I picked up mine yesterday (just in time for my birthday), and I had the pleasure of using it for a wedding shoot yesterday evening. The results were fabulous!!
Congratulations on your new lens, Raymond! Those shots are lovely. You sure weren’t kidding about it being a 🐐. Enjoy! I’m looking forward to seeing more of your shots from it. All the best, - Chris
You are just a first class citizen of the photography community. Your "first day" images show the depth of your imagination. I've made the decision (for now) to stick to the 85 f/1.8 S version, but your skill with the new lens inspires me. I did capture yesterday four moose grazing among Wyoming's snowy willows while my friend and I drove back from cross country skiing. Those shows have a few things to teach me too, I'm sure.
Thanks very much, Barry. I simply follow my eyes! 😀 (And they're sharper these days) The 1.8S is still a stellar lens, especially at the price. No moose near here (just elk) but maybe later this year I'll get into moose country. Come to think of it, the last one I saw up close was in Montana, a few years back. I miss X-country skiing ... I used to teach and, I think it's safe to say, was one of the pioneers of skinny ski mountaineering around these parts.
Beautiful shots! I feel the reason Nikon is taking so long with everything is because they feel everything they release moving forward has to be PERFECT or they get killed by reviewers just because it is Nikon.
@@RaymondParkerPhoto Yeah, people like The Fro and the Northtrops have really destroyed Nikon's reputation in the mirrorless era. Perhaps they have personal issues with Nikon but it is very apparent that not matter what Nikon does, the Fro and others always find something bash them about. Yyou will see when Fro reviews the 85 1.2, he will throw a jab at either the lens, the Z9 or the Z6ii/Z7ii because he always have to say something negative about them. And because of this, I think Nikon is very afraid to release anything that's not up to par or PERFECT. Thankfully, the 85 1.2 is perfect or nearly perfect so I think Nikon's plan is to not release anything until it is perfect...or else, they will be destroyed by RUclips.
Your videos have a nice, friendly tone. It would be smarter just to rent this when I need it, but it’s such an exceptional lens that I still want one. Enjoy yours!
@@RaymondParkerPhoto I'm sure I will. I've seen reviews and examples by a few people I trust, and especially for the "cinematic" look, it seems like a great choice. :)
You certainly did a fantastic job getting perfect lighting to capture your first images with that honking big new lens. I really appreciate the z85 1/8 but this looks like it surpasses it a lot. Enjoy knowing you making a lot of us envy your purchase. Thanks for sharing
This is a lens I've always wanted to use but haven't been able to. Canon now makes the equivalent for its mirrorless cameras and I'd sure like to try a portrait session with it. Your peacock photo on IG and here, with the (lack of) depth of field, was quite remarkable! Super inspiring once again, Ray!
Congratulations Raymond still can not believe that Nikon can give a nice Pouch like Sigma does with there Art Contemporary and Sport lenses for that price
That 'pouch' is absolutely ridiculous for a £3k lens. Not sure what I would do with one of those 85 1.2's but I'd like one. Mind you, having just got my 180-600 and getting the call today that my Z8 will arrive Thurs, I probably have enough new toys for now.
Hi Dave. Agree to a point. Fact is, my remaining soft cases for F-mount lenses have been in the cupboard since they were bought in the oughts. The f/1.2s are on another level, for sure, but no doubt hard to justify unless used often. Glad to hear you've got the 180-600 (sounds like a winner) and your Z8 is in transit. Enjoy!
@@RaymondParkerPhoto I'm perplexed as I've tested the lens. I want the lens but I own both the Nikon 1.8s and the Sigma 1.4. I think in going to wait for the 135mm and I how Nikon makes it this year. Happy shooting pro🤜🏾
It's only been 3 days, but all I can say is that's not been my experience, even in the dusty goat pen. 😀 The build quality appears to be as good as any of the ZS lenses.
Ray, loving it 😀 Absolutely the GOAT !!!
Legendary!
Delighted 😊for you and these shots show a sublime lens
Many thanks!

