As a final year MBBS student lemme add - this is a LONG journey like 10-15 years still it won't end totally and it's struggling as fuck, it's painful it's depressing. It sometimes makes you hate yourself and regret your choices. You don't get paid much straight away plus you don't get to spend time with your family even in some important moments. MONEY MATTERS cause if you want to support your family early that becomes very very difficult.Yes i agree it's a noble profession but I'd ask everyone to think about every pro and CONS specially before applying. And please stop glorifying this profession without explaining all the struggle and pain because a lot of people come here with big dreams and hopes to help people, but they end up losing themselves in the process.
Thanks for the unique insight! Knowing that Medicine isn’t just about the long nights, the studying, the academical side but also the compassion and how rewarding this career can be one you pursue it! Love this so much!!!!!
What was mentioned, could also be transplanted to quite a handful of other professions. E.g. Not solely about [an obvious or distinguished point], but rather about [some moralistic or greater purposed goals or aspirations]. Perhaps, it could just be a truthful perception, but not sufficiently wholly to represent the reality situations. In most countries, medicine places one in a position of responsibilities, and is quite directly overlooking over the health (life) of another person... therefore, being a doctor (graduating from medicine) does have some actual "professional privileges"...
To those applying, you are only passionate in this field if you consider nursing or pharmacy etc as your 2nd choice. So many ppl just wanna get into this field for the prestige, but they dont understand how tough the journey is and how xiong the work is, not worth the starting pay if you are money-minded. Cant pay student debt.
Yes, you are right, but after 15-20 years, the profession will still be worth it. Downside is, a lot of have to be traded-in earlier on to breakthrough eventually. Some doctors went for the bucks, and they still managed to emerge as prominent figures in their respective fields, eventually, the money per unit value/worth means less to them, as their wealth have crossed certain perceived thresholds.
