Dan, don't feel obligated to love or hate the show. I appreciate you being honest and critical of a show as you've always been. Not sexist, not a shill, just a critic..
I’m not a geek who typically obsesses over power levels and continuity, instead focusing on tone and structure like Dan does. But Hulk actually being taken off his feet by that Jeep at the end of Episode 1 was kinda it for me. The most iconic Hulk moment in the MCU is when he stops that Chitauri whale mid-flight with a single fist, and the obscene disparity between that and him getting knocked over by a vehicle that *probably* weighs less than he does was just borderline insulting. It’s becoming harder and harder to ignore the seemingly intentional weakening of the character all-around, when his very nature from the comics is the literal opposite. Unlike many fans, I was fine with ENDGAME’s treatment of him, but it feels weird now.
Except people get hurt when you crash into an immovable object. I don't think Hulk was simply knocked over but rather let himself get knocked over so the jeep could continue forward
Thoughts on that Titania action sequence editing (the fight itself between Jen and Jamila Jamil's character)? Looked like they deliberately avoided showing the punch landing (for probably obvious reasons) but the resulting cuts come out jarring. That choice might also explain the use of cheesy music, although even justified or not, it's kind of laid on thickly imo.
Also, a friend told me that Hulk struggled with Hulk for so many years because of his childhood trauma. Basically causing moon knight levels of personality split as he transformed into a hulking beast. Jen doesn't have the same trauma, so the transformation doesn't cause the same rage monster.
My reading of the Bruce and Jen interaction was a bit different. It varies from family to family but I grew up with a bunch of siblings and first cousins (which was basically the same since we lived together in a big house) and there is always a lot of rivalry among the siblings. Bruce was trying to go easy on Jen but she clearly was very competitive and Bruce didn't like it one bit. As for a fight we did it as a kids all the time. As the adults it's a bit undignified but if you are on deserted island and are almost indestructible you can wrestle a bit.
I think with the 4th-wall breaks, they just don't want to overuse it. Leave em wanting more, all that. I actually appreciate they're not leaning on it too much.
I'm hoping we get more flashbacks to her early hulk days, and get to see more about her discovering she can do them, and what she thinks they are. She looks suitably puzzled after she does the first one, in episode one, so I'm hoping they do something with that.
She also broke the fourth wall before entering the bar at the beginning. Four times in a 20 minute episode (without credits) sounds fair. It's more than in a standard episode of Malcom in the Middle. Also, it's a resource that is meant to surprise you (here and in the comics).
I definitely liked Ep. 2 waaaaaaaaaayyyyyy more than Ep. 1. Also, I completely agree that Bronson Pinchot needs to be included as a Banner family member.
As far as the 4th wall breaks go, I thought she gave the camera a couple other looks. Once before she walked into the bar and once at the family dinner
I wish more dialogue had been centered around the realization that Jen Walter's mind is in control of She-Hulk's body. I feel like Bruce should have questioned her about her intentions with the douchebags outside the bar. Yes, they were douchebags... their behavior is not cool, and if she was a standard Hulk rage machine turning them into meat splotches would be understandable. But she is conscious of her actions in Hulk form... that should put a whole awkward spin on the situation. I get that this is a moment to make the, what I assume to be, target audience cheer... but, given the context of the story, should it be?
I had similar gripes with the first episode being a bit rushed, but I appreciate that they did it that way so that we're not spending the whole series on it.
I agree it would have been a pain to have it all series, but I think a bolder choice would have been to barely explain it and let us just start in on the story. How much intro de we need for Rocket and Groot? You tell me she was exposed to Bruce's blood and I can fill in the rest.
I wonder if Charlie Cox was cut from Episode 2? He appears in the cast list... I really enjoyed both episodes. I thought it has a great sense of humour and the acting from all the main actors is mostly solid.
If it is the cast list on IMDB don't trust it. They had Yelena as a character for all episodes in Hawkeye before the season started and corrected it after every episode. Same thing happened with a character from Ms. Marvel, if I remeber correctly it was her female friend. She was also credited for all episodes and it didn't happened.
There is so much Marvel content now that I am past the point of I'll watch it by default. I need a reason to watch this stuff now. And I haven't heard much that makes me want to check this one out.
