  • Hello Friends! Welcome to The Shabby Creek Cottage. Today we’re going over simple mixed media techniques but before we get into that you can find the

So I was at Target (as I often am) and was looking through the art supplies and saw there store brand Mondo Llama. Now, to me, it felt like an option for someone looking for watercolor sets on a budget but that got me wondering- is Mondo Llama good? And that sparked the idea for this watercolor paints comparison video.
This watercolor comparison will be between the Winsor and Newson cottman set, one of the Sakura Koi watercolor sketch box travel pan sets, and the Mondo Llama watercolor set.
The Winsor and Newton is one I’ve talked about before so I won’t talk about it too much but I love using it for travel in Nature parks. The palette is the perfect collection of natural colors and it helps me stay focused with a limited palette.
Something I have’t done a paint set review on is the Sakura Koi watercolor travel kit. It’s a koi watercolor 30 set, so it comes with a lot of color and it’s marketed at the Sakura Koi watercolor field set because it comes with a water brush, a sponge and a pretty impressive tray set. The color selection is very nice and matches what you see in the pan very well.
I know I’ve already touched on Mondo Llama art supplies but I do think it’s a great option if you’re looking for budget art supplies or for beginner art supplies.. I think the colors aren’t what I expected based on the pan color but I think it’s still nice. I would recommend it as an art supplies for beginners who don’t have the money/ just don’t want to invest in a palette they are unsure of.
So what did you think of these watercolor sets review? Would you like me to compare more products or would you like me to do a more focused video discussing each palette individually? Let me know, I want to know what you like to see!

I love water color. I feel like I have been able to create really beautiful stuff with not a lot of skill or practice.

I bought the mondo wood box just for the box. Took out the chalky student grade paints and straight to the trash. I also took out the plastic mixing tray and used the dimensions to make my own out of air dry clay and used water resistant gloss varnish. Now it’s a beautiful wood box that holds my Daniel smith tubes paints in half pans and had a wonderful mixing well area
