This thing is perfect! The real Q siren is the way to go please get rid of the EQ in the trucks they sound horrible! Also the two lights on the rear that rotate are a great touch to staying old school rather than having flashing LED all over the place. I have a video of this TL responding; great design from PFD!
I wouldn’t say “more towers”. These are replacing existing apparatus, not increasing the number of platforms. Unless of course the current ladder towers get reassigned. As far as I know the snorkels are done. There is always the possibility they may be placed in reserve status but they’re pretty beat up.
Snorkel is actually a brand name that’s been used with many different manufacturers such as Pierce, Seagrave, Simon, PemFab American LaFrance etc. just about every manufacturer has offed apparatus with Snorkel platforms on them at some point in time. it’s an elevating platform, however the boom articulates in the center which allows for a different type of versatility than other platforms, mainly to reach over obstacles such as trees, wires, and parapet walls. They do not have a climbable ladder on them so members must enter and exit the basket while it’s on the ground. The device can be operated from the basket or a control panel on the tailboard of the apparatus. They don’t typically have the usual turn table with a pedestal like most aerials and tower ladders. If you search the web for snorkel fire apparatus you will find plenty of them.
Actually what PFD should do is to install electronic sirens to accompany the q siren. Most fire truck departments like Boston and LA are doing this. It preserves the lifespan of the q siren. PFD is one of only a handful that doesn’t do this. They should in my opinion.
The unit this rig will be replacing (Snorkel 2) has always had a real Q, as does the Squrt (Squrt 8) that is housed with it. Most of the engines in the city have mechanical Q's and more than 1/2 the ladders. All of the new pierce tillers have a real Q, most of the KME engines have real Qs, as do the new Spartan Rigs. Rescue 1, sadly, doesn't have a mechanical siren, nor does the current collapse unit and air unit.
Well I know that pierce and seagrave have the best options of stainless steel customized rigs and are the most expensive which is what leads departments that have money to prefer them
There’s not a mix of Pierce and Seagrave at all. The PFD hasn’t purchased Seagrave apparatus since the late ‘90s. The PFD fleet has consisted mainly of KME, and Alf/LTI and since the mid 2000’s the engine fleet has been Spartan.
Beautiful Tower Ladder truck 🙌
I seen the truck and immediately thought of New York
It does look like an FDNY Rig
When r they replacing the snorkel?
It's becouse its a Sea Grave Maurader

Great to see Philly going in the direction of using more Towers !!!

Thank You for the insight,/ info. Totally agree that the PFF's Snorkels have been worn hard .
@@ritirons2726 what do snorkels do? We don’t have any in my city.

A real q finally I look forward to hearing it in the city and not hearing a dying cow

@@crystallake6198 it sucks the rescue didn't get one EQ's just are so bad
I want that logo. Many years ago I remember seeing Ben Franklin on the side of the trucks of this station
Man what a monster!😎
Is it an Aerial Scope or an Erial Scope? Check the front jacks!
That looks awesome!
Are they getting the same Seagrave Tower ladder for Snorkel 28 ? Are they still keeping the Pierce Tiller Ladders and not being replaced by Spartan ?
There are Spartan TDAs in the works.
I’ve seen the spec. drawings of them.
Spartan tractors with LTC trailers.
@@ritirons2726 okay thanks for the update!
Ladder 2 is BACK
Seagraves back in Philly baby!
Why does philly have such a mix of pierce and seagraves? Why not choose one manufacturer?

I believe so, according to TSU officer that told me they are
It does cus its the same brand truck, but with different paint striping you can tell the difference.
Good no electronic q siren those are the worst
I was never a fan of the EQ siren either
@@Heyde1979 FDNY has The EQ and a Rumbler combo now
