When I had twins my 1st appointment with doppler they couldn't find a heartbeat, so they did an ultrasound and found 1 heart beat, they had me come back a week later and ultrasound showed 2 healthy babies. 2 separate sacs but mine were monodi twins so separate sacs, shared placenta. Don't lose hope mama. God's will be done. ❤
And my dr. Did 1st ultrasound 2nd ultrasound was the ultrasound tech.

it could be superfetation. where you have 2 conception dates, one fetus is younger. or it could be that one twin is developing more slowly than the other.

THIS. My twins were a week and half apart, and they thought one was super sick because of it, but both were perfectly fine. It's also VERY difficult to get a good view on two sacks, because they can be stacked on top of each other- you really need a transvaginal ultrasound to get a good view.
also, your positive early test is because both babies were producing hcg. I wouldnt give up hope yet. its very much in the air at the moment.
AND- if your pregnancy continues to be odd/difficult for the next few days, chances are it is still producing hormones because it's still growing. one is just further behind. DO NOT take that drs word for it. you need to go to a specialist.
I've been an ultrasound tech for almost 21 years. It sad but happens alot with twins. It's called vanishing twin syndrome. You should get a vaginal ultrasound, b/c it would give so much more clearer images, especially since you are so early. That way, you would know once and for all if it was a viable 2nd baby or not. Hopefully, that would give you hope if its alive and he just couldn't see it very well (which happens alot) or peace, to know if it has passed. Either way, congratulations and I'll be praying for you guys about the other one.

Keep praying, I had a dr tell me I miscarried my 3rd daughter and I refused to accept it. I was right. We will be thinking about and praying for you guys.

When I had my twins they said they were probably 3 weeks apart in gestation. It may just be behind in gestation. Keep the faith. Hugs

How sweet of God to let you in on the other little life that might be waiting for you in heaven now. You enjoyed the thought of that baby and it only ever felt wanted and recognized and cherished by it’s mama from the beginning. It’s ok to grieve that little life and to simultaneously rejoice in it’s brother or sister. 💜💜
I was pregnant with twins 13 years ago. I didn’t know I was pregnant with twins. I was having a hard time and I lost twin A. It still haunts me. Every time I see my son I imagine there should be another child beside him. It tears at my heart. May you find peace no matter the outcome.

As a woman who was never able to carry a baby to term, plagued with miscarriage after miscarriage, I understand your sadness...I've lived that sadness. BUT...I'm still holding onto hope that the next ultrasound has different results. Sending prayers for comfort and peace for each and all of you!
The doc made me wait a whole month until he said it was twins. I was like you with 2 sacks. So as you know, He's in control.. prayers up🙏
You all are in my prayers. 🙏 My daughter second set of twins, she had the same experience and it went on for months that he wasn't growing or he had a weak heart beat. She would be crying after every visit, all the way until she had them prematurely. That was years ago and they (boy and girl) are bright and healthy. Keep the Faith, we know our Father have the final say. 😔
Maybe one was conceived a week later than the other - making one a week behind in development.
This! I'm pregnant with twins now, and this is what mine were! They were 4 days apart, which made one develop a heart beat faster than the other.

I'm so sorry. This just happened to my cousin also. It's such a mix of emotions. Thankful for a beautiful baby but sad for the loss of one as well. :( Prayers for you all.
My second child would have been a twin, but one resorbed before my second ultrasound. You need that next ultrasound. You need to know for sure. That way you can grieve the loss and move on to celebrating the healthy baby. Not that you ever forget. But the stages of grief do get you to acceptance eventually.
My sis had this happen.
We heard 2 heartbeats but when ultrasound came there was just 1 baby. We still heard 2 heartbeats though. Same with 2nd ultrasound. I delivered just 1 baby. My sack was large and I had a lot of fluid. Was told that my body re absorbed the 2nd baby. Idk what happened. It was suggested that maybe since fluid was so much that there was a echoing effect of the 1 baby's heartbeat. I felt like i had twins also when I THOUGHT I was pregnant, even before a positive test. Identical twins run heavily in my family also. They would have been identical. On my mothers side, her mother my grandmother, AND her dad my grandfather were BOTH identical twins and they had 2 sets of identical twins. 1 set died in utero and the 2nd set were born healthy. That just my close immediate family. There are more from aunts uncles etc from moms side as well.
@@barbaranelson5177 I am a nurse, and when it comes to your family, unless it is in your direct field of practice, details get lost. Especially when your emotions are involved. And there could be a healthy baby there, just not visible.

