I was deciding whether to go ahead and pick up a Pixel 1 and whether it would be useful. This has been very helpful in deciding to pick it up because I don't need the latest tech, just tech that works for my budget.
The pixel watch 1 gets a lot of heat off people but it's still pretty good and you can get them super cheap. I used mine all the time for my park runs.
I just picked up a second-hand pixel watch and im pretty happy with it, 24hrs of battery isnt bad not great tho compared to my previous ticwatch pro 3 but software alone is so much better
The 1st and 2nd gen watches both use the same watch straps. I just picked up a gen 1 because Google Fi basically gave them away last month (in the US). They gave me a credit to completely offset the cost of the watch. I'm a traditional watch guy so I'm playing with the idea of a smart watch. This is my first smart watch since the original Moto 360.
Yeah they have the same strap mechanism but a different charging puck. I don't think I could go back to a regular watch after having smart watches for so long.
I bought the Pixel Watch, Pixel 8a with Google fi flexible plan for 28 dollars a month for 24 months, I suspect I will be paying close to 35 dollars a month with data but I was paying 30 dollars a month with no phone for 2 gigs of data on Lyca. Chuffed about the decision.
Battery life is poor on this watch for me. Doesn't last me the whole day. Just like google pixel phones google always skims on the battery. Like to get acceptable battery life do I really need to turn off always on display, raise to wake features? Even if it's first gen google knew it was putting a processor which was on the first galaxy watch. Why not put a bigger battery?
The battery life has gotten better on my first generation pixel watch. I have no complaints with it now.
Yeah it’s a lot better following the updates, fingers crossed we see a big jump in battery life with the rumoured Pixel Watch 3 XL.
I'm stoked to get this.

They will stop supporting it next year (iirc October 2025) but I just ordered one to give it a try! I hear it's a great watch now.
@@TaviRawr yeah it’s great to see Google make a pixel Watch. I hope you enjoy it.

In the 2nd hand market it's hard to find a batter value smartwatch. The Pixel watch is fantastic, it's just not worth the £300+ it launches at.

I wish we got deals like that here in the UK.

I really hope they improve the battery life in the Pixel Watch 3 but I really don’t think they will make a meaningful improvement.
What about the fitbit paywall does it have it still
Yeah it does but you can use the basic Fitbit stuff for free which will be more then enough for most people. I just track my runs and walks.
@@rossniem and are their any advantages to having a pixel phone or nah
great video
Thanks Louis!
It's nice watch, but the battery is the problem 💔
Bigger and battery and bigger screen then this could be a great watch.
I'm... pretty sure I had a pixel watch before this "first gen" watch. Like several years ago. Before "Android Wear" was a thing.
Maybe it was the Moto 360? I assumed it was Google's first smart watch?
Yeah there were some android smart watches before this but this was the first pixel branded one.
Thank you very much for your video, do you think buying a pixel watch generation 1 for $125 is a good purchase?
Nice video
Thanks, really appreciate it 👍