Yeah, Tatiana Maslany is (and continues to be after the first 2 eps) the only reason I'm watching it right now. So far it's an okay show, for me at least.
As someone who watches all the marvel stuff, this “wait and see” approach is exactly what I recommend to my friends. I don’t think it’s worth it to watch it all anymore, watch the good stuff and read summaries of the rest if you’re worried about missing story arcs
I just do that with content across the all media now. Like from SW, I have only watched 2 seasons of The Mandalorian. I’ve only done summaries for the rest. And summaries for all of ST. Same with DCU. I watched the Batman finally on streaming but I think I skimmed Aquaman, and the rest? Summaries.
Ignore the doofus saying the show is only for "chicks". It absolutely isn't. It's just a normal show, for normal people, and so far I'm liking it quite a bit.
Really great review Dan you analysed it so well and unbiased to any “side”. That’s the way I talk about movies to people and some of them just still attack me ! It’s like walking on eggshells! That middle ground too, i find She Hulk entertaining and really light , but heavy handed and kinda meh , nothing I ll revisit or recommend to anyone.
The only issue I have with Blonsky's defense is that he was juiced up to a degree by the US government and General/Secretary of State Ross, but then he turned around and crashed into Dr. Sterns office/lab and demanded he crank it up to 11. It's like someone saying "the Army trained me to shoot straight, so it's really their fault that I went on a rampage and killed a bunch of my neighbors." And yes, that's very dark, and very close to reality, but that's the spin they're trying to take with Blonsky. If he hadn't gone and demanded more of Sterns, his argument might be more solid.
There's a lot unsaid about how evil Jen's new boss is. He gets her fired from the job she worked hard to get, offers her a job when she's the most desperate, and give her an ultimatum with conditions she's clearly uncomfortable with.
He didn't get her fired, unless we find out that he organized Titania's attack. She was fired because she became a liability to the DA's office since being a superhero would bias juries and be a distraction. The rest of what you wrote is true though and he is definitely a bad guy and I wouldn't be surprised if we find out that he was actually behind Titania's attack.
@@toddhollen in ep 1 they allude to Jen being chosen for the case or something along those lines, so I believe someone influenced the case to go to Jen behind the scenes. It all points to this guy in my head.
It feels reflective of the "if they don't like being underpaid/harassed/overworked they should quit" mentality. Many of these jobs are entrapment and mentally manipulative. Jen is working against her own morals because she's been convinced by her boss it's all she has.
I'm honestly more than ok with the show. I think it is fun, it all makes sense and aside from the technical problems I can't really complain about anything. Yes, some characters have exactly one job (so far). Yes, it is all moving pretty fast. None of that has to be a bad thing depending on what happens next. The fight between He-Hulk and She-Hulk didn't put me off either. That's just a bit of play between siblings (-ish). And the remark about Cap... I mean, if you don't like the idea then just tell yourself Bruce is wrong about that. He totally could be. Or to keep it in legal speak: Objection, hearsay. :P I'm having fun so far. :D
The Bruce-Jenn fight makes sense if, in your head canon, it's just a fight among 'siblings'. In reality, it involved two adults where one is knowledgeable and experienced and knows that it's irresponsible to fight someone who may/may not have stable powers and the other is a normal person who recently became a superhero, but, mentally, they're still 'normal' and aren't prone to this level of violence. In short, that scene was stupid. Jenn would never run over her cousin and Bruce would never fight someone in such a vulnerable and unknown state.
Like Dan, I see this series as "OK, but not great". In fact it took me a couple of days to finally get all the way through the episode. I will keep watching though. I appreciate Dan's honesty. He does a good job of explaining that people may see things differently from him and enjoy movies and videos that he does not. I followed Roger Ebert's reviews from the late1970's until his death. It took me quite a while to learn his tastes and to realize that his views on a movie were greatly impacted by previous ones that had some similarities. I eventually learned that I might appreciate some new movies more than him simply because I had not seen the earlier ones. The plot or twist would be new to me. Although I am now an Old Guy when compared to Dan, he seems to intuitively understand that others may appreciate a movie or show differently from him. My "Dan Filter" mainly takes into account that he can enjoy horror or gore and I do not. I am one of those people who still enjoys a happy ending and may appreciate movies that others find too sappy for their taste.
