Where Does Milk Come From?

- Not too long ago all milk came from small farms. To this day, around the world, cows and goats are kept just like this to produce dairy for one family.

Good morning friends! That's what it feels like watching your videos. I love it. It is 19° here. Thank you for sharing your life with me. God bless you abundantly! Much love from West Virginia
Hi. At least it’s sunny. Art, I’ve never seen anyone milk like you do. Wish we could have seen the bed the pigs made.
Just a suggestion, Art, but Alice looks like her back feet need to be trimmed. They are too long and sitting at the wrong angle. I am not an expert but have owned milk cows for most of my 82 years.
Hi..... Art and Brianna, thank you for sharing your video homestead 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 🎥👍👍👍
After that comment I was just waiting for that cow to poop!
I love watch the kids helping Bri milk Alice, heck they ask to help. What a pleasure to see productive nice kids. They are so lucky to be raised by you all on your homestead in the foothills and Mountainous country. Stay safe.
Many many many years ago( mid 1950’s) my aunt had four milk cows. The highlight of my sleepovers with her or my grandmother was milking the cows with Lillie in the morning. She would milk each cow, collect the milk bring it into the house and heat it on the stove to pasteurize it. Next she would skim cream and milk she need for herself and what was left would be picked up by the local dairy to be processed and sold. In those days the Milkman came to your house and left bottles of milk cream butter and eggs a couple of times a week. Everything tasted so good!
What a lovely memory!
Yes chickens need more in the winter. Love you guys
Looks like Alice needs a pedicure! I've been watching way too much of the Hoof GP on RUclips! :)
Yep, I noticed it on the bull and now I see it clearly on the cow too. Their hooves are seriously overgrown. They will not be able to walk on it for long.
Definitely. And Hoof GP is seriously addictive.
Love watching #HoofGP
Not to much just addicted is all! Now there is a sheep farmer in Scotland clipping hoofs! I had to step away when he wanted to name his show the hoof trimmer... His buddy said "you can no do that" okay now I'm hooked ...... lol
@@marlenekutcher938 Yes, I saw that! :)
Our middle daughter was a very big baby (10 pounds one week before my due date). She nursed constantly. She was the only one of the 3 that bit me. That first and only time she drew blood so I had to lay her on her blanket on the floor to get a tissue to stop the bleeding. She screamed like a banshee, but she never did it again. Thank goodness!
My grandpa had a dairy farm and after nursing 3 babies, I completely understood and appreciated that he was so particular about miking his cows on schedule.
Love your videos!
Omg the comment at the end about the beard grabbers was hilarious and made my day! Good vibes your way! 👩🏼🌾💕👨🌾
Missing you and your family. I hope and pray that all of you are well. I hope that some day we get to see all of you again.
Chickens should have access to feed and water ALL the time except when roosting in the coop at night.
The homestead looked very peaceful.
I watch The Hoof GP. You might want to get the cows hoof trimmed. They seemed long to my RUclips expert eyes. 😆
Love the Hoof GP too!!!
@@BrilliantLove2
Just listening to him is so relaxing. Even as he is avoiding gallons of piss or poop. 😆
@@ruthannjones5873 ha ha yes, I agree!
Also Midwestern Hoof Trimmer. Alice's hooves seemed overgrown and starting to curl. She may not need much trimming.
Anyone watch Saskdutch kid? Love when he calls the cows "girls". Like to watch The Hoof Gp here to. He loves on the cows too 🥰
Lovely to see your cow milking process. My milk cow calved four days ago and I have been stressing about when I need to milk her out completely, even though the calf is with her. I am looking forward to it being that relaxing
bread looks like your cows whose needed to be trimmed darling you might want to check on it she doesn't look like she's standing right she looks like she's standing kind of like on the hulk like backwards but I may be wrong but I love watching you and art and your children you're awesome you got a nice farm there I'm so glad watching y'all get your house ready God bless from south Mississippi love you
I like all that you show us, I learn a lot and your videos are calming.
The hooves need trimming. Getting to long.
