My personal song of the year 2024. Top 3 in my NW rating. Whatever guard you have up, when Floor's voice comes in she cut's thru it like a fresh sharpened butcher knife and get's you right into your soul and while your bleeding out you feel satisfied. When Floor goes into her emotional mode you can sleep in the finnish winter outside in the woods and still be warmed by her voice and feel comfortable. Much Love from Germany to you and your passionate reactions!
The most beautiful song from Nightwish in years. Floor's lower register is very nice. Great piano, and perfect strings. These reactors are 'philistines'.
I think they are too young and damaged to understand! The girl with the missing fake fingernail: 16:21 "She has a beautiful voice, but the stuff I heard from her, her voice is too powerful" Nate: "Yeah" "Not to use it" Nate: "Yes" "So her doing [ __ ] like this like that was probably [ __ ]" Ties it up neatly, don't forget her spicy channel... Doh!
Don't judge the whole band because they have one slow song..... and it is the last song of the album! Yesterwynde: This album is like an old concept album by Pink Floyd, you might take the time to listen to it from the first song all thru to the last one. After about 50 times now it grew on me up to the 5 best albums I own - and I am 64 now and have about 8000 records. The last song that Bonovin recommends -Lanternlight- is my personal song of the year 2024 by far. It is very, VERY different but exactly that is the reason. For me Nightwish has evolved to those rare bands, that create art without any consideration to what anybody expected or to say it the short way: Nightwish does Nightwish things. Greetings from Germany
Maybe if the 3 of you had read the lyrics, and what the song was actually about...as well as the full album...you would have gotten it! The song was written by Tuomas Holopainen to memorialize his father's passing in 2021! As for Floor...she nailed this song!!! It is one of the most beautiful songs that I have heard in the 60 years that I have been listening to rock 'n' roll, hard rock, heavy metal, and Symphonic Metal. ( Even Metallica had a "softer song" in "Nothing Else Matters!" ). Maybe y'all are too young to have Parents, Unc!es, Aunts, Grand Parents...etc to pass away! This song...and the whole album...is about recognizing those that have passed...and honoring them!
You need to listen to the rest of the album. This is the last song of the album and so it is more introspective and contemplative. It is classic Nightwish because it evokes so much emotion in me. Read the lyrics. A beautiful tribute to those we have gone before us. Tuomas wrote this after his Father had passed. It is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard and is easily in my top 5 Nightwish songs.
I think this is the best song on an excellent album. Floor's immaculate voice with that piano and the gradually building orchestration make it one of the best songs Tuomas has written. The album has plenty of GLS-style bombast and many other styles too. It can be an issue going into a new song with preconceived notions of what that song will bring. Rather than criticise it for not meeting expectations, why not react to it as the pleasant surprise it should be?
Well all I can say to you is that's Nightwish and Floor; Thay can give you a warm soft hug while whispering in your ear then turn around and give you a brutal slap in the face and blow your ears out. Their versatility is one of the main reasons I love them and why they have become my favorite band. I absolutely love this song and the whole album.
I try again and again to listen without a meaning beforehand, but i think if you talk less, take your hoody down and really listen to the lyrics without talking in-between, you might come to an interesting and objective reaction.
Unfortunately Nightwish never reached the mainstream. It just goes over the heads of most people. This video is just an example of the shallowness of this world. I'm not degrading anyone. I'm just a simple man myself. Just listen to the words.. try to understand.. dig deeper. I'm glad Nightwish is still around to this day. One of the few bands which have retained my attention for decades now.
Guys.. if you want some more of the 'epic' nightwish from their new album then pleaseee do yourselves a favour and listen to An Ocean of Strange Islands. It's awesome!! This song was always going to be very different, it was written by Tuomas after his father died. He was very close to his parents so was always going to be more emotional. Yes it's different, but this is just one of many songs on their new album. As I said, just listen to An Ocean of strange islands
As a lifetime fan of Nightwish, I never tried or even wanted to put them "in a box" and limit them to one style. I kind of hoped you wouldn't either. My bad.
Spot on, these "reactors" remained completely insensitive to the mood of the song - how the heck do you miss that? I have a lot to say about each of them, but instead am keeping my thoughts to myself and hope that they'll grow into better reactors.

