A fabulous day on The Cuillin Ridge in Skye. I got up early and headed up The Great Stone Chute to Sgurr Alasdair before heading across Collies Ledge to Sgurr Mhic Choinnich. The Black Cuillin on The Isle of Skye are hard to beat on day like this - a superb outing....

That view from the top of Sgurr Alasdair is just jaw-dropping! I'm disabled and it would be nigh on impossible to appreciate this any other way, so, many thanks!
Not the same but there are off-road mobility scooters that you can take up a decent trail into the Malvern hills. Looking at doing it with my mother in law. Worth looking into if that's your sort of thing
@@MindSurf248 Thanks. I'll look into that. 😊
Absolutely stunning, with so much crap on the tv it's brilliant to have this to watch after a hard day at work.
Thank you so much for sharing this.
Atb Brian.
I dont mean to be so offtopic but does someone know a method to log back into an instagram account?
I was stupid lost my password. I would appreciate any help you can give me!
@Gary Camden instablaster ;)
@Paxton Guillermo I really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now.
Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Paxton Guillermo It worked and I now got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thanks so much, you really help me out :D
@Gary Camden Glad I could help :D
i just did Collie's Ledge this weekend. If i'd seen this video before the walk i'd never have agreed to do it! :) Awesome, terrifying and unforgettable. I'm def. not a climber. Shall stick to my sunday walks on the rounded Cairngorms me thinks!
I have done this the scree run down was fantastic back in 1978 but the view from the top will stay with me for ever
This is one of the best videos of the hills in Skye.
Great video Murray!
In the days before walking poles I used to descend the An Stac screes carrying a rock in each hand. That way, if I fell over I didn't cut my hands as I was already gripping a comfortable rock.
I did sgurr alasdair way back in 78 amazing day
As someone who is terrified of heights I couldnt keep myself from watching. Exceptional footage that makes me slightly sad I cant experience it for myself. Thank you, great work.
@@toomuch9762 You dont have to walk perilous ledges to enjoy fabulous mountains! There are plenty of safer and still exhilarating climbs and walks..
A photo round every corner ,what a poetic way to describe the beauty of Scotland.
Murray.you sure your not a mountain goat...the way u scramble over thoses rocks .lol..that was some seriously scary stuff in places.
Three breakfasts and a Snickers bar on the Cuillin Ridge? PLUS another adventure on the same ridge a couple of days later; which you say is potentially better than this one? Murray, you are a Legend! This is some of the best Cuillin footage around. And your presentation skills and your scrambling skills are second to none. Brilliant!
I had built up an appetite !lol Hope you enjoy next weeks installment too :)

Murray
Spent a week in the one on the right of 3 cottages seen at 19:18 into the video at the beginning of August. Got my wife, who is not a walker, up to Coire Lagan and sat there salivating about the thought of getting up the shute to Sgurr Alasdair and what I imagined would be amazing views. Now, just a couple of weeks later you’ve made my dream come true. 😃. Thanks Murray, for all the wonderful footage you bring to our screens.
Bill Cochrane thanks Bill - your wife will be thankful you don’t have to take her to the top now 😂😂👍