So far, I like the show fine. I don't understand the timeline. It is taking place at the same time as Shung Chi but Bruce already has his sling off that he is wearing at the end of that movie. So is he going to reinvent his control machine and reinjure his arm before then?
From what I’ve heard courtesy of 3cflims another RUclipsr The titanium scene was supposed to be more towards the end of the series same with the origin story but they flipped it and put it at the beginning because they felt like would make more sense to put the origin story in the first episode so that’s why you see her in the first episode and then she doesn’t appear for a while.
Wait wait wait. I watched the first episode twice and the Cap joke was not present in the drinking scene. I don't have any parental controls on... I'll need to check this again today.
I'm mostly bothered by CGI honestly. They are rushing the shows so much, its apparent after each time a new show comes out. I really think they could've casted a different person for the she-hulk double (like as the literal person itself, instead of recreating a new skin, if that makes sense). Like Gamora, they just need to paint the actress in green instead of constructing her a new CG body. In this case, they could've at most remapped Tatiana's face over the double's. Practical effects are almost always better for things like these. Right now She-Hulk looks like a walking play-doh.
Considering the budget of the show is a far cry from most other Marvel shows, I can see why the level of CG effect is at what it is. This show is purely a made for streaming shtick which means rapid production on a very restricted budget.
I found out last week that Tatiana Maslany is not only Canadian, but from Regina, Saskatchewan - my home province. That made me a bit more excited about the series.
First - An opinion, I think, isn't right or wrong, it's yours. It's the knowledge, logic, and wisdom you use to get there that's important, and years ago I became a fan of your. The group of friends I went to college, and saw movies with, loved to discuss films and comics, but we hardly ever all agreed. Second - Mark Linn-Baker IS great! I've been a big fan since "My Favorite Year". As always thank you so very much for the video.
Epside 2 was way too short! I know it is similar to a typical sitcom - but when the end credits are almost 25% of the total run time - I think they could have made it 5 minutes longer
A typical American sitcom without commercials is 18-22 minutes and that's not without intros and credits. The 1st episode of She-Hulk is 31 minutes without the intro or credits, and the second episode was about 23 minutes. So far, She-Hulk has run longer than sitcoms. As far as adding 5 minutes to the 2nd episode, I can't really see what they needed to expand on in the episode to justify it.
@@DikaWolf with your numbers that is a 25% drop in minutes from the first to second episode. That is more than enough to notice and it's understandable that it would be a bit annoying to some.
Agree. It definitely needs that extra 5 mins - there’s too much sorry in a show like this compared to a classic sitcom. But I’m really enjoying it. It’s a fun concept and show.
Yeah I know. When the end credits started playing, for a second I thought, hmm the title credits took a while to start, then realized that the episode ended
Dan, don't let your not as enthusiastic response to this show get you down. You are one of the few critics that I trust and have given zero indication of being misogynistic.
I’m interested to see where the show goes and from the little I knew of the character beforehand it feels like it’s pretty consistent for that character.
I think it's totally plausible that Cap hooked up with an NSO babe for his first time. I see the events of The First Aveneger spaning over a couple of years and during that time Steve met someone else as Peggy would push Steve away for the sake of "professionalism" or whatever.
The Captain America joke is hilarious, I was utterly confused by how serious people took it. Bruce might be lying to shut his drunk cousin up after all. I loved the character in the Dan Slott comics and this is a perfect translation into the MCU. My only problem is that there isn't more dropped on us at once.
I wish you were enjoying the series as much as I am, but I really appreciate the effort and thoughtfulness you put into your criticism. Bruce and Jen were very close in the comics, so I think her competitiveness as the scrappy younger girl cousin at family get-togethers feels completely in character for her. She trusts Bruce like a brother and is comfortable enough to talk straight with him. Ruffalo has underplayed how much of an ego Banner has (it mostly only comes out in Hulkier moments now), but Jen knows him from before he was the Hulk. He needs to listen to her, and to both their credits, he does accept her reasoning for why she manages her anger better from the start than Bruce did. That scene has to be in there, so Bruce will feel secure that she's capable and not going to hurt someone because he'll feel responsible if she does. The fact that he left the planet indicates that he has confidence in her abilities and judgment. It's such a great scene, and it's a shame how many "fans" are deliberately misreading it as comparing micro-aggressions to traumas when it's about controlling anger. Thanks for pointing this issue out. Please keep up the She-Hulk reviews!
