are safe.

man idk i go high alt in the f4j, in the gr2, always do well (2+ k/d usually), i find low alt gets you much more attention and you have to fight your teammates for kills. Maybe I'm just trash at low alt, I also am more of a DCS player so I like to play the radar dip in dip out game way more than this missile jousting trash gameplay.
I also prefer high altitude, though I am usually in the Harrier GR7. I tend to get to the battle after everyone has dropped altitude and can throw AMI-9s at them when they think they are safe.
@Commando Epsilon I've killed a lot of GR.7s and Mig23s with the phoneix because they thought they were hiding like yourself. F14 will always know we're you are :)
@@faq187tim9 Sounds like they have skill issues. I am much more worried about a Tomcat that stays high and tries to kill me with guns, all of their missiles are easily defeated if you know what you're doing.
@Commando Epsilon I think the aim54 was buffed. This past week, I'm at like a 70% hit chance with it. It's been really fun to snipe mig29s with that thing lol. With the trails now it's best not to climb if your not on the America team.
