Was going to ask , who was the lead singer in this video? (Nothing but promises 1969) I'm guessing it was the famous Victor? Another great vocalist and contributor to the eventual Tavares. Most gifted musical and socially entertainers of all-time! Wow.......this is the earliest video I have seen of the Turnpikes. Victor had a clean clear powerful voice. Soothing and romantic. The 3 brothers...Ralph, Butch and Pooch really harmonized and look so Young! This would have been during that period when Chubby left the group for short time. Thanks for posting this. Chubby was always supposed to be the lead on this. The reason they cut "Check It Out" (originally done by The Friends Of Distinction) with Victor on lead was because Chubby was recovering from gunshot wounds received while trying to protect their sister. Sadly, she was murdered.
It all comes down to promotion, not how good they are. The greatest groups didn't get promotion, and went nowhere. Capital Records were not putting money into promoting black artists in the pre disco days, and if no money goes into promotion, the acts most always get no commercial success.

Wow , I’m replying too the point about Chubby not being around because he was shot at the time. So they lost their sister may she rest in peace 🙏🏽 Also Chubby lost his own two sons one two murder and the other an illness. They were I believe 22 or 28 and 58 May they both Rest in Peace and Our Lord Watch over them and protect them ❤️🙏🏽
They (as Brothers), inherited "the same tonal voice." They worked "hard and long" (tirelessly for years) People upon honing their Craft since We would hear Them practicing at their House on "Madison/Purchase Street, New Bedford, MA (from the late 60's.)