This is a show amongst an entire universe of comic book heroes. I'll be glad when we can just enjoy it, and stop beating each other up over it. My inner 12 year old should be ecstatic, not exhausted.
The Hulk fight was getting frustrations out. They are close as cousins. I think Jen learned a lot from the fight. For those upset that she was cocky, Jen was knocked down a peg in episode 2. I am loving the series, and so far, the CGI does not bother me. I would love it if Bronson Pinchot was cast as anyone in this show.
how did i not catch bruce's meta-joke saying "i'm a completely different person now".. i just thought he meant he's a full hulk now instead of human i guess i'm just not used to MCU doing this kind of stuff
Dan, thank you for honest review about this series. Definitely I agree with you about the using of the breaking the forth wall and score... and actually everything you said here it is what I think about first two episodes. It's really great to hear about things that I felt while watching because I know that I'm in minority that not really super enjoying the show.
I had thought that ... the "treatment" Blonsky received by Wong was part of the reason why he was able to get Abomination under control. I totally thought that the Shang-Chi scenes happened in the past and that this show was taking place AFTER the movie. I was very confused when I saw the post credit scene and it seemed to me like this was decided after Shang-Chi had already been filmed, it just doesn't really line-up for me..
She-Hulk could very well be taking place after Shang-Chi. This episode didn't make it clear when the footage of the cage fight was from. It's possible it's footage that only just got released by someone who has been holding on to it and wants Blonsky to stay locked up. Politicians running for office dredge up old stuff on their rivals all the time. Look what happened to Jimmy Gunn.
I disagree about the 4th wall breaking timing. I love it. I want it to catch me by surprise and be sporadic. If it's telegraphed then it's not really as much fun.
The timeline doesn't add up. Bruce was normal Bruce with the device on his wrist *at the end* of Shang-Chi, yet in this show, Bruce's device's already broken and he's off to Sakaar as Smart Hulk before Abomination fights Wong which is *during* Shang-Chi. Something's not right...
Can someone help me out here…. So if this show takes place at the same time as Shang chi and in the mid credit scene hulk was on earth and arm in a sling. But in this show his arm is all good
My only slight gripe about the Steve Rogers thing is that you mentioned him being with a woman in Germany. Most of the tour happened in America. Only the last bit happened in Europe. So, it's way more likely he had a regular date with a woman that ended in fun, or just got close with a dancer while traveling and it led to intimacy.
I haven't really been enjoying this series, the jokes and writing decisions are really odd IMO like why bring up caps sex life in the first place. luckily it's got short episodes and I'll still be watching just to see what they do with 🐸-man and daredevil.
I agree with the inconsistency of the 4th wall break. It’s sporadic that when it does happen it just ends up being distracting to me and taking me out of the immersive experience into the story while watching it. But maybe that’s just me
As far as that viral scene is going, I'm sorry but, it makes her look like a Karen. Cause your telling me everything Bruce went threw in his life does not compare to a woman being cat called or man splained? Bruce, whose been homeless, hunted like an animal, has the love of his life's father wanting to turn him into a weapon, even attempted suicide at one point cause of his anger, all that cannot compare to a woman's daily life?????
As someone who grew up close with a female cousin (she was my best friend and worst enemy growing up). That "Hulk" fight, was just a normal argument with my cousin.
First episode was very "Pilot-y," and a bit clunky as a result. But I really enjoyed episode two. I like the idea of a more procedural style show where she represents different MCU clients.
Can't say I agree with the review in regards to the anger management talk in the first episode. Refering to cat calling and stereotype women inequality for reason to be better at controlling anger better than Bruce came off as far to forced on and inaccurate given Bruce banners lore of why he has to control his anger (literally watching his mother get killed by his alcoholic father, split personality from the mass stress, uncontrollable rage, government hunting him, detachment from Betty, self hate, trying to kill himself etc. At the very best case scenario, they seriously overlooked an obvious difference in hardship. And it wasn't because of gender.
She glossed over his trauma, because her issues occur more often- which is a very real life issue... I hope the show addresses this minimization, but I doubt they will- and if they don't, I will blame reverse sexism- which this show seems to be teeing up a bit more than I'd care to admit too (bad writing isn't always agenda based).
