Of all the places to visit on the US East Coast, New York and Philadelphia would be at the bottom of the list. Stay out of there, they're not nice places. Much better would be: Newport and Block Island in the state of Rhode Island, Washington DC, Annapolis Maryland (a beautiful colonial era city), Charleston South Carolina, Savannah Georgia, and the coastal cities of Florida - Boca Raton, Miami, Naples, and Tampa-St Petersburg. All much, much nicer places than New York.