I'm sorry.... on November 16 1959 my mom went to her docs for a checkup. As the doc was listening to my sisters heart beat he started saying, oh no.... November 18 1959 my sister was born, 2 minutes later I was born! Oh no was the first time in 9 months the doc heart 2 hearts..... praying for baby #2
I've had both experience with twins. My twins are 6 and my twins in waiting are 4. My first set, my twin b was behind by a wk.
I'm not sure how far you are but the other little one could just be too early to tell.
Maybe go back in a couple wks and have it confirmed.

I was told I had a “blighted ovum, for four ultrasounds...I felt Life! I wouldn’t do the d/c and kept searching for another ultrasound to be done. Finally, I found one! I scheduled it and they found an 8 week fetus! Thank God I didn’t have the d/c, like they had suggested. Stay positive! Keep hoping! Get another one in a few weeks to ease the mind- f$&%!
Art and Bri.....That kind of news is very emotionally draining. 24 years ago I lost a twin due to miscarriage I look at my 24 year old son and am so thankful for him but still long to have met the other baby. Strange that while my son was small he always played with a playmate that only he could see and would get really mad when we called it his imaginary friend.
Hey that happened to me when I was young. I lost my 1st pregnancy. My 2nd pregnancy was when it was twins an when I went to the doctor I had lost one but I had a great heartbeat on the other. Unfortuanally I was never able to have another child. Thank God for my one. She's 24 now! I'm routing you on an praying for you Bri!!! Much love.🙏❤🙏
2 of my five pregnancies were fraternal twins. I found out at the time I lost one of them each time. Both were lost between 2-3 months. In both pregnancies, the other twins were born healthy. Those 2 are 12 years apart and are so much alike that they are my twins! I am so blessed to have them. My thoughts and prayers are with you all💖💖

I lost a twin at 24 weeks, I went into labor and I passed a small piece of tissue, obviously the loss had happened weeks before.. I did not know I had twins before this, weird mixed feelings for sure. I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl at 42 weeks, at home. Yes, I wish I could have kept them both, but oh how we love her. She is a mother now 😍
At 24 weeks a baby isn't tissue, it's a mini baby

Keep positive thoughts. Go for a second or third ultrasound. The one may be smaller than the other one because of a different conseption date.

I was in your shoes 16 years ago. The ultrasound showed two sacs, but only one thriving baby. That baby is now 15 and amazing. It's a weird thing to feel both joy and sadness at the same time. Thinking of you, Bri.

Bri, you are not crazy! As a mom of twins myself I can tell you the pregnancy is totally different. Don't give up hope until you get another ultrasound. Sometimes they hide behind each other! Your intuition is good!

Dear heart Bri, you are so very right to have that 2nd ultrasound. From my mom's experience in 1960 with twins, one healthy twin baby girl developed. No ultrasounds back then to see accurately the other twin girl not doing well. Due to lack of technology, the sickly twin died and affected the growth of the healthy baby. She lost both babies. I have twin sisters in Heaven. In today's world, you have much better technology available. Best wishes and prayers for you and your family!! 💕

Prayers Bri. Don’t give up hope. When my niece had bleeding at 9 weeks she was told she had a miscarriage after 2 ultrasounds. Her nausea continued so her doctor ordered a new ultrasound 3 weeks later. She had not had a miscarriage. She had a beautiful 8 lb. little girl a few months later. I hope the same for you and Art.

I had fraternal twins, one only survived till four months, and caused no harm to the twin who survived. The other, who lived to term, is forty now with children of his own. God may surprise you with a second little one ,but every little one is a gift as you already know,rejoice for your new life . I pray you get your hearts desire.