My thoughts are pretty similar to yours. In general I have been enjoying it, but I think my enjoyment has more to do with the premise and potential and I'm hoping the writing gets better as it goes. I just think the writing isn't great, it's not bad, but the tone is a bit off and the jokes don't always work. I wonder if part of the problem is the same problem I had with the first season of The Mandalorian, that the episodes are too short. It feels like the whole episode is building for the story to start and then once it does the episode is over and now I have to wait a week to see what happens and it loses its momentum. If it did 45-60 minute episodes or posted multiple episodes per week it might be easier to get into. That's what saved A League of Their Own for me. The first couple of episodes of that were pretty rough too, but since I could binge it I could get to the good episodes faster and stuck with it. If I had to wait week to week with that show I might have fallen off after the first couple of episodes.
I see exactly the oposite. To me it was rhe trope joke were the character say something followed by being busted. She says that is calm because of it follwed by changinf, showing that she dont manage her anger. Well... However seems that soime people are angry just because she says that. Also she didnt appears to hve more control, the oposite, she was very impulsive, immature and often childsh.
With the Captain America joke, I feel like it’s still fairly open ended. While obviously Steve told Bruce he’s not a virgin, I could easily see him lying so Tony, Bruce and Nat didn’t give him shit about it.
No, that wasn't clear at all. Peggy was never on a USO tour, and it's pretty obvious story-wise that they never got together until Endgame. Of all the possibilities, Peggy would be the one I'd rule out first!
The second episode threw me a bit, because it lifts so directly from the start of Dan Slott's run with the mistrial and getting hired by the opposing firm storyline. I love that run, so I suppose I want to see more like that, but I don't think we're going to get to her arresting a ghost, suing JJJ for defaming Spider-Man, or putting Harry Styles on trial for rape.
I feel like her snapping at Bruce that way should honestly be treated as a flawed character moment. Like, yeah people have emotions and they bottle them up too much at times, but her so viciously comparing herself against him, who is trying to help her, feels way more like... reliant? In a way? Rather than a show of confidence or independence, it comes off like... > 'I'm very good at controlling my emotions!" she screamed, emotionally. Don't like. Relatable? Sure. But imho Jen should be a character we aspire to be, like a hero. Hope to see her confidence actually showing outward rather than the flawed comparison. Also, totally agree with the 4th wall breaks seeming really oddly placed. It's like someone watched House of Cards and said 'I could do something like that in my project!' rather than actually understanding the comics or why the breaks are done as / where they are.
We all have underlying biases but I think Dan manages to contain them far better than 99% of reviewers. You don't have to agree with him, but you can't accuse him of being unfair (and certainly not mysogonistic!)
It's not that She-Hulk made Hulk look weak. It's that so many of those Episode 1 moments were designed to build up the Jennifer Walters character at the expense of Bruce Banner; she's mentally stronger because she has to deal with unfair gender issues and has built the fortitude to do so. That's fine and all except that it misses a lot of points like WHY Bruce Banner has such weak mental facilities in comparison. The Bruce Banner character was abused by his father as a child and the Hulk persona is something of a representation of that pent up anger. What did Jennifer have to endure by comparison? It sounds ridiculous when you compare doesn't it? On top of that it's like they either miss purposely ignore the fact that the trauma is what made Bruce's character so interesting. It's the Dr. Strange effect almost, by almost every measure you have a great life, and now super powers, and I'm supposed to feel bad for you why? The gender crap her character deals with isn't great but there are far worse problems she could have and Bruce does have them. I wish they'd found a way to empower her character without doing it at the expense of a male character especially in a way that makes no sense. To be clear, I'm overall enjoying the series. I just understand that complaint and my opinion here isn't even unique. I've heard this elsewhere explained in much more detail. Dan here seems to miss that.
I mean.. cap coulda just made it up to get the guys off his back. Hell Bruce could have even made it up to shut Jen up. Who knows? Gossip is gossip.. even in made up universes 🤷♀️😆😆
I agree with you about the boulder scene. I hoped that the other training scenes would also be more middle ground. Like when they yoga it would have been better if Jennifer had to struggle first because she hasn't adapted her new limb sizes but after couple of days she would be better than Bruce. When they make those jumps and ground slams instead of Bruce pushing her off the cliff Bruce could say "too much power" and Jennifer would say something like "Too much power? What do you mean? You are just too weak!" And Bruce would slightly tap the ground under Jennifers feet and the ground would crumble and she would fall because of that.
