Just a note, many old timers had a 'poverty pot'. It was a container that held the superfine gold , sulphides, tin, magnetite and other 'junk' that they couldn't reasonably process themselves. Many survived off the fractions of lower base metals they collected while hunting that "El Dorado" of gold.

I'm glad that you're going back to some of the basics and showing stuff showing step by step how to prospect. I miss the detecting and gold ore from from old deposits in mines. I was hoping that 1 day you will do a step to step. What to look for when you're looking for gold or deposits for either crushing or just using your gold detector. Kind of uninterrupted , step by step what you look at what you looking for In the same manner you did the stream work. I realize it starts with researching and looking for old mines And the history of the area prior to looking. But when you have so much erosion and new growth over a 150 plus years. Sometimes it's hard to know what you're looking at. It's just a thought, But I really like your thought process and your observations. And I am certain I can apply it anywhere you find gold. As usual really loved the way you went through this step by Step. It's a great feeling not having to travel to australia to look over your shoulder mate.😏

We went on a vacation that took us through gold mining areas. We panned here and there and “didn’t find” anything. I wish I had watched you panning. I thought that gold came in “picker” size. I didn’t know to look for flour or nano sizes. Next trip‼️

You’re logic and technique are spot on Chris, thank you. I’ve come across so many places that just have the feel. My biggest problem is that I’m never sure if I’m legally allowed to pan in those places. Getting any information on a certain area is the most frustrating part. I don’t do Facebook or any sort of social media stuff, cause I’m an troglodyte when it comes to that shit, so getting to know the local area is just me going for a walk in an area I think I’m allowed to go and then finding out it’s a reserve or some big mining company has annexed it years ago. Getting any real time info is like pulling teeth. Private land I get, that’s not an issue. Any chance you can do an episode on ways to research an area. Ps. I’m in far NTH QLD. Thanks again.

It’s not just density that sends the big stuff to the top. Even with the exact same material of the exact same density, bigger things rise to the top and smaller things find their way into gaps and sink to the bottom.
It’s known as the Brazil nut effect, and works in your favor if what you’re after is small.

    • @patrickmanasco5905

Which is density between objects rather than debiste of the objects themselves, kinda semantics, but also kinda another force in your favor

@@patrickmanasco5905 not quite sure what you mean. Density is by definition independent of an object’s size.

You said you were going to give a non-stop vid - but that's not what I saw! There were several commercials that interrupted the vid. Definitely NOT non-stop! 🤣🤣
So, I'm a smart-ass. But smart-asses CAN BE TAUGHT! I saw how you used the riffles in the pan to hold the heavier stuff fixed in place (like in that other recent teaching vid) - so you could safely (carefully/gently) float/wash the light dross off the top. Time after time. Two Great Vids, those! I hope comment numbers help boost the channel. Even smart-ass ones.

As to your clay balls, since the grains of clay accumulate over time does that not give gold a chance to stick to it in each flood/building interval? It seems every layer of clay should have some gold if there is gold in the area. I might be wrong.