I’m blown away by this! I’d never ever manage these sort of climbs but my god it’s so fabulous watching you......the magic of Mother Nature and a good camera 😉
Nicely done Murray. Made me happy and sad. The last time I was up there was with Martin Moran who tragically died in the Himalaya earlier this year. Keep up the good work mate.
I was there in 2019. I was at the top and a jet flew in the valley and had no other option than to fly in our direction. A brutal sound for 5 seconds and a memory for a lifetime
That shot at 13:25 is incredible! 😮👏👏👏👏
Thanks for helping me to make up my mind .I'll give it a miss.
Great video Murray. Makes you wonder at Danny MacAskill cycling along Collie's Ledge.
Thanks John - he has balls of steel!! lol (ps that video is still my favorite all time video!)
Here is a link ruclips.net/video/xQ_IQS3VKjA/видео.html
Superb video. Did have to link to the mountain bike video which was also rather good. Cheers Murray.
Murray - just love your videos. I climbed Sgurr Sgumain, Alasdair, Thearlach and Mhic Choinnich with my Dad (who passed away in 2012) in August 1976. I've never been back since. this brings back great memories.
Stunning and scary. Many thanks for the wonderful vicarious experience. I only ever saw the Cuillin Hills from the bottom, possibly at your starting point, but also of course as we toured the Isle of Skye in 1974!
I went up here with my Dad in the late 90s. There were clouds forming just out of arms reach on the top of the ridge. Dad did some scree running there back in the 70s, but it was all ankle snapping rocks when I got there. One of the most beautiful places on earth :)
Skye is a paradise on Earth....Those views of the Cuillin, Rhum, Eigg etc....Unbelievable!! Brilliant film Murray....Love it!!
Stunning footage of a stunning place. Your work and the effort you put into every film as well as the slog of the walk leaves me breathless. Fantastic for us who've done the Munros to look at your work and remember and relive the mountains without having to cart around all that camera gear ,not to mention all the work of setting up the shots. A big thank you.
Andrew.
Beautiful mountains views are heavenly
Whoa that’s a dangerous one. Lots of experience needed there...Not to mention nerves of steel.
I’m sitting in My friends house in Skye and tomorrow I’m climbing Sgurr Alasdair the weather has been absolutely amazing and if you want to get in the mood for a climb this ticks all the boxes . Great Murray really enjoyed it.
my daughter in law is from arrochar and hates the midges with a passion . i climbed most of the peaks on here back in the 70s with the army .
Getting married in Portree in 3 weeks, we were up in the Cuillin last month at Coruisk, if anyone was around on August 27th it was THE best day weather wise ever, didnt see a cloud in the Skye all day, I've been going to Skye for 24 years and that was a first!
You might many to check Thomas Heatons channel - we walked the length of Skye and arrived on the 27th - was a fabulous trip for the next week (my videos won’t be up for a few months as it’s going to take ages to edit !! 👍)
@@ScotlandsMountains sounds superb, I did 'The Long Walk of Skye' myself back in 2008, the whole island South to North, I remember the first 3 days thinking Loch Eishort would never end!...I'll look forward to that video!
Absolutely fantastic, looked a bit scary in places, but Wow! 😲
If I was to describe this video. It would be inspirational and breathtaking. As a young man this was on my bucket list. Now kids are up and I’m needed less and less. It’s time to dig out the walking and climbing gear loved the drone footage.
Thank Bria - very much appreciated - hope you get the hikin gear back out soon

Enchanting Murray, just enchanting. Brought back memories of my climbs there in the summer of '92 (wearing Derby tweed breeks and using W A Poucher's guidebook!). Never been so scared in my life. I went up over Sgurr Sgumain (a simple uphill slog) and on to Alasdair, the famed 'bad step' proving to be relatively straightforward. I recall it being so windless on the summit that I briefly had a butterfly for company, and didn't even need to shield the match lighting my celebratory pipe. Then down the ridge (v scary) to the top of the Stone Chute and straight on to the top of Sgurr Thearlaich (tough scramble). I'd planned on continuing the ridge north to Collie's Ledge, but my nerves had frankly had enough, so I dropped back down to the head of the Stone Chute and descended it to Coire Lagan. I still distinctly remember thinking to myself "Never, ever, try to come up this way!"
Not being much of a rock climber myself, that day was probably my greatest achievement. Confession - I took one tiny stone from Alasdair's summit, and it sits proudly (and still magnetic!) on my mantelpiece to this day. Those shots you took of Alasdair and Thearlaich from Mhic Choinnich have given me a real thrill - "Was I really up there?" - for which I am truly grateful to you Murray. I can even forgive those execrable trousers...
PS: Hope you've shaken off that nasty stuff you got from the tick bite earlier - are you OK now?
Thanks David, I also have W A Pouchers book- everytime I hear it mentioned I just think of red socks (advise in the opening chapters ) - a great set of books he did too :)Feeling alot better now - these trip were done just as I was starting to get unwell... Finished my antibiotic treatments last week and on the mend and back in the hills :)