I felt that way too, but it seems as though the cockiness is part of her character arc and she is learning that it is more difficult to juggle than she thought. I also drew a parallel to Rey who was basically instantly excellent at all thing Force related and really didn't result in a ton of character growth.
As to the stupid rant about how she’s “controlling her anger all the time”, that’s a flat out lie because she hulks out the very next second, and almost immediately hulked out at the guys outside the bar. So... no, she’s not “infinitely better” at anything and it is wrong to see this as a “yas queen” moment.
she was controlling that transformation, which she points out literally seconds later, and the other she literally JUST got hulked out and had no idea what was going on. she even mentions blacking out. were you even watching the same show?
let's not forget Isaiah from Falcon and Winter Soldier. Also, i can understand the annoyance with the character being depowered but imagine if Hulk, Captain Marvel, Wanda, were ridiculously OP like the comics (mind you, Marvel takes creative liberty) those characters can easily shorten a film and people will complain wanting more. on the other hand if they're stupidly OP and absent, or are so until an ex machina moment, there's complaint of "where were they?" and the studio/writers whatever still get crap for how a character is. I agree Hulk was great in avengers and Age of Ultron and the idea of Smart Hulk in End game despite him being sidelined, but you can't complain every single direction a character can be taken
Holy shit 😄 i thought when he said a different person literally, he meant smart hulk. That makes so much sense that they meant different actors. I even said the Hulk was Edward Norton when she was talking to Emil and I still missed that
One trope Marvel needs to put down is the name trope. We get it, superheroes make fun of the comic book names. From Star-Lord, Spider-Man, Dr. Strange, Ant-Man, Flag Smashers, Taser Face, Dr. Otto Octavius, Blackagar Boltagon/Black Bolt. And now, She-Hulk. A joke does not get funnier the more you tell it.
Bruce pushed Jenn off a cliff. *Natasha:* You did what?😲 There's no way Bruce pushes anyone off a cliff as a joke after Nat tragically died on Vormir. But the writers wanted jOkEs.
@@sunnysied713 Yes because Bruce was there and would have that visual in his head as he pushed Jen ... wait a minute. Please, Bruce knows that Jen was in absolutely no danger from what he did. Also, Nat jumped, she wasn't pushed.
@@dansharp2860 I know, Nat jumped. She wasn't pushed. That makes Bruce intentionally pushing someone off a cliff even worse. Bruce was was concerned about Jenn's well being and how the Hulk affliction would disrupt her life in every single way. Bruce would also know that people respond differently to stress. He wouldn't be 100% scientifically confident that she couldn't get hurt or wouldn't automatically transform back to a human. If your girlfriend threw herself off a cliff and died, then would you push your friends and family off a cliff? Hell no. Writing was trash. They just did it for jOkEs. Mediocre Comedic Universe. Lol

Dan, thanks for acknowledging some Easter eggs and saying that’s not your thing. That’s respectable.
Yesss I agree with the Perfect Strangers reunion, I'm all for it!
The bylaws of the SAG says you have to mention that there may be a Planet Hulk movie coming soon.
100% this. I’m Frankly shocked people read it otherwise.
you also always take it a little easy on your family but that doesn't mean you don't go at it.
That she controls her anger because she'll be called difficult or might get murdered... um, how is that different from ANY. OTHER. HUMAN?!?!?
I think with the 4th-wall breaks, they just don't want to overuse it. Leave em wanting more, all that. I actually appreciate they're not leaning on it too much.
I agree!
I feel like it would get old fast if it was used a lot.
I'm hoping we get more flashbacks to her early hulk days, and get to see more about her discovering she can do them, and what she thinks they are. She looks suitably puzzled after she does the first one, in episode one, so I'm hoping they do something with that.
@@johnnypopstar It was also interesting that Bruce noticed her doing it while her new boss was completely and totally oblivious...
I actually preferred how it was done this week more than the first. I'd hate to see it become a gimmick.
Exact opposite for me!
Lmao! Balkie
Silver Surfer
I could see him as a supervillain. He's good at playing a bad guy if you saw netflix's sabrina
100% I almost stopped watching after Episode 1 but am all in now with Ep. 2!