I love watching you on the farm together as a family. Can’t wait for summer xxx
Enjoyed the video. Kids are such good helpers. God Bless
I made my first ever tallow Monday night. It doesnt look perfect, but it looks and smells good enough for my iron skillets, so I am happy with it
i love the beautiful time lapse shots
Music choices are fabulous......I particularly enjoyed 8:22 and on. Fun.
Thank you... Have a good day.
I enjoyed today's video it reminded me of my grandparents farm. I just love all of your family videos. Love you guys. 🥰♥️💞
“Beard grabbers are enemies for life.” LOL 😂
Alice looks like she needs her hoofs trimmed. The only trimming channel I watch is the Hoof GP based in Scotland, but I'm sure you can find an American trimmer to tend to Alice's feet. Don't want her to be lame, or in pain and decreasing her production!
Another Western Australian here have to agree love your Chanel !
Joyful seems like such a wonderful young women. You have done such a good job with her, Bri. All the kids are great. I hope you know that we see how hard you work Bri. I hope your house gets done some day so you can go back to the homestead. I am so thankful that you have a decent home for you and your children in the interim. You absolutely sparkle when you are outdoors in your garden.
Really enjoy watching your videos
Love your channel
Hi from Western Australia
I think that steer likes the attention Art.
Hi Bri, I remember you say sometime back how much you enjoy milking. Is that the reason why you dont use a milking machine or is there another reason? I enjoy watching your families channel so much. Blessing to you all. ❤
Cream from Fresh Milk is the BEST! I miss it soooooo muchhhhhh!! We got milk from a local dairy in the evening after milking and the milk was still warm and very fresh. Miss it!!!
Thank you for the video
Bri I remember quiet vividly when my daughter was 6 months old and started biting when nursing her. I was ready to give up. Then my doctor said when she bites to just lightly tap her on the head to distract her. Thankfully it worked.
I love the milk cow videos! Thank you!
I love how when you are driving down to your farm you are passing your kids. They know that they will likely get a ride back up. Best of both worlds!
Cow comment @ the end!
😆😆😆
another great day on the homestead
Here in västerås sweden is -11 degrees
Celcius. Nownis the chock 9:36 pm
I noticed that the hooves on Alice are really in need of trimming. I am always on folks for this. I learned the hard way. Lost our milk cow cause we didnt keep up on this! Way too important!
Hi from Saskatchewan where -45 Celsius with the wind it it’s cold
Love your videos👍
Try putting the cow mat in the barn overnight to keep it dry.
Nice episode 😊
You should have your cows hooves trimmed, they get to long it can cause harm then good.
thanks for the heads up on not grabbing someone's beard... not sure why it's so tempting lol... also it's all about perspective - minus 6C here this morning and my thought was yay it's warmer! :)
Chicken bthis time of year and especially with snow aren't find much when free range you need to increase feed and being cold much being convert to body heat
If you have access to eheat straw baled in field spread for scatch there be some grain for them to find also put out some sand and small pea size gravel for them needed for gizzard to grind seeds ect
I am going to echo the other comments,as I was already thinking the same thing,Alice is in need of a hoof trim. She will be much better balanced and more comfortable, especially as she starts to put on weight. The bonus is it will make great vlog content. I’m a long time horse owner so the farrier is nothing knew to me but I have also been watching loads of hoof GP. You just can’t get enough! 😂😉
PLZzz...show us how you make tallow!
Laughing -6 celcius is cold for us it is spring weather depends on what you are use to.
Yes
Hoofs are way overgrown. You really need to have that taken care of of on your cows.
The chickens will all have a chance to get food now
Been thinking those older bigger girls have been getting more food .
Alice is beautiful but she needs a hoof trim.
Loved watching the milking process. Beard grabbers are enemies for life 🤣🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Looks like hoof trimming time.
excellent 👌 friend
Hello can you make a full vidio about cow milking bu bucket milking machin please?
