Having been a US sailor for 10 years back in the 1970's, I can, I believe, see things a bit differently then any "non service" people and certainly non sailors. Yes this is a war grave and yes there are 900 men still associated with that ship lying at the bottom of Pearl Harbor. I say associated because I doubt there are any bones left after all this time due to the destructive nature of being submersed in salt water. Having said that, I think it is very important to study the Arizona as much as possible. Unlike graves on land, she is or was a ship, a physical, tangible reminder not only of a date, a place and a time but also of the men who served and in many cases died on her. Unlike land grave or battle sites, she will and has been slowly deteriorating each and every day since 7 December 1941. One day she will collapse in upon herself and eventually little more then a pile of rust will be left to show that she and her crew ever existed. That time may be a long time off but it is coming. How else can we remember and pay tribute to this ship and her crew then to focus as much as we can upon this hallowed ground ? Just my thoughts and opinion.
@@markmullin4246 Yes you are correct. My apology's. When a person gets to be my age, often times memory fades. After 9 hours of open heart surgery, I assure you that remembering details, even of that magnitude, can be frustrating if not impossible.
Sorry, but I thought I was going to see a lot more photos of the Arizona and not watch a guy stand there talking about it. Kind of a snooze. I certainly mean no offense to the sailors killed or their descendants. I just didn't like watching some guy standing there talking about it.

If you are referring to the title, "Taking reality capture to a new level...", then maybe YOU should read it more carefully. It (CLEARLY) says, "taking". When I was in the service I spent time as an instructor, being a fire control man I taught electronic fire control systems including radars and high voltage systems and the most gratifying times where when I saw one of my students “get it” it was very cool to see that look on their face that told me they understood and that I had passed knowledge on.
Photogrammetry would be difficult to do on the Arizona due to size and visibility. Two 6 foot (printed in two 3 foot sections) 3D prints from the sonar and lidar data exist. I believe Autodesk has one and the other model is at Pearl Harbor National Memorial & Visitor Center. Unfortunately, last time I checked, the printed model wasn't on public display at the Visitor Center.
So even back in 2014, when there is a protocol to dress appropriately for a solemn and respectful occasions, this clown shows up in a $10 Sears shirt, a faded sport jacket, no tie, ripped jeans and shoes that look like he stole them off the feet of a bum on the subway. Keep it classy, Pete, keep it classy. SMH.
I retired from Interior Architecture in Florida in 2007 and was watching this to see what Autodesk was up to lately. I started on Autocad 9 and I forget the name of the new software I was learning when I retired. Essentially you had 3D intelligent components and you built the building in data, then told the software what to draw, i.e. site plan, structural plans, architectural plans, building elevations, building sections roof plans, wall sections, details, etc - then schedules for components. The designers spent all their time in 3D - which eliminated a lot of construction problems - and then said go and the drawings were drawn and sent to the printer for review. Then to the printer for distribution. Mind blown. That is the point at which I retired. NOW LOOK AT WHAT YOU ARE DOING!! WOW. It's a shame I am now a dinosaur! lol
I am right there in the Stone Age with you. Got a Degree in Mechanical Drafting. All Done By Hand first. Then was put into the huge blueprint machine. And out Came your Plans ready to be understood and Created! LOL

Agreed. We are fortunate that it is a place where we can actually go to and not just a memory of a place. A place that can be seen, felt and studied.

They should create a scaled down model of the entire ship using the same method as the model of the pot