As far as the 4th wall breaks go, I thought she gave the camera a couple other looks. Once before she walked into the bar and once at the family dinner
A couple in the law office too
I wish more dialogue had been centered around the realization that Jen Walter's mind is in control of She-Hulk's body.
4:40 THANK YOU. OH M,Y GOD. THANK YOU.
15:20 - Wait, wasn't this the exact script Ting Mobile used to also say?
I'm enjoying the show, but not 100% loving it. Some moments just don't work for me unfortunately.
I had similar gripes with the first episode being a bit rushed, but I appreciate that they did it that way so that we're not spending the whole series on it.
thats the whole point of putting a new character in anything
I agree it would have been a pain to have it all series, but I think a bolder choice would have been to barely explain it and let us just start in on the story. How much intro de we need for Rocket and Groot? You tell me she was exposed to Bruce's blood and I can fill in the rest.
I wonder if Charlie Cox was cut from Episode 2? He appears in the cast list... I really enjoyed both episodes. I thought it has a great sense of humour and the acting from all the main actors is mostly solid.
I think his voice was in it, I think he was the second person who interviewed her for a job but turned her down
If it is the cast list on IMDB don't trust it.
It's just a normal show, for normal people, and so far I'm liking it quite a bit.
the tone also so similar in most shows that I lost interest. I started reading comics again though, because those are actually varied...
Assuming there's no video or living witnesses of that conversation, he could probably get away with it.
She could have said no, but she didn't... so he's not that evil...
@@5pid3rman80 and stayed unemployed? Yeah that was a real head scratcher..
I'm having fun so far.
I mean Cap was in his early 20s, super hot, and hanging out with a bunch of USO girls. He definitely did some stuff, let's not be silly here.
You are assuming that the news report is happening right after Shang-Chi when the footage could be weeks or even months old.
I want to see Bronson Pinchot as a client.
The episodes feel too short then something big or exciting happens and then the episode ends which gets annoying
Thanks for the great review as per usual! I absolutely loved the Ed Norton nod. Super fun!
And CG Jen walks weird. It’s jerky and unnatural.
Was that 'Captain America Fucks' a reference to silicon valley? I think so.
Yeah, that is a bit annoying for sure
The cap thing makes sense. How would he have responded to advances from a woman? I feel like he would have been to polite to say no.
And/or interested
I’m interested to see where the show goes and from the little I knew of the character beforehand it feels like it’s pretty consistent for that character.
I think it's totally plausible that Cap hooked up with an NSO babe for his first time.
I see the events of The First Aveneger spaning over a couple of years and during that time Steve met someone else as Peggy would push Steve away for the sake of "professionalism" or whatever.
It’s ok not to like it dan. I’m a girl and I’m not blind to the flaws of this show
Heeeey! It’s a small world after all.👉😃👉

The Captain America joke is hilarious, I was utterly confused by how serious people took it. Bruce might be lying to shut his drunk cousin up after all. I loved the character in the Dan Slott comics and this is a perfect translation into the MCU. My only problem is that there isn't more dropped on us at once.
By confirming Cap isn't a virgin, they made it harder for She-Hulk's haters to identify with him😄
I wish you were enjoying the series as much as I am, but I really appreciate the effort and thoughtfulness you put into your criticism.
I feel like an easy solution to that is just watching the show and not watching reviews of it.
I think when she was being walked towards her office that was another 4th wall break. Was kind of subtle and I actually liked it.
how did i not catch bruce's meta-joke saying "i'm a completely different person now".. i just thought he meant he's a full hulk now instead of human
i guess i'm just not used to MCU doing this kind of stuff
Dan, thank you for honest review about this series. Definitely I agree with you about the using of the breaking the forth wall and score... and actually everything you said here it is what I think about first two episodes. It's really great to hear about things that I felt while watching because I know that I'm in minority that not really super enjoying the show.
Its already discussed in winter soldier that he wasn't a virgin he is talking to black widow and he said he wasn't dead just old
Sucks that critics have to walk on eggshells when expressing opinions about certain shows. This new culture is toxic
They haven't said that it just happened. What DID just happen was the footage going public, which may or may not be quite some time later.