Hope you enjoy it! Check back.

Certainly they get short shrift from some quarters. Anyone not giving this lens its due is not playing fairly. Same case with the Z9.

Ray mine will be here tomorrow. Awesome pics they look like there is a special sauce going on there GOAT might be the perfect title!
You're gonna love it! Let me know how it goes.
Cool Matt Irwin lives in the future ! yes Aussie way more left on the Globe from GMT time or your Canadian time or my COT time zone in South America !
Oh my god! The crazy glass!
Oh how exciting Raymond… look forward to hearing more once you’ve had a chance to put it through its paces!
Cheers, Zak! It'll definitely be on my cameras a lot.

Thanks, Jim. It's become one of my favourite lenses.
The goat indeed! Congratulation Ray!
Very excited for you. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it in your beautiful landscape.
Joe might be time for us to head to Canada?
@@MattIrwinPhotography sounds like a plan. Do you know anyone there? 😀
I hear they have goat there that are photogenic.

You're on! Bed's made.😀
Great. Raymond. Lookng forward to getting a copy for myself soon!

Congratulations Raymond. Got mine here in Singapore on Thursday and would very much echo your comments
Enjoy it!
Your goat pun made me laugh. I can't wait to see more from you with this lens.
😀
A dream lens. Thanks for sharing Raymond.
It really is!
Matt Irwin secrets helps a lot ! Shade Hood saver Lol .....!
Spectacular!
It really is something!
Enjoy the new len.

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it, John. The 1.8 is no slouch but I do feel this is something special.
wow the crocos photo popped. nice pictures. music had a pink floyd vibe.
This lens pops almost everything, even in flat light. I think you're right about the music.
Awesome video sir. I got mine on Saturday and it's amazing.
Good to hear, Ben! Enjoy!

Cheers, Christian! Yes, I noted the Canon equivalent -- smaller but heavier. I hear it's a nice lens.
Felicitaciones, lo disfrutamos contigo, un abrazo Ray
Encantado de que lo hayas disfrutado, Gustavo.
GOAT pun 😂😂😂😂
Congrats on the newest addition 🎉
I couldn't resist!😀 Both the lens and the pun.
congratz with that amazing lens 🎉
Thanks, Obed!
If I have to pick on shot it's the peacock. Nailed it! Great lens Raymond!
Hard to pick for me, but you may be right. And that's at f/1.8.
Beautiful lense and subjects 😍
Thanks, Arthur.
Can u talk about Zeiss Otus series plz?
Congratulations Raymond still can not believe that Nikon can give a nice Pouch like Sigma does with there Art Contemporary and Sport lenses for that price
Cheers, Edward. I have to admit, I never used them, either the original hard cases or later soft pouches. They sat in the cupboard.
Congratulations
OMG its beautiful!!!🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
It really is!
Nice video, I do wonder how it compares to the 105 1.4
You and me both!
I'll stick with my 1973 105mm f/2.5 until my lottery numbers come up! Beautiful lens, bravo Nikon!
I'm envious of your 105mm f/2.5 -- I dropped mine 4 years ago. Alas, after 4 decades, it's just a shelf display now.
Hi Raymond, the lens looks to be amazing, I hope you enjoy shooting with it. How would you compare it with the 70-200?
I will do that comparison, but I think it's standalone.
@@RaymondParkerPhoto Thank you, it looks gorgeous
Thanks for a good intro review.
You bet
Congrats
Wow spending generously on Nikon lenses.
Congratulations
Pls compare it with Z 70-200mm 2.8 S
Looks really gr8
waiting for 35mm F1.2
If the 35 is anything like this, it'll be awesome. I'll try to include the 70-200 in the mix.
Very nice video.

Isn't Nikon f/0.95 Noct a goat level lens?
WHAT?? They still wear mask in the store? Where is this?
Superb lens but build quality is a letdown. It’s a dust magnet. Won’t be returning it though.