Aweee Art & Bri, we’ll be praying for you go for another US. This is so common though. I have one set of twins that are 13. Our 5th pregnancy actually I had a miscarriage, then got pregnant, early pain, showing, wearily, early pregnancy test, and my levels were quadrupling. I went in for a US and they saw twins two babies with heartbeats. So they also suspected triplets. With one of the others sacs being so large, I kept going back and finally between our 8-10 week US that baby twin reabsorbed and they checked my baby that had the good heart rate she had a V shaped sac and a empty sac tex to her so she would have been and Identical twin, with the maternal babyl that reabsorbed that had a heartbeat. Sometimes you don't bleed you just reabsorb the baby with the other little one. Especially that early.
You can see a specialist if you feel like it. With High risk pregnancies. I was told by a doctor that many pregnancies start with twins but women missed the vanishing twin due to them going later on in the pregnancy unlike you and me going early and seeing it so early - I will be praying for you, I wanted all my babies. it is heartbreaking. But God has a special place for those little ones waiting for us in heaven!

Could it be that if you have 2 babies that they might be a different conception dates? After 30-35 can be a thing and it would explain one formed and one that its still small

With our twins my pregnancy test showed positive early and I threw up the whole 7 months they were 2 months premature... was in the hospital 7 times for dehydration...prayers for you and your family.

I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks and trusted that if it’s not developing right, I’m ok with letting it go. Of course it’s sad too, but trust in what is meant to be is meant to be. You are so blessed and the whole process is magical and now part of your story.

💗 our second pregnancy we were pregnant with twins and I just knew it, we had two ultrasounds and both showed 2 sacs, the second ultrasound at 10 weeks wasn’t looking great and I then had what we know was a miscarriage of one baby , I carried the other baby to full term - a beautiful boy who is now 4 years old. As a mom sometimes you just know. I suspected twins at 7 weeks when I felt early movement. I was at the ER later that week for fluids due to hypermesis and found out it was triplets. We lost the identical triplet two weeks later. Mixed emotions for sure.
I know EXACTLY what you are talking about... That feeling of "just knowing" that you are carrying more than one child. My 2nd pregnancy... I knew... I told my husband and he never doubted me. Back then ( 37 years ago) ultrasounds were not done until 18 to 20 weeks. Lo and behold... Yes, it was twins and a third child that my body was reabsorbing naturally. This is quite common. We chose to not mourn the lost baby... And celebrated the healthy babies I was carrying. It was hard... But it kept me sane. Sometimes you just KNOW... Good luck! I love watching your family.. You are such amazing, calm, loving parents and your children are so sweet and beautiful. Hang in there Mama... You've got this.
Many prayers are going out for good results from the second ultrasound. Give it a couple weeks then go back for a second test based on the fact you do not sense closure just yet. Hang in there guys.

It's still super early. You could have ovulated 2 weeks later then the 1st ovulation. So therefore the embro wouldn't be as far along as the 1st. There is still so much hope!
Prayers for you. It is encouraging to read the comments and see how many couples faced this and had a good outcome. Over 30 years ago when I went through something similar there was no early ultrasound (I had to fight to get one at all) and the ob just brushed off my odd, late 'period' as nothing to worry about because I still had a healthy baby. We never told our daughter about it (until she was an adult) but when she was tiny she often spoke of her 'stister in heaven'.
The Amish have more twins than others.
One family in the community each of the adult siblings, 5 of them, have at least one set of twins.

The older the mother, the more likely they are to have twins. My moms 4th pregnancy was twins!

I think we are better equipped for our kids as each new one comes along AND as we age. Praying with the same hope for your twins. A word of encouragement...the reason my doctor said I was SO sick with my 1st pregnancy was because my body was fighting to protect him and keep him in the womb. Prayers for the same outcome for y'all in Jesus name Amen.

You are so lucky to be having another baby. I definitely know the emotions you are going through having myself gone to an ultrasound and clearly saw a sack but no living baby inside. It is heartbreaking to say the least, but God has blessed you with 1 healthy looking baby and that in itself is a miracle. You are fantastic parents and God will get you through this.