It's been said that the first "origin story" episode used to be the the eighth, so Titania was introduced towards the season's half.....
But in this show his arm is all good
Can someone clear this up
Yeah, marvel doesnt care about consistancy any more. They have directors and writers who havent even seen the whole mcu, let alone read the comics.
It's an eye rolling show, I like the character and I wish it was a better show
Yup the writing is so lazy.
I'm all for a Perfect Strangers reunion. #teamperfectstrangers
I agree with the inconsistency of the 4th wall break. It’s sporadic that when it does happen it just ends up being distracting to me and taking me out of the immersive experience into the story while watching it. But maybe that’s just me
Please review Sandman
I agree and Disney REALLY should have dropped both episodes in the first week because it REALLY would have helped with this
I don't think you're going to get it here based on the lead writer's comments about the team realizing they don't know enough to write a procedural.
I think the main problem it's too short and the episodes stop before it gets interesting. The sitcom mix with superheroes doesn't work
My thoughts are pretty similar to yours.
More She-Hulk reviews please. I disagree with half you critiques, but love how thought provoking your videos are. Great stuff! Thanks.
I'm so on with the Perfect Strangers Banners🤣
I see exactly the oposite.
To me it was rhe trope joke were the character say something followed by being busted.
She says that is calm because of it follwed by changinf, showing that she dont manage her anger.
Well... However seems that soime people are angry just because she says that.
Also she didnt appears to hve more control, the oposite, she was very impulsive, immature and often childsh.
So far I'm enjoying the show. It's nothing groundbreaking but it's still a fun watch.
The John Byrne comic was the only times She-Hulk 4th wall breaks after which Marvel took that shit outta her.
Still can't decide if this is a watch for me...
I always appreciate Dans reviews
With the Captain America joke, I feel like it’s still fairly open ended. While obviously Steve told Bruce he’s not a virgin, I could easily see him lying so Tony, Bruce and Nat didn’t give him shit about it.
I think it was pretty clear that the girl Hulk was referring to was Peggy but lol
No, that wasn't clear at all. Peggy was never on a USO tour, and it's pretty obvious story-wise that they never got together until Endgame. Of all the possibilities, Peggy would be the one I'd rule out first!
Why we talking about BALKI BARTOKOMOUS?!?!
But Blonsky STILL more Hulk formula till the end of Incredible Hulk 2008.
Standing tall, on the wings of my dream
Rise and fall, on the wings of my dream
Loving it so far. Funny and smart.
Kinda agree with all this, but I’m just happy we have a she-hulk show… cousin Larry is a bonus
The virginity topic was setting the tone of the show
Perfect strangers, nice one I loved that pair up too🤣👍
Is the jury still out... I see what you did there. But, yes, I think episode 2 was better than episode 1... Looking forward to more
I mean.. cap coulda just made it up to get the guys off his back. Hell Bruce could have even made it up to shut Jen up. Who knows? Gossip is gossip.. even in made up universes 🤷♀️😆😆
Oh, and her “rage face” never looks angry but like she’s playing with a baby.
Taking the middle ground generally shows that you're being objective and aren't concerned with jumping on one band wagon or the other.
Also, i can understand the annoyance with the character being depowered but imagine if Hulk, Captain Marvel, Wanda, were ridiculously OP like the comics (mind you, Marvel takes creative liberty)
those characters can easily shorten a film and people will complain wanting more. on the other hand if they're stupidly OP and absent, or are so until an ex machina moment, there's complaint of "where were they?" and the studio/writers whatever still get crap for how a character is. I agree Hulk was great in avengers and Age of Ultron and the idea of Smart Hulk in End game despite him being sidelined, but you can't complain every single direction a character can be taken
One thing I will say about Frito-Lay is that they support a LOT of film and independent filmmakers, including Rooftop Films in Brooklyn.
"Cousin Larry! Don't be ridiculous!"
I really enjoyed the first 2 episodes. It was well written and the jokes worked a lot more when compared to recent entries Thor and Doctor Strange.
Bruce pushed Jenn off a cliff.
*Natasha:* You did what?😲
There's no way Bruce pushes anyone off a cliff as a joke after Nat tragically died on Vormir.
Lol
@@sunnysied713 Eh, you're welcome to your opinion. I think you're overthinking these pieces of throwaway entertainment but to each their own.