15:11 Nope. I disagree. Nightwish's new album is more metal than the album before. Period. The whole album tells a story - and this is the last song, finishing the story in a beautiful way. It might not be a song, what you expect. But it is only one song. Don't put Nightwish in a box. Listen the album.

Starting deep and low... [I think that this sounds like her solo album] Maybe you were all expecting something heavy, but this is the last track. The earlier tracks, she soars away. "Something Whispered: Follow Me" Mmm, the warmth of her voice. “Last night brought the heaviest of snows” That sad piano about to sink below the ice. “Melting the songs of old” A favourite bench, with a view. Reminiscences, love of the souls that have gone before. Tuomas wrote this in memory of his father. Then Troy drifts in, with his soft voice, he made up the word, so his pronunciation, is our guide, _right at the end_ of the album. :) Pope Leo Xlll, who served until his death in 1903 at the age of 93. The restored, stabilised and colourised old movies inspired Tuomas. Tuomas wouldn't want _anything_ to do with Disney, they attacked him for the Scrooge Adventure, telling him that they owned the word *"Duck"!* Ah, you got it.
Clearly you don't have any idea what this masterpiece is about? Last song of the new album and Tuomas wrote this after his father passing at 2021, listen the lyrics...
I am so sorry for the three of you , failing to hear and see the beauty , and not getting the meaning of this song ! Here in the Netherlands we have a wise saying about not being able to see beauty when it's right in front of your noses , it's like throwing pearls to a pig !
Wow. What an out of touch, horrendous take on a beautiful composition. Disney is not failing, Tuomas would have nothing to do with them. Love the way none of you actually paid attention to the piece yet still felt like you have some sort of entitlement to judge.
Floor is phenominal, hot introduced to them by a metal artist from Brazil, called Dan Vasc. He does covers of them and more, here is a cover of Shaman's Fairy tale ruclips.net/video/spRyYJUcrMg/видео.htmlsi=bS_kIcHAbJjSLMXk
Damn it. What happened to this channel? When you, during Covid, did reactions with your friend "Devil" (forgot his real name) the reactions and depth were good. Now it has become a children's party and that is a shame. Nightwish has pushed the boundaries again with this new album and then we get this?
NW is over, the three last album has gone from bad to worse. Troy did an intervju in Fireworks magazin UK for some weeks ago, the only thing he talked about was how bad Tarja was and how crazy Anette was, She was sick and pregnant… And that from a Guy who Never met Tarja and is not so popular among fans and singing.. he’s no Marko. he is an old 60 + something years old. But he didn’t talked about the new album. Floor is not talking about the album, She is doing her own Journey. And Tuomas have aged 20 years in 4-5 years, looks much older than 48. Something is wrong in the band and that Troy
Sometimes it's better to be carefull when you don't know enough! And there are many interviews of Troy and Floor talking about the album! And may the force be with you, then you will NEVER age🤘
I remember seeing an old interview with Troy where he trash talked Tarja. It sounded really weird and inappropriate. The issue with Tarja should be none of his beeswax as he wasn’t in the band at that time. Indeed, this bloke is most of what’s wrong with the band, and it seems he’s been running the whole project for quite a while now. Tuomas may not be as important anymore as some think he is. It helps to know who Troy really is - which most people don’t despite the info being readily available. This bloke is a noble from the highest levels of the peerage, which should explain his arrogance. He’s an Oliphant, a Bailey, a Ramsden, a Braithwaite and above all, a Stewart in a direct line (yes, THE Stewarts/Stuarts, Kings of Scotland). He’s also closely related to the Stanleys, Earls of Anglesey and former Kings of Mann. Guess who else comes from the same families? Charles Darwin and Richard Dawkins. Who’s got the chutzpah to tell me there is no relation between this fact and the thematic focus of the last three NW albums? I could go on and on, but this already seals the whole thing for me. It’s absolutely transparent what we’re dealing with here. As to Floor, she DID talk about the new album, but only in Dutch. She dislikes Troy’s vocals and thinks he sings too much on the album. She does not appreciate that Tuomas writes the vocal melodies without consulting her. He just throws whatever at her, and she has to make it work somehow. Basically, she's seriously pissed off. But she’s not gonna leave NW, they pay her way too much. She refused to be a part of the After Forever reunion next year, which honestly came as a shock to me personally - to the point that I may no longer consider myself a fan of her. She hasn’t done anything remotely interesting since 2015 anyway…