Sublime stuff..This came up in my recommendation and am chuffed for a change. I have drove past the Cullins for the past 30 years every summer on my way to the north west of the island. It's amazing to think I hated going to Skye when I was younger....how times have changed. The scenery is outstanding and your videos do it justice. Thanks.
Thanks Roddie, hope you enjoyed the vlog , funny how things change as you get older - I used to hate going places with the family as a kid, now I go back o the same spots and drag my kids along too :)

Wow, what amazing photography/videography awesome
Always happy to be a camera holder on Skye for you if you need one.
Watched this again for the umpteenth time..... it's just a stunning uplifting video Murray it gets a very regular outings on my 50 inch TV in my bedroom 😊😊😊😊 As I keep saying your photography is stunningly beautiful and obviously editing too ......😊😊😊😊😊 Those scree slopes remind me of my adventures on the scree slopes of Cadair Idris my favourite Welsh mountain with the most stunning views over the Barmouth Estuary ...I think you'd love it too ..Highly recommended but Skye is obviously magnificent 😂😂😊😊😊. Thankyou 😊
Wow! amazing…. Lovely views and drone footage. I have such a fear of exposure but I love watching these videos, knees wobbling and all. I am fascinated with Collies/Hart ledge in my dreams! Thank you.

Proper place! I'm biased of course. I'm hoping to get over next summer; Skye, Lewis & Harris - a family tour...lol.
Ewan : "Mountains, mountains, get your lovely mountains here". How do you sell mountains? ask Ewan.
Well done. Thanks for showing us!
Truely amazing and very unique place. This is one for the bucket list for sure. Another great video, thanks for your work.
Loved this, brings back so many memories, and reminds me to go back before it’s too late...thanks for posting, love the drone perspectives.
I’ve done Alasdair via Sgumain Shoot and West Ridge. And MhicCcoinnich via your route followed by An Stac via direct route. Both guided as I don’t have the confidence on my own, and both in poor weather where I couldn’t see a thing. Fantastic video footage and now I can see what I missed. Thanks for sharing Murray. Looking forward to the next one already 😎
David Blair what guide did you use?
Jim - I used Matt from Skye Adventure. Used him many times. Highly recommend 👍
Outstanding Murray! Absolutely breathtaking - thanks for letting us in on your adventure 😊
Absolutely fantastic, the effort you go to getting stunning B roll is appreciated, 2 steps forward and one back....... and repeat, brilliant.
Absoloutley superb video, tried Sgurr Alistair several years ago and bottled out on the last section way before it got that narrow. Then I saw your video....Jeez!! my palms & feet were sweating just watcing it on the TV. I feel so frustrated not having a good head for heights but glad I know my limitations. Thanks Murray and keep that footage rolling.
Some of the best mountain hiking content on RUclips right here! Props to you, I need to get to the Cuillin sooner rather than later!
Absolutely outstanding Murray, unreal 👍👍👍👍
Another brilliant video! Please don’t stop any time soon

You are bringing back lots of memories of when i did the Munro's in the 90s & 200's, did most with a friend who is no longer with us. Great memories........ many thanks.
That was bloody fantastic pal, what an amazing place very very well done murray, cheers.
Just getting round to seeing this, fantastic video. Although wish i had watched before i went up there, it might have prepared me for the exposure! i have done a few climbs, north buttress, tower ridge, observatory ridge but nothing prepares you for the exposure on skye.. hopefully next time my head will be screwed on the right way lol
Thanks Stephen - Skye is a special place for sure (stay tuned for some rather different - and longer vlogs - from there around the festive period - excited to share a grand adventure up there 👍👍

Superbos Murray 👌😎
Really excellent video Murray. Your commentary, headcam footage, drone footage, handhelds and the way you edited and put this one together - this was possibly your best ever. Congrats and as always, looking forward to the next one. We've already booked a trip back over next year and some of your hikes are top of our hit list. All the best from downunder ;)