👍👍
Is this a new cow? I don't remember seeing your cow in milk before. I must have missed some episodes!
cool video, have a day
It looks like Joyful will become your little helper Bri. She is doing great. I'll bet her little hands got tired though. This was another great day on the homestead. For some reason I hadn't noticed until today how much the calves have grown. They are getting really tall. Thanks for sharing your morning with us. Have a Blessed day. BTW Art...it took me a few seconds to catch the cows "remark" at the end. Good one.
Shhh dont jinx ypurself😆😆
Have a good evening ❄❄❄
You might want to have Alice's hooves trimmed.
Learned something from you today Bri. I did not know that different parts of the cows meat had fat that tasted different. I cut some beautiful fat off rib steaks and rendered it and it was delicious, I was wondering why beef fat did not always taste so good, now I know. Your bull sure does not like Alice to be out of his sight. Yes teat grabbing is definitely worse and so are babies who bite. :-)
Art's comment about beard grabbers reminded me of when my niece was about 3 and she grabbed my mustache and gave it a real good yank. She pulled it so hard I thought she was trying to start a lawn mower. Lol. Although it hurt like the dickens, I didn't get upset with her. I explained to her that pulling someone's mustache or hair wasn't nice and it's something she shouldn't do. She's still a sweetheart, plus she hasn't pulled my mustache again, at least not to date. Lol.
I can’t get over how big those calves are, it seemed to happen over night. Why is Ferdinand bellowing like that? Or is it one of the calves.
💛
💖
My chickens (less then one year old) almost stopped laying completley over the winter, and they have free access to feed. :(
I was noticing that Alice's toes were getting long, do you typically trim them?
Usually a pro has to come out to do it.
Do you all still sell the t shirts that say "another great day on the homestead". I don't see it and I've about wore mine out.
You have to cut the hooves off the cow.
She says "Look at the bed the pigs made" but then we can't look because camera never pans over there. :-(
Do you wash her after the cows drink before milking again? Such an interesting process!
Yes
I have a question for Bri: do you pasteurize your milk after collecting it?
I've been watching over a year and Bri has never said anything about pasteuizing. Most people with family cows don't.
How often are you supposed to trim a cows hooves? Just wondering.
abracadabra alice, turning hay into milk and cream, caring for moonpie and poise, and pregnant too.
I always stay until the comment at the end. 🥰
This was a good one.
Chickens need bread in the winter to keep laying....
Just wondering why you chose to put your milk stand outside in the cold? I love your videos and watch them all.
Bri has vision challenges so full light probably makes a huge difference since there is no artificial lighting in the barn.
@@AB-ol5uz thank you for responding, I can understand now why you do it. God Bless
You guys have all that milk, do you make butter and cheese?
🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
Uh 😳 I've been called out, I only grab beards when I'm drunk and lacking all self control 😅 my apologies!!! I don't do that very often any more being a mama now though.
Maybe it's time to wean the calfs .
I am dying to see the Pigs Bed. 🙂🐖🛌
My brother has a long beard. Pretty sure if someone grabbed it there arm would get broken lol. It would be so quick they wouldn’t know what happened.
I have a question...how old are the calves? Should they still be nursing full-time? When will you take them off the mama cow?
Since they aren't living there full time they are not milking every day, per earlier videos.
@@AB-ol5uz That doesn't answer my questions that I asked.
They will probably come off when they want to dry Alice off before the next calf is due. That gives Alice time to build up her strength. Unfortunately the family will not get any milk during that time. Keeping the calves on her lets them milk sporadically when they want/need milk themselves. Otherwise Alice could get mastitis from inconsistent milking or she might even dry up spontaneously. Same answer as the other viewer just a bit more detailed. 😊 Be blessed.
i feed my 17 chickens 3 times a day
Are you keeping girl calf?
Does anyone remember the name of the adopted calf?
Moon pie
@@priscillah.3418 thanks!
@@vickigill6825 You're welcome!
Ask any college student today and they will tell you milk comes from the grocery store!
I live in the Midwest. Lots of cows here. The college students here definitely know where milk comes from.
I was just noticing the same thing Andy mentioned. Alice needs her feet trimmed.
Where’s the dog
Beard grabbers are the enemies....
I have to disagree with you Art I grab my husbands all the time.
