I love how even when tryna do something as small and relaxing as building your speedrunning habits kick in. Like how you organised your hotbar using your offhand, "speedbridged" when building walls, or (most notably) finding a lava pool and instinctively going to the nether
Just a suggestion: many builders use a stonecutter for crafting stone "detail blocks". It's not that expensive to make, considering the extent of your prepare stage here, and you save on material every time you make slabs, stairs etc.
Rek is going to master all the Minecraft areas. What area is next? Coding? Loving your videos rek, keep up the great work! Also, building tip when crafting stairs of stone variant use a stonecutter because it takes up less resources.
the bigger house should go up a bit more than the other one and use the same kind of roof, and use an outline for it with darker bocks like maybe replace the birch with spruce (only for the outline) and then a chimny to make it pop more
Bro. Rekrap is the pinnacle of someone you can look up to. He's got a lot of friends who he often plays has fun and makes videos with. He shares that experience with others he's a great pvp'er he's a good redstoner a great Speedrunner and he's becoming a good builder honestly. The paragon of someone to look up to. Keep up the great work man
Nice video, this inspires me to try a medieval build again! building is so fun when you figure out the best technique to fit your playstyle. Midievil builds in my opinion are the best-looking builds because they fit almost every biome, especially the spruce biome! Also, I think it would be so fun if you started a hardcore world series or something of that sort.❤ I think upgrading an entire village to make it look medieval would be epic
the way that rek laid out the thought process was so entertaining and relatable. when he was talking about having the idea in his head and it being murky, i instantly knew what he was talking about
A couple really simple tips Walls bear the most load at the bottom so the bottom should always seem more cracked or rugged. This can be achieved through rougher blocks like cobblestone, the addition of stairs to make it look like a chunk is missing, stone buttons on the ground to make it look like a chunk fell out(you could also do this on the paths to look like pebbles), some mossy cobblestone or mossy stone brick and you can even add the occasional slab around the bottom wall for even more wear. For the color palette you can add dead coral, light gray wool, tuff block, mossy cobble or mossy brick and acacia logs. Also the ore blocks can add more color like stone and deepslate coal ore and same with iron. For the flooring you could use oak planks, with striped oak logs and beehives. Lanterns also would of looked amazing in this build. You could also at wall blocks in the corners of the building to add more shape. For the roof you could add a gradient with blocks like yellow wool, hay bales, yellow concrete, wax blocks, and honey blocks. And there also some really nice gradient roofs for blue and dark gray. Anyways nice build and hope you make this like a series.
The best way to feel motivated and get ideas for building is, at least for me, have a story. When you have a story to build from, with a general theme, it's easier to get wrapped into the world and imagine what happened in the builds and how they came to be. Whether you already have a story planned out, or you create the plot as you find inspiration throughout the world, having a defined world can make it feel more real, giving the motivation to see it come to life.
You are on the right track with the roofs, I would consider using different blocks than birch to fit better with the spruce. But for the rest, it's a great house!
Cool video! A building tip I have for you would be to have a story for why every detail exists in the build. For example, why is there a raised platform for the build? Maybe it’s to get away from the hostile mobs. Then, maybe the entrance could be a little more secure. Another thing, like you stated, are specific details. You want the build to look realistic, so you want aspects from real life to be visible in Minecraft as well. There are pillars in real life to hold up the building and preventing it from collapsing. There are large windows to let in large amounts of sunlight. There are greenery in the build bc there are no greenery anywhere else and it feels like a ghost town. Even color also has a play. Blue represents the calmness, orange/yellow for warmth/and green for life.
great work honestly. way better than what I could even do in creative without any builder’s block. I’d say you’re well on your way to being a master builder rek. ❤
would be interesting to see a proper series from you doing things in a single world where you do things over a longer term project than just a single episode.
I love how organic your build looks. Whenever I build I end up trying to be way too precise, and it always feels like something is missing. I’ll definitely be taking some tips from you!
good tip: if you're building anything thats supposed to be medival-timed style adding vines almost always work and i think you can add some grass and flowers to fill in the empty dirt space
When he said “DUDE THE MUDE LOOKS SO gooood🤤” lol just thought is was funny at 9:42 but I love your video and I wish you the best of luck on your building journey
Hi Rek, It is honestly super cool and refreshing that you are learning to be well-rounded in Minecraft. That you wanna learn new things and are willing to try. It's inspiring to see that
If I'm filling in a decently sized area with blocks I like to spam place them in bursts of three. Usually I can set up the area with this in mind, like having a straight line I move horizontally across (Place three in front of me, move over one, place three) or a more narrow area with a few blocks of horizontal movement that I move backwards from. For me, this strategy has worked the best in the most situations, large and small scale, and I can get into a nice rhythm with it. Love the build! (Although, if I need to fill in a *really* large area, I use the exploit where you bind a key on the keyboard to place block, which spams it faster than I ever could, without hurting my hands at all)
Rek will conquer all aspects of mc, pvp done, redstone done, speedrunning done, building done. What's the next skill? Command blocks? Servers? 100 Days?
pro tip i like using, if you're building randomly with two different blocks you can have one in main hand and one in offhand and spam offhand key while building to randomly place them
6:31 rek, You are the most well rounded youtuber I have ever seen, you speedrun, play on smp's, a redstone maniac (in a good way) , pvp[er], and now a builder! YOU ARE AMAZING idk how you do it but whatever you are doing in insane man, love your vids bye.
Tip for placing blocks: with the mod "accurate Block placement" for fabric, you can place Block holding right click as fast as if you were dragclicking at 20/30 cps. You can also godbridge with that mod just by holding the mouse button
I can relate to rockclimbing, ur hands r so tired after and u dont realise how wesk they are. ( if you climb more you will get more and more used to it)
id say a thing you can do for your next video is some small terraforming or something like that, I always had the idea that terraforming must be big and large and i have done some of those projects, but the real fun for me is in the small detailed cliffs and little mountains. and the blending them into the existing terrain.
Suggestion as you continue building: Make sure to build outside of your comfort zone. There's a difference between getting good at one style and sticking with it because it's comfortable. Try some modern looking houses, fantasy builds, huge mega builds, or tiny extremely detailed builds
Here’s a little tip from someone who considers themselves to be pretty decent at roof building (it me), when making roofs you should definitely take the shape of the building into account. Buildings that are more circular/square (like you made) tend to look best with roofs ending in a point. Barn roofs or rounded roofs don’t usually look good on square/circle shaped houses cuz it makes them look like pills. For more elongated buildings barn roofs work better. Dunno if this was helpful or if I just sound pretentious, but anyway- good video! 😊

Hey rekrap1 big fan. You keep me motivated and an idea on what to build is a underwater build in survival minecraft. The reason why you should do it is because it is challenging to get air while building and the end results are going to be awesome.

Rek, this looks like a medieval wizard tower. Build an alchemy bunker then, kinda related, and it also means you'll focus a lot more on interior. A really good build balances a good inside and a good outside, so you also need to develop your inside decoration skills.
just a suggestion: you can build a medieval castle with a giant wheat field outside it and have some medieval mods for detail. (this is actually something i want to build but i don't have minecraft)

rek really ate that build up, that palette ended up working really well together. should you do this again, you should make a little barn/farm to go with your mini castle here
