      @@timburgener9004 There's a couple lands you can play that'll help with that, e.g. Mystic Sanctuary (which is an Island and can return Trickery), Cave of Souls (making your commander uncounterable), Mirrorpool (copying trickery if you have extra mana) so it's not like you're guaranteed to lose if somebody's got a counter up. But yeah, interaction makes these types of jank decks much harder to pop off with, thankfully (otherwise everybody would be running this)

    I've seen a similar idea except with the new pantlaza, sun favored with the discover. Commander is pantlaza obviously, then the deck has 95 lands(filled with stuff like ancient tomb, city of traitors, crystal vein, depletion lands, etc, to cast her faster than turn 5), long road home, creative technique, decree of annihilation and barren glory. You cast pantlaza, discover long road home which blinks pantlaza and brings her back on the end step with a counter so you then discover creative technique, you demonstrate it to get 2 copies and it finds you decree of annihilation which wipes put everything, then barren glory so you win on your next upkeep and nobody has any permanents or cards in their hand to answer it lol.

    • @Felixr2
      @Felixr2 10 месяцев назад +2

      This screws yourself over. Maskwood Nexus is less than 5 mana, so you're no longer guaranteed to hit Tibalt's Trickery. Doing nothing for 4 turns just to play The First Sliver cascading into Maskwood Nexus is an atrocious gameplan.

A substantial amount of cards in your deck needs to be creatures for maskwood nexus to have any value, so if you do mull to 0, you probably won't be casting The First Sliver until turn 6 or 7.
      And finally, even if you get Maskwood Nexus out on turn 4, what would it achieve actually? The gameplan is play The First Sliver, cascade into Tibalt's Trickery countering your own The First Sliver, and then you flip a wincon. At no point will The First Sliver ever enter the battlefield.

    I would add a Bloodbraid Elf and Shardless Agent to act as 2 additional copies of Tibalt's Trickery, and simplify your color requirements, allowing you to go off earlier than turn 5. You could also add some grossness with Mirror March, or a storm finisher.

    • @chaselewis5372
      @chaselewis5372 10 месяцев назад

      Problem with this is if you hit them off tibalt's trickery you brick. Might be a low enough rate to not matter but it does add inconsistency.

    • @andrewamann2821
      @andrewamann2821 10 месяцев назад

      @@chaselewis5372 the tradeoff is probably worthwhile... With no additional card draw, you're looking at a 1 in 92 or 91 shot to hit the other lower-cost cascade spell off of the trickery, and decent enough odds to just hit both on the way through to the Trickery. Having cascade stubs also prevents you from crashing out entirely, if someone has access to a board wipe. You should probably also run a Possibility Storm in here, which also allows you to cash in for massed cascade triggers later, in the event that your first 3 tries whiff, entirely. It forces you to reassess whether or not a storm finisher is a wise endgame, but it's another possible piece that trades consistency, in this case, for robustness, keeping you in the game if someone drops a Flusterstorm on you.
      Also, Trickery chaining into the lower end of your already high curve makes things kinda rough, as it leaves you having to wait even longer to fire up the chain again, but with people now aware of your entire game plan...

    How does Tibalt's trickery work with this? You can't counter the First Sliver with it, can you? So how do you get to use the effect?

      Cascade triggers on playing the silver not it resolving so you can counter it.

    How can you cast a counterspell with out a spell to target? Genuine question.

      The First Sliver is still on the stack when the cascade goes off, so you target The First Sliver as a spell.
