Wonderful Opera. Adore Hampson and Dessay.
So do I :-)
What an amazing performance
by Dessay in Act 4 (02:12 - 02:33)
Unique Natalie Dessay !
merci enormement ! :-)
Avec plaisir... :-)
Even if we could find here and there, in the few recordings of this underrated opera, a better singer for one or other role, a more interesting direction or some more complete edition, 20 years after, this production is the best ever made. Yes, Hampson haven't the voice of Milnes nor the commitment of Degout. Dessay is a light soprano but she's might be on the whole the best Ophelie and this is the climax of her career. Van Dam is a luxury in Claudius, as Ramey was. De Young is not perfect for sure (the French and the line) but Gertrude was so badly cast during decades she's on the podium. And Plasson is a standard of conducting French opera. To watch and lesson again and again by whom love Hamlet and Ambroise Thomas.
Natalie Dessay is superb and (after 27 minutes of listening) others are very good too!
Yes, she is a great singer...
2:19:07 glorious.
And the blank gaze that follows...
Even that reality is crumbling.
Maybe the best Ophélie !!! Bravo Natalie

Yes, it's splendid :-)

The music and singing is absolutely wonderful ...!!! - the drama absolutely horrible: No Shakespearean depths of thought and psychology; no traces of the metaphysical-allegorical profundity of Shakespeares' main source Saxo Grammaticus ... Alas ...!!! This utterly non-dramatic opera does not belong in a theatre, but in a concert hall today. Thanks a lot for publishing anyway!
Thomas Hampson is horrible. Sherrill Milnes is much better.
Maybe Milnes is better but I like Hampson, his french is quite good. But his voice is more soft than the one of Milnes...
@@bernardgiovani958 Hampson is not a baritone at all, he is an undeveloped tenor.
@@BaroneVitellioScarpia1 Honestly I don't think so. In my opinion, Hampson is a lyric baritone with a pretty light voice but he's not a tenor
@@bernardgiovani958 No. Milnes is a lyric baritone, his voice is lighter than Bastianini or Merrill but not tenorish. Hampson's timbre is lighter than Franco Corelli, so he is not a baritone.
@@BaroneVitellioScarpia1 There are several kinds of baritone, the same for each voice. Hampson does not have a tenor color, but cellz of a baritone-martin. Corelli has a real tenor timbre
shawn uplaznik vomir? 😁😁😁ahahahah 😨😨😨😨😨😨
Natalie Dessay is considered to be one of the world's best opera singers.
