  • We're on a roll with our crossover coverage leading into the winter months, and this week we have the 2018 GMC Acadia Denali on deck. What makes this three-row crossover special?
TestDrive has had the pleasure of featuring the 2018 GMC Sierra Denali and 2018 GMC Terrain Denali so far this year. The Acadia, like the Terrain, has gotten smaller for this generation, now a mid-size crossover down from it's full-size status during its first generation. But does that make the Acadia any less of a capable family hauler?
Our Spotlight goes in depth to go over the exterior and interior features of this Denali, including the almost $11,000 in options added onto this press car. We take it on a road test to talk about what families would expect to experience if they decide to buy this American crossover, and what we feel about it overall.
Our comprehensive review of the 2018 GMC Acadia Denali also goes over what we like and dislike about this vehicle, and goes into depth about the options and packages on this fully-loaded model. Is it worth the price tag associated with the GMC brand, or that Denali badge? The closest competitors in our opinion are the Mazda CX-9 Signature and Buick Enclave Avenir.

Great review Nile. Sharp ride and a beautiful color, I have this shade on my Malibu. Love it! If they’d drop the 9AT into the Acadia I’d really be considering one and I’d have to get this color. Thanks for all the work you put in! Some of the best exterior shots/angles on RUclips. 👍🏼

Glad you liked it, thanks! I'm always trying to get better angles and slow shots for our cars. I know a lot of other channels have prettier looking edits, but sometimes simple is best.

Agreed! We've got the 2019 CX-9 Signature booked, it has some small updates from the Mazda6 Signature that we think will help to keep it on the top of our list. The GMC is nice, but it just isn't great.

As always......wonderful review! This vehicle though beautiful, is somewhat of a letdown compared to the old Acadia! The old Acadia had a presence that this one simply lacks! This looks too much like other vehicles in the GM lineup of lessor quality! Beautiful.......though somewhat of a letdown to carry the Acadia/Denali nameplate!

We felt the same way with this, and the Terrain. The previous generations for both vehicles felt like stronger contenders in their segments, especially with the drop down in size and segment for both this year. We think that GM has a fantastic brand recognition with Denali, they shouldn't soil it. These vehicles should be the absolute best, and they're not quite there.

Oh gosh,I actually found this crossover exciting! We wanted the 1st gen version of this but we settled on a Acura MDX instead only because it was more exciting to drive.....how do I PM on here?

It's not a bad looking crossover, right? It just doesn't stand out.

You can easily get $6000-8000 discount from the GM dealers.

No doubt! That's one of the reasons we said during our road test that no one will ever pay $63k CAD for this vehicle. GM is always very good when it comes to rebates, discounts, and incentives on their vehicles.

Except for GMC Denali brand has more profits than other labels like AMG.

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  6 лет назад

You really can’t compare AMG and Denali. There’s no doubt Denali vehicles sell well for GM, but they aren’t even remotely close to the same type of sub-brand AMG is.

The fake wood trims definitely look very FAKE!

I wouldn't buy any vehicle with that engine. The 3.6 is just a disaster. Doesnt matter if its tied to a fwd vehicle or rwd vehicle it's still a reliability nightmare. It's sad because they sell so damn many of them in everything from the Camaro to the caddy xt6 to the canyon. They desperately need to retire it but instead just throw it in more vehicles every year

Manufacturers seem to be a lot more complacent now with engines. I remember when a new engine would come with a new generation of a car, and sometimes new engines updated mid-cycle.

We agree! The 2019 Mazda CX-9 is the first to come to mind. We have it booked in late November.
